Wada and SE looking into discount. What price is acceptable?

-25% off if you take the whole package (Dec.-2.0).

I fully agree with the OP. 5-7 dollars would be a great price to pay until 2.0 comes out.

what about discounts only on multi-month subs? pay 3 - 6 months up front get a discount. If you go month to month... full price!

I still think my idea is best for them

5-7$ discount
1$ for itemspace/retainers.

i'd like an option to pay full price if i wanted too. I wanna support 2.0 by paying full price but i understand others may not feel the same.

SE already stated a year ago that when they have a roadmap and plan of future development of FFXIV and that when game meets what they feel should have launched with they would bring back subs. Guess what that tiem is upon us and look how people react.

It seems that a lot of people think that a tuesday in December 2012 they will be playing current FFXIV then on wednesday they will be playing a whole new game. One which they will be willing to pay full price for. You are all kidding yourselves.
If SE reduces the sub across the board until ver. 2.0 comes out people will be so used to paying that reduced fee that a price increase will make players see red.

Telling them ahead of time "From December 2011 - December 2012 FFXIV sub fees will be priced @ $5-7 a month, the first billing cycle of 2013 FFXIV sub fee will then increase to $10-14 a month" Will not work.

Reduced rates should only be offered when purchasing Crysta in bulk $30-$60 at a time, or when subscribing for 3-6 month blocks. All month to month subs should be full price. This model is substainable throughout the lifetime of FFXIV service, and is a standard in MMO pricing.

Asking for less now will only create more problems in the future when they ask for more.

I like the idea of a discount. Fullprice at this stage, while I would pay, I would feel like it's a bit overcharged.

And it's not because we're cheap. We drop money on video games all the time. We both have active WoW accounts (in fact, he has two so he can dual box), and I have an active Aion account. Right now he's playing offline games such as minecraft, Sim City and Batman: Arkham City.

There are a lot of players who still don't trust SE. Their plans for the future are still that, just plans. And to ask full price right now threatens to break that fragile trust and alienate players.

Isn't it better to compromise and keep more players, than be unbending and turn people away?

I guess 8-9$ is ok for me. I doubt they would want to charge 7$ and increase it by 1 every patch. It would be too complicated. They will probably stick to eg -20% or something like that.

I don't see why people assume that their only option is to lower the standard fee. There are many more ways to offer a discount that doesn't come down to a straight -10-50% discount on the monthly fee.

Why not? Its space and more selling spots, like buying AH spots in XI would be gold mine.

in XI a majority of people baught the security token strictly for the 80 spots lol a lot even just deactivated the token after. Thats $10 for 80 slots.

This makes Crysta conversions a real pain in the neck. Though it is a reasonable option.

i dont think it shuold go over 10 ever, that said 10 or less for me. like you said if yoshi thinks the game is 50% then charge 50%.

I'm actually very thrilled about this. I say go for the 6-7! It's only fair and it also supports them.

I would like them to change the billing per character as well, some of us like having more then 1 and getting billed an extra $3 is a bit much.

This was done when we first gOT FFXIV actually... it ended almost a year ago.. i dont mind paying full price for this game.. why? cuz its the only game i play online.. (and i spent far more money on a korean hell grinder which had 1/3 of the content we had now)

you ppl make 12.99 sound like soooo much money, in my part of the country, thats less than 2 packs of cigarettes a month, AND i get to have it for 30 days? unlimited use? why the hell not, this is a great idea! you dont like to pay? well theres always XI.. either way, they are making their money.. so pick the game you like and stick with it, ill see you when 2.0 comes out, until then, im paying full price :cool:

I'd be fine with paying less right now. I also support any price cost ASAP to get people that don't play off of the forums (need an active character to post on xiv/xi forums).

take the price of wada's hookers then discount the price for early launch :) and then multiply that price by 0 and that is the amount i think is fair to pay.

Actually, that's wrong. Gradual price increases are easier to accept than giant ones, especially when we're dealing with a product that has some serious defects in it that won't be fixed for at least a year. If they're upfront about what they want to charge for 2.0, people can make a responsible decision.

I would gladly pay $30/mo if donkey knight was implemented.

Whatever SE charges, let them stick by the $3 per additional character.

i am all for the $6-7 price untill 2.0.

I didn't have a problem with the original thread (didn't find it funny, but didn't have a problem with it). However, seeing someone basically constantly say, "Hey remember that funny thing I said? Wasn't that funny? Here it is, lets go over again how I said that funny thing.", is just kind of pathetic.

Have you heard of forced memes? Cos that's what that other guy is trying to do, I think. Maybe me visiting /v/ has desensitized me to people attempting to force funny jokes down my throat. I found the referencing thread lame, but at the same time nothing stops you from just ignoring that post and proceeding with the other discussions that are in this thread.

But people making 6 threads on the same topic is as acceptible? They were making a brilliant point, that these polls/threads about wyvern pets, in favor of or otherwise... are just kind of ridiculous. I applaud the creator for their lighthearted thread, far too often is that not seen on these forums everyone always seems to be at each others throats, instead of coming to an understanding.

Again, I didn't mind that thread. I prefer threads that are meant to be funny, to actually be, you know, funny. I didn't find it funny. I mean after 5 years of "Bacon Mage" jokes, not much Donkey Knight can do for me. But, some of you seemed to be enjoying it, I didn't come rain on your parade there. I only spoke up after s/he kept asking for the spotlight back trying to relive his/her moment of "glory'.

I wonder.. I mean I'd gladly pay anything lower, obviously, but I'd also be willing to pay full price.

Maybe a 25% global price cut? I think I'd start to feel a bit awkward, for my part, if it got very close to 50%, or indeed lower than that.

Honestly, to me? 10% sounds perfectly reasonable, but I doubt many would see it my way.
