I am glad jump is being implemented.
shut up you idiots jeez
Oh, good lord. Jumping officially has been confirmed, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered with a prototype animation for it. Fighting it at this point is like the people who argued against auto-attack, all the way to 1.18 patch day.
The only thing that can be considered constructive feedback now is how it should be implemented, not if.
I, for one, am glad to see it being implemented. Maybe that's one less thing the gaming community can use to take pot shots at FFXIV. This game is ridiculed for being in the dark ages, and rightly so.
I'm also glad to see it looks like a free-form spacebar type jump!
I would've always been fine with context sensitive jumps. Like in Zelda games, or in FFXIII. I, personally, feel that would be the best path to take, but realize it's more than likely too late in the design process to implement it due to how they design the maps.
I wish they could've listened to other people who thought this, as well as the crowd that wanted jump and come to a happy medium.
Oh well.
I totally agree, I hate fighting, I hate EVERYTHING in exsistance HAS to be a WOW clone IF it meet anything that makes it seem "wowish", and for all that is good, people use the same features in every MMO is Natural, but calling it a " Wow clone" is kinda childish :/
This^
I'd like to see it implemented as an action in areas of maps to ascend to higher spots. Such as nearing a cliff edge, and having the action pop up in your menu, or to double click the spot. Controlled areas in other words, instead of free-jumping as an emote.
It's still jump, it still allows you to access areas you couldn't reach, and offers for more dynamic map areas.
He said it's in development and still in testing...it has not been finalized that it will be added to the game as of yet...why have jump if there's no reason for the jump feature?
Here we go with people jumping randomly for no reason what so ever...sounds unnecessary to add and only causes crazy mapping calculations and collision detection and mob targeting and AI issues.
Xenoblade has jump. That's a JRPG. Quit pissing on the idea of jump and let us enjoy it. FFXIII-2 has free jump as well.
Jumping is being implemented. Great in my books. I can see what that brings to the table. Good and Bad. Mostly good. But if you are the type of person that feels rage cause someone is bunny hopping around, maybe you should really just play sp games cause if its not bunny hopping, then its gonna be something else that makes you livid.
Its just an alpha, showing generally what its gonna be like. How bout we wait and see the final release before we start raging.
Hey as long as it doesn't look god-awful and they have a purpose for it, then I can dig it.
just remember the jump they showed in the video was not approved by YoshiP; he said it feels awkward and it's too high, they are still working on it.
The true reason we don't have jump in this game, as once a great personality said in this forum, is because we can't jump in real life. END OF STORY.
See? Jumping feels awkward because jumping doesn't exist! 'nuff said.
I hope we have some fast paced "raids" (still feels awkward calling them that) that require us to jump over gaps and stuff. That could be a good use as well as an immersion tool!
BTW why jump if you can ride a Gobbue that can just push everything aside? C'mon.
the rest of you can hop all over the land for all I care, I'll be riding my chocobo and getting there before you
Ah, see, that's the problem with seeing the video before we get the translation. All we got on Twitter was a brief blurb that Yoshi-P was talking about jump, and then we see the animations. While I am a jump advocate, I do have to admit that it did look awkward. I definitely think SE can do better. But I'm glad it looks like we're going to be able to jump!
So when I play hopscotch or use a jump rope I'm defying the laws of physics? Wow!
(╬ ಠ益ಠ) "This jump is unacceptable... Players should be able to double jump.... no... wait! Players should be able to have jet packs so when they double jump, they can use the thrusters and perform a TRIPLE JUMP!... YEAH!!!!"
If wow's formula isn't original then that means another game did it before wow, and if another game did it before wow why not complain about them instead?
Its a bit difficult to come up with anything these days if everything good and bad can be associated with wow.
Let's open a new thread about this in about 1-2 months.
I don't like it too.
Oh dear, jumping... did ffxiv players actually want this? So gimmicky.
The sad thing is that this thread complaining about a pre alpha animation for a highly irrelevant (albeit popular) feature will get far more posts than all other threads talking about the (awesome) letter combined.
Kriss Cross can make you Jump, Jump.
I'm SO MAD they're adding jump. My character is supposed to be attached to the ground AT ALL TIMES!
It's a good thing there aren't any weapon skills in the game where your character jumps...that would break ALL OF MY IMMERSION!!!
Well, I wasn't impressed. ._. The lalafell jumps way too high, the hyur looked awkward as well. I want to know what will be done to prevent everyone from bouncing all the time (which Yoshida-san has acknowledged in the past is a fear of many players) and the game from becoming a massive joke. I also want to know if jumping could be kept out of PvP and battles..
Actually, another good question is... where the heck will this fit on the controller?
I think the jumping looks good, and it's a nice height. In FFXI the tarutaru had the highest AGI stat, it's no surprise that something that size can have a bit of a spring to it (like a RL friend of mine in high school was damn short and used to always win high jump at athletics).
If it was lower people would complain and ask what the point of implementing a jump is if it wasn't high enough to jump over most objects.
Oh and it was a low-angle view on the video, makes it look higher than it really is.
As long as they make the jump a tad lower I would be fine with it.
Chrono Trigger had jump since 1995. Stop spamming wow
Common mistake. The title of the movie doesn't reference the dream within a dream within a dream, it references the dreamer taking in the idea that has been secretly implanted.

I am pretty sure the jump height is the same for all races. It is just that since the lala is smaller he seemed to be jumping more. If they made his jump proportionate to his body then he would be at a disadvantage compared to the less vertically challenged in Eorzea.
feel like I take the troll bail, but reply anyway
Tera is more than just a few tweaks from wow, play it first k ?
you can have your own opinion, but why complain about the system underdeveloped ? I fail to understand this point
consider from the info how the lala jump, pretty much it wont be just for fun and spam button, there ll be obstacle imo or some area you need to jump to reach
