Scholar is perhaps the healer with the best tools to keep the group alive and recover after the cohealer dies. Many emergency CDs, mana to raise, etc etc.

If its just your cohealer dying, thats an easy fix, but if its your coheal + a tank for example, you're probably boned, but that same could be said for all healers (again depending on the situation.) Having Selene out, which you should in most places, cripples us in the healing department, because Fey Illu + Fey Cov + Whispering Dawn can really help you pull through tough times. Would really love for our next Ultimate skill (level 70) to be an instant fairy swap at no cost.
I do think we have some crazy recovery abilities though. (Dissipation, Lustrate, virus, indom, Sacred Soil, Adlo spread to name a few)
Scholars are healers, not DPS classes. They are mitigators but overall focus on group mitigation with some edge on single target mitigation. You cannot look at a class by itself against content that has more than one player as you must factor in other classes and how the game is meant to be played.
If you're concerned about tank's mitigation, most of their mitigation is to make HEALING easier. Yes, it's supposed to make THEM live, but ultimately it's supposed to the bulk of single-target mitigation because most damage is going out to them AND frequently.
Group mitigation is in the hands of the healer. White Mages not so much, Astrologians are in-between, but Scholars are king of all mitigation. Fey Covenant, Adloquium/Succor (Galvanize), Fey Illumination, Deployment Tactics, Sacred Soil and Virus... All those defensive buffs can mean life or death to a fully-topped off group versus some unavoidable raid-hits (look at J-Kick in AS8). While mitigation doesn't feel strong in the aspect that it doesn't mitigation 50% of damage taken MOST of the time, the fact that it CAN happen on a Scholar is quite amazing.
Now if you're arguing because they feel lackluster when the other healer dies... Well... All healers generally feel that way when they've expended all their CDs normally then are faced with an unexpected healer death at a VERY horrible time. Sometimes it's salvageable, other times it's not. So the solution to that is not "make Scholars better" or another healer better, but believe it or not it's don't die.
The logic behind tank DPS equating to enmity is that tanks only actively increase their own enmity (in exception to Provoke and Flash) is damage.
A healer gaining enmity through healing is a system put into MANY mmos to discourage spamming heals on people with 100% HP as healers are not supposed to tank.
Actually the best recovery i did was on thordan EX when he use his wtf all flashy maxi attack with cône aoe, ice and gaze
We got 3 death and still manage to kill it
(The double quake made me cry but whatever XD had to burn everything i had and we survive the second one with more or less 1k hp)
Sch can save à situation and solo for a short time no matter the fight
Except with mechanics requiring a certain number of player (third boss A6S for example)
Yet another scholar who conveniently wants to forget the job the fairy is doing when looking at their own numbers. For the claim that WHM can almost soloheal stuff, yeah, that might be true and in some cases another healer is truly not needed. In those cases by all means run as a SMN or some other dmg to get good dps. However in those cases you're co-healing with them as SCH you can only judge how well they could soloheal if you don't summon your fairy. (Not necessarily popular move at least in DF). If you have fairy out with them, they are not solo healing.
What I'm getting there is that while you can very well compare your dps numbers to WAR (you shouldn't, for reasons mentioned many times in this thread but that's another matter) you need to count that you're dps'ing and healing at the same time. Of course you have slightly lower dps because it adds up to the healing done by your fairy. You and fairy are the complete package and being able to pull off tank dps as well as heal the same time would be way too powerful. If you don't want that nasty little fairy eating up from your potential tial then just roll a SMN.
I think you're not fully understanding the role of an off-healer. It isn't to be more DPS focused but to support the main healer in their role. If you start to focus more on your throughput DPS-wise, then you're not correctly playing your job.
Micro management of you Eos/Selene as well as putting your preventative measure in place such as EfaE, shields, virus etc, should take up about 80% of your time. Extra DPS during that downtime is a luxury, not essential. Your primarily role a healer, nothing other than that. Scholer is not a 'hybrid' class, Arcanist is. If you want to DPS, play Summoner. Slacking in raids does nothing but put more stress on the main healer and your only focus should be helping him, not how many DoTs you can stick on a boss.
Scholar is fine where it is, nothing needs to be changed.
