What if that account has characters on multiple servers?

Ideally it should be 1 FC per account per server (to combat 1 person creating multiple FC's) and 1 personal house per account per server (that has the ability to be shared between all characters on the account on that server). Had they implemented that type of structure at the start it would have gone a long way for housing availability.
There are multiple FC's on Gilgamesh that have "Alt FC" homes. As well as multiple players using Alt's to own several personal/FC homes. It's ridiculously selfish/greedy to the players that don't have a home and the players that are doing it think it's totally okay because they're not going against any set of rules. I know one person who asked one of these Multiple FC home owners (has multiple fc's using alts) if they would sell the plot and the response was "Nope, we like decorating"; it literally sits unused across from their FC (occasional target dummy practice and sporadic gardening).
This would seriously help with people who have multiple characters that feel like they need a house for all of them.
Another thing that might be worth considering is making the Workshop available for personal housing. I understand the intent behind the Workshop and Airships being FC exclusive is to encourage people to join and participate in FCs, but when we have people making alts just to have access to personal airships, and taking up the limited housing to do it, then making Workshops available in all houses might be the lesser of two evils.
I could get behind this if SE would allow you to share housing with all your alts on the same server. Currently, SE wants you to play each character as a standalone character, purposely making it difficult to share resources between alts. Of course there are workarounds, but that's not the point. Since they are technically standalone characters, it is perfectly reasonable and lawful for each of them to have their own house.
While I can see why Personal Home owners would want this feature I would have to disagree that we should get it. There are certain things that I feel should be tied to FC's; the whole point of the FC is group involvement which is exactly what the workshop is (or was intended to be).
I do see where you're coming from though, but there has to be a better solution than giving personal housing all the perks of FC housing.
The honest fact is that, while some players really enjoy alt characters, SE have gone out of their way to try to make you feel really really REALLY attached to 1 specific character; where I'm sure they're hoping you do most of your activities. Which is why we can do all crafting, gathering, disciples of war/magic jobs on 1 character. This also ties into the fact that we can't send mail to alts/friend list alts directly.
The ability to allow a single personal home to be shared between alt characters for those who enjoy that is definitely, imo, a key piece that's missing.
They really need to incorporate some better rule structures going forward to help with the current housing issues. If that means that previous owners are grandfathered in for the time (unless they lose the house to the decay timer) then so be it but take preventative steps to stop future abuse.
I totally agree, in principle, but in practice, I'm seeing more and more people taking up the few houses that are available to make FC houses with their alts. I would rather keep FC perks tied to FCs, but I'd rather see more people who don't have houses get houses.
Granted, this issue is probably not nearly as wide spread as I'm making it out to be, but I hate seeing even one person using up a plot for the sole purpose of getting those extra perks.
I have no issues with people having more than 1 house. I plan on keeping my lavender beds and I will jump on ishgarde housing. The REAL issue here is the poor design of housing from the start. Instance housing, or add more wards, but even that isnt the real root of the issue. Theres a reason why they limit data on their servers..
Well if they gave us access to at least 1 airship via a personal house maybe people would be happy. I'm sorry people will always buy and flip houses as it's money and some of us have more gil than other's but some of us have worked hard to earn that Gil. I Feel i needed a house with an FC alt for crafting reason's only It's not being greedy it's just practical for many reasons as a crafter. I spend at least 70% of my time in-game crafting.
So I don't understand why people are hating on people for doing this but it's not like we are buying 10 plot's.
Real question is what they will do with the price adjustment because if they increase the amount needed a lot of people are going to be upset and yes I know for a fact within 3 hours of the patch all med,Small plots will be gone and say 80% of the large.
But I can see people moaning again if they up the price like ahh only the rich can buy them but then if they lower them then they will sell even faster.
Most people will have a MAX of 3 alts that can buy a house I Myself have 2 so I'm unsure why people think players are buying 4 or 5 houses. When it's not worth flipping a large plot as you will lose money unless it's an FC and I'm sure it's against the TOS to now sell your House.
and apartment's in 3.4 and now you have flowerpots :) so they are getting it :)
Flowerpots aren't the same as gardens, they're something new. From the most recent Live Letter:
So maybe it'll grow single seeds, but that's it. Definitely no growing anything complex like Blood Peppers from scratch.
Actually you could buy 16, if you have the time and put in the effort (and have the gil and there are plots available!). 8 characters per account, 1 personal and 1 FC house each. But that's a lot of work, probably too much for everyone except the very dedicated.
Edit: 16 houses, not 18. Typo'd on my initial post...
Or, they could just allow actual house selling so that there would be a net discount to the person buying. Instead of having to pay the seller then full price for the lot, you could just buy the plot directly from the player (maybe even keep the furnishings as some can't be taken back). Yes, that would raise the price, but it would also allow for people to buy/sell nice homes as well. I know a lot of people that just like decorating houses. So why not allow them to buy a house, decorate it, then sell it off so they can go decorate another for someone else?
That's not a net discount, it's rubbing peters to pay Paul. On top of not fixing anything, it pushes housing further into the wrong direction.
The game cost of housing is already trivial. If housing is going to remain as limited as it is now, then the prices should reflect the economy.
As already mentioned, you can buy 2 houses per character. An FC house, and a personal. The FC house's only requirement is a rank 6 FC, no character level requirement. That's 8 houses per standard account. 5 of my characters are 50+. That's 5 personal houses. 13 houses.
The rest of my characters are in-progress.
And no, I don't intend to do such a thing. But I can.
