OP, great post, it deff brought back some funny memories!
I really can only hope that ffxiv spawns the type of creativeness you see from ffxi fans, such as comics, music videos, cosplay, etc.
Thanks for the chuckles OP, very nostalgic!
I'm glad that im not the only one that had the SAME experience in FF XI.I laughed alot with the character faces, keep it up!.
FFXI was my second MMO and I was so lost at first. Someone who was passing by Sarabaruta had to tell me I had to get to Dunes at level 12 to get any further. I was like, how do I get there? I have to get through what zones? And not get noticed by ANY mobs? Zomg... : ) Aww the memories.
Love this comic. Really brings back memories of the good ol' days of XI where everything was new and exciting and good friends were made on the regular. By the way, the secret to easily leveling WHM or BLM to 10 was to sub MNK. Unavailable in the comic's case but man, hand-to-handing everything coupled with nukes/heals made it really easy.
Agreed. I remember browsing the fanart forums on KI waaaaay back in the day and people were really talented when it came to XI art. The cosplay deal is understandable since FFXI had more support + official fan events (that I never got to go to, so sad). It was a more aesthetically pleasing game than XIV currently is too.
Too bad you had no sub at the start xD
But yes this brings back up some awesome memories.
For the love of god, I can't get the same feeling in FFXIV as in FFXI and I have no clue what it's about. Maybe I'm just missing my old homies... hmm no clue :( Maybe the new jobs will make the game more appealing to me.
I wanted to draw some FFXI comic/Manga as well. But holy shit I suck at drawing D:
I laughed my ass off reading the strip. :D
I lol'd hard at the "3 informative hours later"
This thread is amazing, every strip becomes such a success when you nail the right momentum with a parody. Those are experiences that we all identify with, where we wanted to pull our hair out, moments where the game opened up and our jaw dropped and moments where "common ffxi logic" hit us in the face.
that was brilliant, please do one for XIV haha
omg, love it!!
I really miss the danger you had to face once you decided to travel to another city-state. In XIV I did that all on my first day. :(
Though, the comic pretty much sums up what I experienced too. It was just in Sarutabaruta. Friend and I got killed by a hare when we first set foot into Tahrongi Canyon. And the Dunes where like miles away~
*sigh* Memories~ *wipes off tear*
XDD haha! win!
Thanks for sharing! It was a fun read and all too true. XDD
I loved the comic! Nice job!
I, too, was a Bastok Tarutaru. A rare breed, we were. I chose the largest size, which made me a veritable freakshow. You were more likely to see a unicorn walking the streets of Bastok than a giant Tarutaru.
There's just one thing, though.... I didn't get a Bastokan ring! You only got that if you were a Hume or a Galka starting in Bastok. Racist city....
I don't know...maybe they changed that later on. But I remember really feeling left out not having that ring. :p
the nostalgia is killing me Vana'diel I miss you but not your party grinding gameplay.
Ahahahahahaha I remember installing XI on my 360 a few years ago....
..................
....:( It was horrible.
That comic brought back so many memories. Hope you decide to make one on XIV too.
I know that feel bro. Bastokan Elvaan and I had to break my back in those early days to afford a pair of balance rings while all the sissy humes got away with a free ring. No regrets, as Bastok is the greatest nation in the history of Final Fantasy. Sandy can suck it, and Windurst.... you're alright Windurst.
I never played XI but I've had very similar experiences with other games. lolz
I feel stupid >_<;
How can I get a file that's full-size and won't be either very very narrow and unreadable, and when I zoom in, it's all just pixels?
Does that make sense?
I guess it depends on your browser settings!
You could always right-click - save as, and then open it in a picture viewer instead.
I miss my THF.
I liked wearing my AF and showing off my "Abs of <Steal>"
D'oh! I feel stupid. Photobucket went and shrunk it. Try this.
Dat ass.
lol
Haha, the track marks looping the wrong way through Gustaberg killed me. I can't tell you how many times I did that, even after playing for years. XD
