I main Dark Knight, it's the only job I use for endgame content.
I main summoner but try to keep my sch up to date at all times. You could say I main arcanist then, even though it is a class, not a job.
I main BLM, but my AST is only about 7 ilvl behind. I think I'd struggle to gear up any more than 2 though
Main SCH as gear is all heals my WHM/AST are about equal ilvl my second is WAR so same for PLD/DRK... I use any according to needs of a team offer raiding though mainly WHM/SCH.
Midan and lore on PLD, then midan on drg, then whm. Then I can stop.
Main bard.....alt SCH but like 10+ ilvls behind only use it for DR expert and trial
this is why im glad my main character is strictly Mage only.
as much as i loved having seperate job gear for multiple glams, having shared pieces means im pretty uniform across the board except weapons.
that said i do have alts who main 1 job, but it actually makes minimal difference vs multi job gearing to me.
still, i pity those who like to play multiple job types and need 4/5 different gear typings
Main bard, off whm, possibly off mch and derp on tank. Melee well I gear last but mainly monk.
I'm only really comfortable on white mage, and considering I've been playing it since they introduced it (and conjurer before that), it feels like it's the only job that fits with my main character.
I have been levelling up an alt though, and been doing mainly doing ninja with her so far, although she's only 51.
My main was Sch in vanilla.
Monk in Heavensward, then shifted to MCH once seal rock landed. I love many but only commit to one at a time.
I main Bard, but I'm planning on getting Machinist to 60 as well, because I love the gear sharing between the 2.
I've also got a lvl60 Scholar/Summoner and Dark Knight, but I stopped gearing them after I got them their ilvl200 eso gear, as it's too hard to manage for me (also, I don't like tanking/healing the current endgame content).
I main Bard, but I had all classes to 50 before HW so I'm leveling up all classes too, and all will be at i200 at least once they reach 50. I focus mostly on Bard for Lore, Tanks for Midan/Crafted gear, and ESO for everything else for now. Hoping to get weaver to 3 star so I can craft caster and healing gear i220 gear too.
I've been a WHM main since about two months after ARR launch. I used to play BRD a lot too, so I guess you could've said I had two mains. But 3.0 killed bard for me. Although I have every job to 60 except MCH and DRK, WHM is the only one I play at 60.
I know what most think the term "main job" means, but my definition is probably different. Right now, I am actively gearing 13 jobs for end game content. 8 DoH, 3 DoL, BRD and PLD. Plus an alt.
I "main" Astrologian but only in the sense that I'm spending all my tomes on healer gear. I tend to play different jobs based on the situation.
There's nothing wrong with maining one job but also there's nothing wrong with not having a main declared. You can learn a job inside and out by just playing the game for hundreds of hours as well so maining one isn't necessarily a requirement for that. The issue with not having a main is deciding what 1 job to allocate all your tomes towards because you only really have enough time between patches to gear 1 job up fully with the latest tome gear and usually a 2nd job is nearly completed by the time a new set of gear rolls out.
Been maining bard since 2.0 pretty much. Still find it perplexing that people ward off their lore progression by buying for more than one job.
I main Black Mage, but I really should get around to leveling something else.
I main white mage, and it's what I play probably 90% of the time. I do like to keep all of the healing jobs geared though, and thankfully this has become easier this patch with shared lore gear. I also try to keep one dps job geared, but I can never settle on which one, and I never end up playing it anyway because I just prefer to heal.
I main BLM, but my secondary is WAR. I used to raid with BLM in 2.x and Gordias (and quit at A3S because good lord man). It's more of a "I'm just really good at the job" than anything else at this point, but WAR I find actually fun because I don't have to worry about Enochian+Astral/Umbral all the time. Gearing two jobs at the same time is hard, rest in peace whoever likes playing 3+ Jobs.
I only main 1 job. Mostly because I am not much of an Alt person, even when FFXIV lets you play anything on 1 character I find it hard to do something else. -hehe-
I main a drk unless duty finder requests a dps or healing in need than i switch to ast and blm
I switch a lot too with DRG being like my main class (Lore gear) for raids besides that I play SMN, BLM, NIN, BRD, all three healers and DRK lol but I make sure I have 1 healer, 1 Tank and 1 dps geared up incase I need to feel In where any of my groups need it...in high level content
I only main Ninja, I have Dark Knight at 60, but haven't touched it in quite some time. Before Ninja came out I mained Monk, I really prefer fast paced classes.
I main NIN, but Im currently gearing up all jobs but healers simultáneously, specially the Tanks... because I can...
The fact that crafted gear is on par ilvl wise with Midas gear has helped me a lot for this.
I main MCH, but I used to main SMN. I tried to play both of them but it was too much of a pain to gear them both up so I dropped SMN.
My SCH is pretty well geared too but I only use it if a friend needs a quick roulette since healing is stressful in DF.
I main WHM and just need one more item to complete My ESO set. I also have a Lore ring. I'm going to upgrade to Lore gear for this class.
My sub-class is Summonr/Scholar so will be working on Summoner next. It's still level 50 but almost 51. I love pet classes so it's a good subclass for me.
After that I will level AST. By the time that is 60 I will probably have all the Lore healer armor and accessories.
Previously I also leveled PAL and BLM to 50, but I honestly did not enjoy playing either so I do not think I will level them to 60.
I have BRD at 39 and I do like this class, but torn on bothering with it because I don't feel like levelling Dragoon for cross class.
Classes that aren't for me, so will not cause me any gear stress: WAR, DRK, DRG, NIN, MNK, MAC.
*UPDATE*
I started the game during beta phase in 2013 as a CNJ. By end of October, I had become BRD as I thought it was going to be huge on support like the FFXI's version. I bounced between WHM and BRD until I ended up being a BRD main. However, since I was a NIN as a tank in FFXI, I became a ROG/NIN when it released in this game.
Moving forward, while I'm still officially a NIN sitting at iLv223, I have never been dps-savvy in MMOs; mostly support, tank, healer, in no particular order. That said, I am now shying away from NIN to focus tanking. While I have been rolling/gearing PLD, I now found DRK is more my speed with it's crowd control, enmity generation abilities, and it's aggressive style of play.
My DRK has not broke high dps numbers, but I'm taking baby steps to fully learn the job before I'm 100% comfortable with pushing dps. My struggle with DRK was with being main tank on Sephirot, in regards to me dying to the fourth tank buster in phase 1. Now that I have that under control as of last night, I'm pushing to gear DRK, who's currently at iLv214. I had PLD/DRK as raid while NIN was everything else, but to get better at a job, I need to be on it more, so I'll be on DRK a bit longer.
So, while NIN is considered my main, it may end up becoming my alt while DRK become my main. I recently joined a static group (finally) who wanted me as tank (PLD preferred), but I've been going as DRK. And since they're ok with me being DRK, coupled with me wanting to play DRK anyway, it may become my main.
When I am ready for a static, I will main WHM but outside, I play every healing jobs depending on my mood, and dungeons. I SCH when its roulette level 50 and leveling. Trials is WHM and 60 plus expert I go AST. I dont really have a main healer outside raid but right now I focus on WHM since I plan to go in a static with that class.
Single job focus only really matters for raiding.
I main only BLM, would love to swap to MNK or something completely different sometimes (for raid static) but it's not worth it.... due to all that caps (like tomes). Gear is just way too bad.
I actually consider to make a real twink, so i can equip it with proper gear and have a useful alt. Sadly, you can not friend&mail alts.
the token system so far try to force us to main, but actually i'm kinda sure most of the player don't only play one jobs, for make simple they try to go against what we do. *shrugs*
I'm one who usually mains one job, but also mains one class in general: since I'm a solo player, being a tank gives me the fastest of queues in basically everything except raiding (which I don't do). Even healers are slower in queue than tanks. But if I had to pick a tank, it's warrior.
If I had more reasons to play more jobs I'd definitely take it, but I generaly play them to avoid monotony and even then I have to take on 15+ minutes of queue. Definitely not worth the wait.
I have two mains, AST and BRD. I keep my AST higher than BRD and gear it first for raiding and then mostly play BRD for casual dungeons. I only really do this so I don't get bored of the same class :)
I main dragoon but lately I just haven't been in goon mood I have a hard time maintaining blood of the dragon then I get chew out about it I'm not fast on a controller on my ps4 due too athirst >.> I love bard though and summoner and ninja and monk
An LS mate was having trouble with keeping BotD up as well. He was losing it because he kept trying to get the positionals for the other attacks. They told him that if he absolutely cannot get the positional, just use the attack anyway.
NIN plays faster than DRG, though, so I'm not sure if that'll work for you in the long run.
I had everything at max level until Heavensward, but I almost never used some of them, like Black Mage for instance.
Therefore, I intend to at last keep a tank (Paladin), DPS (Dragoon) and healer (White Mage) "up-to-date", meaning AT LEAST up from current non-capped tome gear to be able to use whatever my roulette and/or FC mates need at the moment.
Seeing as I do anything but Savage raiding, that's perfectly fine. As others have said, being able to play different roles isn't a liability, it's an advantage.
i don't but i don't plan on going pass 1tank,1heal,and 1dps.
