There's tons of ways to fix this but SE wont act on any of them. Not even an option to be removed from player search queries which would be awesome.

I think it's abundantly clear by now that Squeenix don't give a whit about anyone but the Japanese players. And since RMT tells aren't a problem on the Japanese servers, they're never gonna implement any kind of permanent solution. We might as well be screaming into the Void.
Brynhildr has been pretty bad lately. I've been getting 3-4 tells in a row almost every few minutes (may be exaggerating, but it's still pretty bad.)
In all my time playing, RMT has never been this bad before.
I usually have no issue with the seller. However, last night was the ultimate.
Remember back in the day when you were in a town, and a gil seller would spam the chat with endless /shout with their advertisements, as if it was just auto-scrolling the information? Well, my /tells was filled with that exact thing. I'm like, "wtf..."!
Didn't even realize a bunch of real players was asking me to help them, but I missed the messages. I blocked my first gil seller, but then, about 3 seconds later, another had my /tell chat log scrolling. I blocked about 9 of them back to back. But the 10th, I logged off and played DC Universe.
Well despite people saying there is no way to get away from RMT spamming you all day long, there actually is. If you join a JP server you will have next to none I hear from JP server players. Why is that?
I can only suspect that they just aren't buying from them or something and therefore the RMT aren't wasting their time over there. I wish people did that on my regions server... I'm so sick of the RMT tells...
Well on Phoenix before Christmas i used to get a lot of whispers but since 2016 i recieved none!:)
The good thing in this game is that you are not taking mails from people that are not in my friend list.On other games my mail box was full on those spams:(
You know it's bad on Hyperion when there's gil selling in Idyllshire.... like, someone at the RMT factory had to go through all of that storyline, dungeons, trials, queue for all this content, and level up enough to even get there.
Without anyone getting suspicious of the random name and reporting them before that point.
And there's quite a bit of them I've had to block there recently. So this isn't some isolated incident.
it took square about 7 years before finaly found a good method of stoping majority of RMT activity on FF11.
if your playing on anythng other then ps3 u can seperate ur chat box boxes so more then 1 on screen.
i use 3. 1 for social focus. 1 for combat focus. and 1 "tiny" chat window for hunts/tells because i dont use them much but both are still used
turning off the /tell sound chime is also a big help
I used to set myself to /busy when I logged in, but since I put the Tells in a separate chat tab long ago and I never look at them anyway, I finally quit bothering with the /busy.
Let the RMT jerks spam me and waste their time. It makes me happy that they're wasting their time sending me tells and they'll never get anything out of it.
I suppose that's twisted justice, but there it is.
I do wish that SE would fix the problem, but I doubt they will. So call me a cynic as well as a dispenser of twisted justice. I'm good with that.
What RMT? (Balmung)
RMT? What are RMT? Are they still around?
*looks at server*
Oh right...they can't get on Balmung....*snicker* I haven't heard a tell since early in 2.0.
Brynhildr isn't too bad. I don't know if I'm allowed to mention Guildwork? If you use that and set up chat filter patterns (you can google to find good one), you will never get another RMT spam and don't have to turn off tells.
Something appears to have gone horribly wrong today, as I have received 14 tells in the span of 5 hours.
Wake up, SE! Someone's asleep at the wheel again!
Since yesterday actually, Gilgamesh's walls seem to have come down. To the defense!
Also the latest one I got had me talking to myself wondering why it didn't use the random name generator like all the other rmts I have gotten. Atleast looks nicer.
Kind of sad that I can no longer point at Blade & Soul's every-3-days anti-RMT patches that were doing great for a long time. The RMT messages are now utterly unreadable as to get through the filter, and yet they still spam. I can at least point out that Blade & Soul probably took more action on any given week after NA/EU release than FFXIV has taken in two years though.
Have you never played an mmo before?
There is literally no way to completely remove goldsellers.
They used to be way worse and would flood the "shout/yell" chat so SE is obviously doing something. As long as people buy there will be goldsellers, even if you remove player to player trading. Like a few newer mmos are doing.
That's for sure. They removed player trading in Black Desert, they set the prices on the marketplace and removed the ability to gift cash shop items, and yet, the global chat is still filled RMT spam. They don't whisper you unlike FFXIV, so filtering global chat is something you can do and should be doing regardless of RMT, but it's there.
I don't see why they can't just add an option to disable whispers from anyone who isn't on your friend's list.
On Excalibur I get about 2-3 tells a day. It's usually when I load into the main cities. It's not that bad really. On famfrit however before I transferred it was nearly every 5 mins. Some servers have greater bot probs than others because certain smaller servers become almost like hubs for them .
My fc mates and I have noticed a huge influx of RMT spam tells on Gilgamesh as well. We get 3+ every few minutes. I speculate this is likely tied to the Free Login Campaign; Gilgamesh was fairly quiet up until it started. Now it's like a constant barrage. If this is indeed the case then we've got to put up with it for about a month since it runs from 03/14/2016 to 04/13/2016. :/
Seriously SE, if you're going to have free login campaigns could you have the RMT Team ready to work double time.
