Suggestion: 99 totems = 1 lanner whistle

While you're at it, make the totems be redeemable for TT cards for slight MGP revenue.

Absolutely this. I was lucky enough to get my Sephirot Card early on, but I've only seen it drop once in over 30 clears. That's really annoying, I feel for those still trying to get it. Just make it like 3-5 totems for a card or something.

I totally agree with the 99 tokens for one mount! I have beaten more than 150 times both Bismarck and Ravana and + all the down before the patch, i totally master these fights now and i feel like i should be able to buy the mount at this point...(to make things worse i lost one bismarck mount with a 94 to a 95 -_-)

bisex mount i have seen drop 18 times in my 172 runs so far and fun fact i havent rolled higher than 24 except for once rolled a 70 and lost to a person who rolled 98...

se do we have to miss out if our lucks bad?

Another +1, I like this idea, a lot. Heck, I'd be willing to trade in three stacks of the darn things to get a lanner if I knew that is what it takes to get one with 100% assurance. Likewise for the 2.0 primals, perhaps only a single stack for them though, the horses are pretty common drops now.

We can already turn totems into GC seals and crafting materials. But a third option wouldn't hurt.

I like this idea too. 99 is definitely enough. I feel like I've been running Ravana forever now and I've only done around 40 farm runs. It's still a good amount to keep it rare and not too difficult either.

The fun part with this is that the drop rate will get buffed after a few patches, moreover the bosses will be even more facerolled with better gear. Despite all that, people spend unbelievable amounts of time to farm something like this only to get devalued to shit after a few months. Gratz for your time wasted i guess.

It's still the same mount. While I believe some things should stay rare in the game, everything has a shelf life.

A friendly advice. If you are past 150 runs (especially Ravana) just give it up. I did about 600+ runs and the bird dropped only 14 times. I lost all of them of course. It is not really worth wasting so much time for something used only to get your bum from point A to point B no more than thousand ingame meters... and that you rarely use anyway (except that 10-30 min when you need to show off in Idyllshire).

Also, doesn't it make you guys wonder why there is always someone who rolls 90+. It feels as if there is some sort of "black magic" involved.

Ignoring the weapons from Sephirot, you can exchange totems and helm fragments for weapons, and then either turn those in for GC seals or desynth them into crafting materials.

so 181 runs seen whisle 18 times and lose all rolls... then a couple of my friends who are casual run it like 3 times hey look at our white lanner....

so from what I gather cause I'm not winning my rolls I'm doing it wrong cause so many people seem to get it easy.

We have lots of people who seem to care about this mount. I just wonder, if they had this 99 token feature when the mounts launched if you guys would still want the mount as much?

It's like the Zu mount. People clamoring on about how huge and awesome it is, yet, who in their right mind rode their huge behemoth mount around all that much? As most people, I summoned it probably twice and thought, "well its neat I guess," then never summoned it again. It's the same with this Zu mount, but people care so much because they are uncommon so people want to have a unique look.

I do think at some point SE will allow tokens to be used like this thread is talking about, but even if it was tomorrow, I think suddenly the birds would be less cool all of a sudden to the majority. While some might think having something rare is prestigious or something, most I think just like a unique look cause most of the time our characters all look like invasion of the clones.

Do you see as many people flying around on kirin mounts anymore? What about pegasus? It's just primal birds for days now. Kirin is even more of a pain to get than a primal bird but lots of people have them now so less people ride around on it anymore. I'm just as guilty, my Kirin hasn't been summoned in forever....probably since 2.0. It's kind of difficult to maintain interest in a mount once you have it.

many people have lanners my server and fun fact most of the people dident even have to run quater of the runs I did to get it, oh wait I still don't have it.

SE has no excuse not to implement either 99 tokens bird or fix their broken rng system. like really the birds are no longer rare already btw.

The rarity/prestigious aspect doesn't even factor in at this point. It's true that a ton of people already have birds, they're all you see flying around or chilling out in Idyllshire. It wouldn't hurt anything to have the tokens be useful to purchase them already.

Kirin
Sephirot falcon
Ravana falcon
Turtle
Zu
Midgardsormr
White falcon
Fat chocobo
*Insert color* magitek
And of course, good ol chocos

I agree a bit with what you're saying, but at least on my server, it isn't to the extent you think it is. There are still daily pony farms at any given moment

Common Mounts on my server are pretty close too that^ Minus the Sep bird...only seen two on my server.

I'd go for the token system. I mean, we have an achievement for 200 kills as each tank gets a mount, but i still see a vast majority of tanks without these mounts.

This would greatly benefit the game

If you force someone to farm a primal 300+ times, with no reward, they will probably get annoyed and go play a more fun game.

Repeating the same content has limits.

I would love this, but like a lot of other people have mentioned. I don't think they'll do this.. they'll just increase the drop rate eventually.

I would love this to be a thing, I used to farm the ponies back when they were first released religiously. If I was logged in, I was either queued up for an extreme or in a pony farm. Even then, the only pony I had until about 3.1 was the Ifirit Pony! I'm kind of dreading farming for the birds. Just yesterday I saw my first whistle and lost it by 1 (I rolled a 91 against someone's 92). So a token system would be great honestly, it's not like I need the tokens for anything else anyway!

Also, for the person questioning the use of mounts, I do use my Kirin quite a lot as it's the one mount I worked the hardest to get. The issue is, I don't like the ambient sound effect on the wings so I don't use it in heavenward areas much. In heavens ward areas, my go to mount is normally the Pegasus. So.. Two birds-err ponies with one stone?

But it's a primal. Every fight is a repetitive joke. No strategy is needed. You just repeat the exact same thing 100s of times.

If someone wants a mount, they may have to repeat identical content 100s of time to get it.

Saying "no one's forcing you to do it" is just an excuse for bad game design.

They are fun when they are a challenge
And can be fun 10, 20, maybe even 30 times

but 100+ times is a waste of anyone's time

And Yes, no one is forcing anyone to do it
But no one is forcing people to stay subbed either
And I know a lot of people quit because of the repetition (just visit gamefaqs boards once in a while)

So it's effect is probably more negative than positive.

certainly never farmd in FF11 either. NMs only spawning once every 24RL hours only have 1% drop rate

remember people. nobody is sayin to remove the bird as a normal drop. just adding alternate means of gettin it it ur RNG and/or rolls realy suck.

its not like everyone had to run ravana 130 times to get hive weapons for every job

So, you have an issue with doing it 100 times and say it's only fun for 20 runs, yet you're here advocating for a reward after 99 runs? Your argument doesn't make much sense :/

rare item drops are a good game design not a bad one and I would not call birds even rare since they seem to have about 10% drop rate, if you want more variety do the fight in DF onece in a while or do it with minimum item level, or just cap your lore with it, there really no reason to do expert roulette ever again if you play more than a few hours every week.

I think that even if SE decided to make it possible to trade totems, it wouldn't definitely be just 99 of them. From my experience I know that you can easily farm this much in less than a day (if you find a decent group), so everyone could just get it... even freshies who just reached lvl 60. Trading two full stacks would make more sense as it should require some decent grind. If you think about this, even the new pvp mount requires you to win 200 feast matches.

I'm so hoping the tokens get used eventually for trading for mounts. And no I don't care/mind if someone can grind it in 1 day vs someone working on it for half a year with 1 run a day or something. Different people have different time to play. It gives all a defined set goal to aim for and not just /pray to rng

Even if it's not 99, and more like 200 of the totems.. I don't care. As long as you can turn them in for the mount. Because after doing bis ex (currently at 215 runs and totems) and still being screwed over by RNG.. it's starting to get repetitive.

As much as I really want this, being at nearly 2 stacks of totems and no bird, the reality is we have a better chance of getting SMN's egi glamours by patch 3.25-3.3 before they decide to turn a large amount of tokens into a free mount.

In all honesty, we all know they'll simply increase the drop rate by like 5 or 10% (I don't remember their initial increased drop rates on ponies making a huge difference) in another patch or two, before the rate increase is even noticeable, which comes 3 or 4 patches later, because we already know how reluctant the devs are to deviating from their "systems."

Heck, their "solution" to making the wind-up Echidna and coffin lid seem less uncommonly rare is to slap the Echidna card in the 3rd chest that now drops every run. Except now the 3rd chest usually just has the card anyway...

putting mounts and minions on 0.2% rng drops sucks , we all agree , the question here is WHY? , rpgs need rng for drops , otherwise isnt fun ......but the guy with 200+ runs for sure isnt having any fun....if its easy and every1 has it , they arent rare anymore.......or u dont feel "special" , look around every lucky player is running around with 1 , they werent special not even on release day.

i dont care, i would love to have 1? yeah thordan one looks cool , but i wont farm it because i dont want to go insane .... or frustrated , or wanting to quit i game i enjoy because SE wanted to introduce mounts AGAIN with horrible drop rates...........because, who knows ? :S
