Yoshi P said not to worry about getting zeta the first step of anima isn't that bad

cause the initial step is only for a 170 relic.... but if you play one of the classes that has no ss on the relic then the 200 ver that's run 10 dutys btw.

really I don't care how long it takes 210 due to the fact I missed the initial raiding cycle now people only want clear people in their groups.

when 3.0 first came out I played DRG got that 60 then eventually leveled my MNK. my DRG dps was kinda bad the first week alex sav came out was
like 1.2k. so since then I leveled and mastered mnk and no one wants a new person who never cleared any alex sav in group now so have to wait till
next raiding cycle that's possibly 3.2...

The first quest is a joke, and an insult to all the people that spent months and millions of gil to get their Zeta; the fact that they think that the first quest is equivalent to all the work that it required originally to get a Zeta is beyond me.

It's not even close to the original Atma drop rate, not by a longshot...

I got all 18 crystals in less than a days work, before Atma nerf it took me a couple weeks to get 12 and I had better luck than most people.

werewolf.... your forgetting the key thing here and that's the whole rng thing what may take you less than a days work could take another two days plus doing the same effort as you did in the one but doing it twice...

I don't think it would take 48+ hours of farming for anyone even with really bad rng luck to get 18 crystals, it probably took me about 8-10 hours of actual farming to get all 18 crystals and just for a reference roughly 3-4 hours to get 12 atmas (and 50-60 hours to get 12 atmas pre nerf).

You're over estimating the drop rate while it is indeed low it is no where near the pre-nerf atma drop rate, considering you need 3 of each element some people would be going weeks without ever coming close to finishing if that was the case, If you're actually doing fates at a fast pace they will come in a day or 2. depending on long you actually do them. drops will obviously vary with people. but they are not as bad as you're thinking.

One of my FC mates had done over 1000 fates before he got the atmas. Not even exaggerating, he nearly quit the game over it lol

I feel you on that last step- I am gil-challenged.

I'm still collecting crystals (finished Coerthas and Sea of Clouds, 2/3 on Churning Mists so far), but I've been doing it super casually while leveling my WHM- I want to see if I can hit 60 by the time I finish collecting them all (currently 58!). :3

But the last step? Ugh. Ugggggh. Hyperion always price gouges, but these are ridiculous. I'm going to try to convince the few crafters in my FC to help me out, but still. Ugh.

Yeah I was quite lucky with pre nerf atma drops, a lot of people I know took much longer to get them XD

Collecting 18 atmas has taken some people only a day. My Zeta took thousands of light, 12 atma, 900 mobs, hundreds of dungeons, and much more time than it would take to obtain a measly 18 atma from HW zones.

Lol you think this is bad? You don't know of the horrors of the pre-nerf Atma grind. I spent a week getting all the drops, some of the guildies took a month to get them. Compared to that, the drop rates on the crystals are almost heavenly. And if you think Step 1 is bad, you don't want to see Step 3.

I'm just here to join the chorus of people laughing at anyone who thinks this relic grind is bad. Y'all weren't around for the 1.0 relic. I never finished mine because like so many others I never got the primal seals. It was HALF the drop rate of the ORIGINAL atmas, and you only got one chance every 48 hours.

Honestly, it's all down to personal RNG. I've heard of some people on my server who've gotten all the crystals for the first stage in just two-three hours, while I've done it for at least 4-5 hours and only have 4/18 crystals. It's just the nature of RNG. I'm sure there's some lucky assh-, err, fellow out there who's done a total of 18 FATEs and gotten all the crystals in one sweep. I don't mind it, because it gives something to actually work towards as a long term goal that doesn't require seven other people coordinating multiple times a week.....

because it was WORSE in 2.0 (yeah it was no doubt) , doesnt make it any better now...

this is pre nerf atma grind it's the same content and I did the same thing here as I did there, except then i actually had people to play with but those people kind of don't play much anymore

It's really not that bad though.
Pre-nerf atma had a worse drop rate.

The shard farming isnt even hard, I literally have 12 of every crystal only fate farming about 8 hours over 2 days

Difference is the drop rate here is closer to how atma grinding is today. This makes it better than how it was then. I do suggest using PF to find people willing to do the grind as well, it's how I've been getting my pieces (when not leveling AST).

I did use pf and i did level pld while getting my crystals, I'm just saying the mindless grind over playing for a whole day straight and half another day was ugh. when I got done i didn't feel satisfied or anything. It was just oh i got that first exhausting thing done out of this 3 part series. not ot mention i have never been so bleh in my life from the no lifeing that part

The problem with the original atmas wasn't the drop rate, it was the fact that you needed your zenith equipped, meaning you couldn't level alternate classes doing it.

You guys do see that they're trying to get you to level second and third classes, right?

The first step ISN'T that bad, it's the 3rd step that's utter garbage. I would certainly take the crystal farming over the 80 tokens and 16 HQ items.

I'll wait for a nerf to the final step to obtain the new relic weapon. The grind to obtain the ingredients from the merchant is over the top. Don't sweat it. It's just for looks. People are upset enough for dumping so much gil into the materia for their 2.0 relic, to have it be a turn in for weapons with static secondary stats. It's laughable.

This is just a wall Yoshi's team implemented in order to keep you from getting bored and quiting the game. Honestly, I think it's a joke of a decision but whatever. I'll wait for more content that's worth what little free time I can spare for XIV.

I have my zeta and I refuse to turn it in. Grinding FATEs is not so bad, I still remember for atma when it took me two days at least to get my atma from Western Thanalan ><.

The first two steps would have been perfect as 3.0 and 3.1 content too. You can tell by the iLvls that it was their original intent. Instead they've held back on it so long and tossed a crap grind on top. Frankly I don't think I trust SE to make MMOs anymore.
