Where in this forum should i post about my willingness to buy some HQ gear for my level?
i would take a look on your servers market board. if in a FC ask if they could get you some up to date gear. i do it with my FC. i craft the HQs if i can at no charge as i have a lot of left overs.
Take a look... but don't expect to find reasonable prices. Unless it's an item that sells often but not on favorites list, it will likely be expensive. If people buy it a lot though, prices get driven down out of competition. Favorites though, they usually stay pretty stagnant at a price (but it's also usually reasonable).
But as an idea, usually an HQ item below is better than the next NQ item you can get. And NQ is normal quality, not low quality as a heads up. Luckily, there is no low quality items :P
Sometimes you'll find decent prices on the Market Board. If you've noticed someone who spends a lot of time in the towns and you always see crafting gear, you may want to try being a little outgoing and simply ask if they'd be willing to help you out with making better gear. It's hit or miss though on whether or not they will. Some will do it for free, some won't do it at all, and some will ask you to provide the supplies (which pending what you have available, this may be easy or hard). But considering your level, I wouldn't expect the materials needed to craft you gear would be difficult for a high level crafter. I'd offer to make you stuff, but I'm not on your server.
Yup. Look over at your server's forum, there's probably some recruitment threads for FCs or you can post there if you want. You can also make a party finder looking for a crafter in game, which might be faster than waiting for a forum response. There may also be a new player help link shell on your server. I was part of one on Leviathan that was a full 128-member strong.
This is getting ridiculous with the dungeon waiting time, i have to wait like 20-30 mins every time i wanna enter, isnt there cross-realm matchmaking?
I wanna play the game, not sit on the internet and on forums while mousing over the game to see if i got a queue.
It should never take that long to find 4 other people to do the dungeon with, 10 mins at most, but not 20-30.
Yes, you match up with all in your data center. So for the most part, you shouldn't have issues. But DPS always have longer waits. 20-30 min wait times sound about right to me for DPS honestly. Find a friendly tank or healer to queue up with you though, and you'll notice a HUGE drop in wait time. There are a lot more DPS out there than tanks and healers. The matching is sometimes iffy though... i know there were issues with it, but it was supposedly fixed in the last maintenance patch. But I wasn't noticing much of an issue beforehand, soooo I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed anything.
I highly suggest running around an area and doing fates while waiting. It gets you company seals and experience while you wait.
Unfortunately, 20-30 mins is about average for a dps queue in the low level dungeons. I think melee classes are a little faster, but ranged typically has the longest wait. The best thing to do while waiting is FATEs. Once you get to lv45 there is a quick way to get to 50, about 2 hours depending on how many breaks you take. And that is doing around 50 or so leves in Mor Dhona, over by St. Coinachs (however it's spelled). Do the Grand Company levequests and the normal levequests. They will take 3-4 mins each at lv45, getting shorter and shorter each level until level 49 where most of them take about a min. (there are 2 GC leves that are a mandatory 5 mins, I usually avoid them). Same exp as fates in a fraction of the time. I've done this for most my classes, it's a lot faster than waiting for dungeon queues and even fate grinding.
Yea, I should've mentioned that. If the dungeon pops while you're doing a leve then it will pretty much screw you out of that leve. You either have to quit the leve to join dungeon, or cancel the dungeon to continue leve. I wouldn't say it's not viable, though, since the same thing can happen with a fate. It's just that fates don't cost an allowance
That is what being DPS is all about, long que times. The only real way to counter that is to get friends whom you play with (whether its real life or FC friends). I usually do dungeons with my sister and two other friends. We make up 2 DPS, 1 healer, and 1 tank. So we never have to wait to get into a dungeon ;)
Is there a way to transmog stuff in the game? I picked up some new chest armor with good stats but it looks horrible and id rather have the looks of my old armor.
Also, whats the fastest way to get seals?
Seals is turn in old pink and green dungeon gear or do fates or some gathering, crafting(this also gives exp to those classes).
I assume since you are new to the game, you have yet to finish the grand company hunting log. If this is the case, DEFINITELY do that first for more seals. Way faster than fate grinding or dungeon grinding for turn in's. I have a feeling you didn't rank up completely to second lieutenant (max rank atm). I don't remember if the ability to turn in gear was last ranking or the one right before it. But either way, they are great ways at end game to gain seals when you no longer have easier means, but the easiest and quickest would be the grand company hunting logs to start. But some can actually be a bit difficult if you try to do the next level too early (like, trying to do lvl 40 grand company hunts right when you hit 40. The monsters range from 40-49, so those high levels will be a bit tough). If you got your chocobo, it'll be easier. If you got a friend or 2, it'll be easy peasy.
As for the changing gear looks, yea, it's glamour. But as stated before, you have to unlock it first =\
But once you do, you can use it for all classes (so when you start that new class at level 1, you could technically glamour right away... don't know why you would, but you could!).
Well, onto level 50 then, i no longer need any seals, turns out i could unlock the dungeon with a different quest.
Anyway, i went to Mor Dhona to get Levequests to grind xp and i cant find any, am i missing something? I did the introductory quest for levequests as well.
EDIT: i found them, nevermind, onto level 50 i go. :3
I think Dzemael Darkhold can be unlocked via the grand company or completing certain quests in Coerthas, but I do believe at some point you'll need to run it to rank up with the grand company. Same with Aurum Vale which is a lv47 dungeon, iirc. It's been so long since I had to unlock these I sorta forget how to, though lol
Good luck on the grind! Once you get 50 there are more things to do, a lot of quests, new dungeons and trials to unlock. I wouldn't even know where to begin if I was starting over with a fresh 50
Ill probably try out the dark knight with this character once i go to lvl 50.
By the way, does the story continue past level 50? Its part of the reason of what kept me playing for as long as this.
Any things i should know about the dark knight class?
The story does indeed continue. A lot. You actually have to complete all the way up through the 2.55 story to get into Ishgard and therefore unlock any of the new Jobs.
Dark Knight involves a lot of mp management, but it's not that difficult once you get the hang of it. I recommend leveling Gladiator to level 22 first for Provoke though and Marauder for Foresight (level 2).
Yea lots of story, and then some more. Of course you are going through a lot of lv50 story content that was released a bit at a time for 2 years prior to expansion, so it's quite a bit. Most of the story after that will carry you from lv51 to 60, then a few more lv60 story quests that they just added.
I've been leveling up DRK finally, I like it a lot, but it is definitely the most complicated of the 3 tanks. If you are interested in tanking, definitely start with Gladiator to at least lv22. Provoke is the most mandatory cross-class for all 3 tanks. Once you do that, level up Marauder (recommend lv26 for Mercy Stroke). MRD is a bit more active tank style than gladiator, and you'll be able to cross-class Provoke, Flash and Convalescence. Well, early on they are both pretty straight forward, lv35+ Warrior branches out a bit, moreso than Paladin IMO. If you do all that and still think you want to check out Dark knight, then go for it. You'll have the most important cross-class skills already and a decent understanding of how to maintain aggro and manage cooldowns.

Some might argue that War is more complicated, and in some aspects it can be, but maybe I've just been playing it so long it doesn't really seem as technical as Drk.
More mandatory leveling up another class for important skills or other things?
Ugh, not this again, ill not bother with the class then, might as well continue with my current class.
I really wanted to try out the class, oh well.
I just have this huge feeling of dissapointment right now.
Oh well, thanks for the help guys, i appreciate it a lot, i wouldnt have gone this far or known this much without you all.
Yea this game requires a lot of cross classing just to play your job, but even more to maximize each one. And for the most part, casters and physical classes don't cross much. PLD does with CNJ and your class does ARC. And unfortunately you can't even get the 3new classes until you officially enter HW content
I havent actually tried the gladiator so ill give it a whirl and see where it goes, hopefully with gladiator being a tank i can enter guildhests instantly(those group leves) so that i can both get solid expirience(with tanking) as well as get good exp for my class.
But yeah, 5 more levels for the new classes?
The levels from 46 to 50 were a pain cause of the lack of quests around my level but you guys recommending levequests fixed it, i hope the next 5 are easier.
The basics are:
Marauder to level 2 for Foresight
Gladiator to level 22 for Provoke
For tanking?
I actually tried marauder before and i sorta hate it and i cant bear leveling it to level 26, but level 2 is easy peasy.
have you joined a FC? they can give you XP buffs and you may find other people to help you run through dungeons and give you quicker que times
yea, never accept those random FC invites. might be something you would want to consider especially if you find someone within an FC who is leveling around the same level
actually, have you started paying your subscription yet? If not, the recruit a friend can still be done I believe. You will get a circlet that gives extra xp buff for anything below lvl 25 (nice for getting started on new classes). it hurts a little in dungeons as you don't have your head on with decent gear, but if you feel comfortable with the class, it usually doesn't matter in the dungeons up to lvl 25 that much. And gladiator is probably the most basic of the tanks. It's very straightforward and easy to figure out. It's also the base for all tanks as it provides most of the good cross class skills for any of the tanks (biggest one's being provoke and convalescence). Awareness if nice for higher level Warrior's as well.
As for FC's. It's usually better to find a nice one that you think will work for you rather than just accepting randoms. Large FC's usually have more buffs running and more people available to throw gear and materials at you, but it's also usually less personable. You usually just find yourself a small sub group within the FC that you hang out with. Smaller, it's a lot easier to get to know everyone, but they usually (not always) tend to have less available to you due to less people being able to provide things.
At what level does the Gladiator learn Convalescence?
Also, where can i find peoples recruitment codes? Why cant i send any PMs?
It's a level 10 you learn it. It increases your hp recovery from heals by 20% for 20 sec.
Unfortunately, there is no PM system here. Many have made mention it would be a nice addition... (still nothin)
If you want to use one, you can feel free to use mine. There's also a thread somewhere on the forums.
Recruitment Code: G8Z4XFFZ
Damn, never seen a new player complain sooooo much about.. everything o_o
Ι voice any and all complaints i have so that i can solve them and better my expirience, would you rather have me keep them inside me?
Id rather voice them out and fix them rather than having them bottle up inside me and keep frustrating me, voicing them out makes my expirience a whole lot better, and it really has made it a whole lot better.
"The Reason Roaille"
How do i do this piece of ---- i mean, wonderfully designed not flawed at all quest?
I see other people having the same problem on the internet, the 4th wave is too much to handle, no matter the iLvl.
Not to mention the incompetent NPC that keeps dying.
EDIT: I completed it really easily after posting this for some reason, oh well.
I mean, they aren't really mandatory until you get into endgame raiding. Some are more important than others, but just for leveling up they aren't "mandatory" just incredibly helpful. Like Black Mage doesn't need anything outside of Raging Strikes from Archer. Later on when they are dropping 10k fire IVs then Quelling strikes helps some. Virus and Eye for and Eye are helpful in high-damage endgame raids but not helpful for leveling. Same with the tanks, Provoke isn't "mandatory" really until you get to some of the extreme trials.Hell there aren't even tank swaps in first or second coil, but again it's incredibly helpful in early levels because it's the only threat/taunt in the game. The other cooldowns like foresight, convalescence, etc are all nice to have, but not mandatory really until much later when you need a lot of tank CDs to survive. None of them are mandatory if you just want to play the game, the only time they are really mandatory is for end game raiding and such, where no one is going to want a healer without swiftcast, a tank without provoke, a black mage without quelling, etc etc.
Usually always a particular kill order to make it easier
Healers > Archers > Claws > Colossus Healer then Colossus > Vanguards > then finish off Eline and foot soldiers
Edit: Sorry, traditionally turn 2 had a tank swap mechanic, and turn 6 has a swap mechanic too, though these were typically ignored in favor of bringing an extra dps.
If you fail a few times, you get the echo to help you out as well ^^
Do you guys know any leveling areas or tips to go to 56?
The story questline had too few level 55 quests and little to no hubs when doing them so now im stuck at level 55 with like 900k exp and the next levels at 2 million.
I saw the minimap of lvl 55 quests but they are all scattered about instead of in 1 concentrated area.
Do your roulettes each day. Leveling should help a lot. I think 55+ dungeons got EXP boosted so run those as well, just make sure you're alive when bosses are killed so you get EXP. Don't do side quests for maps you haven't unlocked flying for yet though. Find the flying side quests, do them and then do the other side quests or they can get very annoying.
Yeah, that pretty much solved my leveling problem, ive had no problems keeping up so far despite me doing little to no sidequests.
Anyway, i wanna try out DRK first for a few levels before i go deeper into it(like getting provoke, etc...)where do i put all of my bonus attributes to?
I googled it and got mixed results.
