Good honest questions
Shameless bumps are SHAMELESS!
Great thread with well written questions. It is to bad that more threads are not conducted in this manner. :)
The only thing I would add to your questions is: What is the plan for chocobo's? I am not sure why, but I really want to have my own personal, customized chocobo that I can use in a free roam type of play.
I thought about inquiring after chocobos, but several people have in various interviews, and they always get the same answer. We already know that Yoshi-P feels the lack of chocobos and airships is one of the things that is making 14 feel so much like just another game instead of a Final Fantasy game. While I would love to have more details - I'm sure we all would - I wouldn't expect an answer to that question to be any different to the answers that we have already received.
^^
this ture but the sooner they come the better
Another shameless bumpity bump in the night.
shameless bump and solicitation for Likes!
Very nice questions, would be interesting to hear an answer to them. :) Nice to have a positive thread on here for once. :D
Good Questions... I pressed the Like Button ;D
Pooka, I don't like it. I love it!
I am in favor of making statements simple and easy to understand.
I am strongly against trolls and trolling in general.
I am strongly against dumb people who accuse people of trolling when said people have not posted anything that is disruptive to the thread and have merely just voiced their opinions on the subject in a simple readable format
Nice questions all around.
To comment on #4 in particular, they have some things like this, but sadly not to the extent XI managed. In Mor Dhana, when it rains, Frogs come out and start croaking and chirping on the rocks. I liken these Frogs more to the Owl that looks at you in the Jugner Forest from XI.
On a complete side-note: Anyone remember those slab tablets in XI that talked about the summons and other lore that were scattered around the world? ;v Good times ;;
Good post.. Oh and look we have a like button now... Me thinks I will click on that then type this little sentence to keep the thread /bumped.
Excellent post! Hitting the like button and I hope you get the questions answered. I agree with the OP about the chocobo question, Yoshi-P seems to dance around that question at every interview. This is just my opinion, but i'm guessing we're not going to be seeing chocobos until we have access to Ishgard, maybe the same with airships.
Good post hopefully it will get pased on to the dev team.
I am wondering if there is something at fault with the game engine that is stopping them implementing chocobos, unless of course they are holding back for PS3/expansion.
Don't just bump, hit "Like" on the OP as well. It's there for a reason.
Well this so-called dumb person was merely stating that walking in and stating you're against SE giving this thread any attention whatsoever without any explanation is, by definition, trolling. You're not being "simple and easy to understand," you're just trying to be aggravating.
Thanks though.
I really enjoyed reading those questions. I especially am interested in the question regarding environments
I added question #8, finally, after spending so much time in the Item/Synth/Gathering forums.
Bippity Boppity bump~
Really want to see these questions answered, would be great~
Liked. Posting my reply to see this thread blow up and get some much needed love (and answers!)
Let's continue to have discussions on future questions we would like to ask. And that way this thread will be a depository for the questions, while having the bump factor, and being constructive all the while.
I am for SE giving this thread attention.
I am for having civil ineractions without resorting to name calling.
I have one question, if anybody has seen it answered please tell me. Why couldn't they just put loading screens inbetween zones? Wouldn't that allow them to have better graphics with less server lag? If I'm wrong, I want to know. But I never had a problem with loading screens, they were always safe to me
Hi Pooka,
This is unfortunately completely unrelated to the thread, but I was part of Sanctus Refero up until I had to take a little over a month off from the game. When I came back after the server shutdown, it seems as though the pearl I had for it was destroyed.
Did you guys remake it? And who should I talk to about getting a new pearl?
Find me Alona Rhys, Sterne Evans, or Pooka Pucel. We did remake, and are now 100strong (active) players. We'll get you back in as soon as you can track us donw!
@Anathiel: I think its because they wanted to create as seamless of a world as possible. FFXIV is touted as being the next-gen MMO, and so by using a hybrid of none-zoning areas and zoning areas they were able to create much larger zones. So while there may be only "one" zone in Thanalan for example that is the size of four or five zones in FF11, its actually four or five seamless zone to make it seem like one zone. Likewise while crossing into Black Shroud it is an actual hard zone - required because the graphics used are completely different. I'm only guessing, but from a design perspective it makes sense.
Honestly, if it meant smaller zones with more variety in graphics that were beautiful...I. think I could go for that...I don't know, I guess I'm just for smaller more varied zones in general, however they implement it. I just figured it would be less stress on the servers and our own personal computers (and future consoles) to make them zoned. Lol, but I'm not a dev just a guy who is curious and wants to know what yoshii-p has in mind for the rezoning
Well, to be honest, zones wouldn't help at all.
What people don't realize, is that zones really aren't as copy-paste as they think they are (with the exception of Gridania). The terrain itself is no more "repetitive" than any other MMO out there...
The issue is that it tends to lack objects. Placing objects throughout your terrain is what helps to give the illusion that it isn't repetitive. If there were more buildings, or natural wonders, or more structures in general, there would be no problem. For me, personally, however... I like it. I like the realistic, natural scenery they've made. But I can see how some people would find it "bland".
As for the technical aspects of zones... putting in zones would put no less stress on the servers or our computers. The same amount of information would be transferred between... there is just a difference in when and how much. Right now, the zone is basically consistently loading in very small increments. With zones, it just loads a LOT of information all at once. So from a technical standpoint, it's actually easier for a connection to drop while loading a new zone than by just loading parts of it at a time.
Before the November patch, I could experience the "zoning" effect and it's still there for some places.
In Thalanan or La Noscea, when you're running between camps, you usually go through a narrow corridor/tunnel location. And pre-November, I would often see some kind of loading symbol come up as I'm still moving. One time I hit an invisible wall and couldn't move forward for a few seconds.
The only other time you can tell invisa-zoning has occurred is when you are auto following someone and they cross the invisible zoning barrier (like entering a dungeon or leaving the city). That someone will have temporarily disappeared, then reappear on your screen.
Loading screen while entering the game might be nice.
Shameless bump and solicitation for more comments and likes!
A lot of people were helpful in question #8, aside from LS chatter, there has been a lot of stuff in the Synthing forum about it as well.
With regard to question 5...if we can't have the ability to chat in multiple LS's at once (which I wholeheartedly think we should have), can we at least have a text command to change ls? (eg, /equipls "LinkshellName")
This would be spectacularly useful in a number of specific instances (such as long DoH or DoL sessions) and would generally be more convenient all-around for social gameplay.
In fact, more text commands to accomplish a lot of the menu actions would be fantastic.
I have a question for Yoshi-P and our moderators, lol, they're all seasoned MMO players right? Did they play FF:XI? if they did, what race and class did they play as? and when they play FF:XIV what race and class do they like play as well?
Very nice thread, I would like answers for most if not all of those questions too. We need more stuff like this.
While I happen to be very interested in that question as well, it seems a little off-topic for the type of question I'm trying to learn. That said, Yoshi-P at least HAS answered that question in an interview, I believe, stating that he did not play FFXI, but did play western MMOs. Admittedly, I could be misquoting, but that seems to be what I remember.
I know, there are more serious questions but he does seem to answer light hearted questions as well. And you know, you can tell a lot about a gamer by the race and class they play. A taru warrior in ff:xi was always somebody who could take a joke you know? Lol, I was just curious.
I hope some of the serious questions get answered in this thread this thing has so many replies it would be stupid for them to ignore it.
