I, like many others, went Au Ra. Changed about 3 times just as Au Ra, was never happy with any Au Ra I made.

And now I'm moon cat. Definitely a lot, lot happier with how she looks and besides some hair/tattoo changes, I think I'll be sticking with this look for quite a while.

I'm boring, I've kept Enki the same race/clan, gender, body size/skintone/hairstyle/haircolour right through from version 1.0 through ARR's Alpha and Beta, and now into ARR (the only thing I changed was I fixed a mistake I'd made when creating her in 1.0 concerning a confusion with Eorzea's odd calendar in setting her nameday). But I'm so attached to her appearance I just can't bear to change it! (And given the fact I'm always getting people compliment me on her appearance I must have done something right then!).

But anyway, I may as well show how Enki has been depicted from the beginning, including her Vana'dielian counterpart.... (pics coming)

I don't have a pictures displaying my characters evolution, but it went a little like this...

I may have a problem. It's a lot spread over a long period of time, but I can never decide because there are parts of each race i find incredibly derpy.

Thinking back, there have been quite a few steps to my character's growth:

- My very first character screenshot - (Beta3)
Newbie Adventurer that just controlled his first pet: Emerald Carbuncle. Brown eyes with Light brown short hair and a Tattoo.

A bit into the game, I decided to lighten up the hair a bit and turn his eyes blue.

- A Tankless Job - (2.3)
The moment he picked up tanking, he was in for trouble. Scars and even lighter hair. The tattoo also lightened up.

At the beginning of 3.0, a new heroine took over for the new Adventures in Ishgard! She still looks very insecure.

After the story of the new heroine, the main character reappeared. Mature look remained with new Ishgardian flair.

When all the instance quests say "BRING A GROUP OF ADVENTURERS WITH YOU" well...together they guys all form that group >.< (I'm on 7...I need an 8th xD)

Sooooo, the only thing that changed is my hairstyle and gave it a lighter color. Other than that, there's not much change at all.
I also gave him black eye shadow to look a bit worn-out.

Haha, yeah, justifying race changes for our internal character story is..hard, to say the least.
Making them all seperate characters is a good idea :)

My Au Ra was a different character after I had killed off Miqo-Meo.
Having changed back to Miqo'te now is still completely messing up my internal story..xD

First off I'm really jealous of ppl wo stick to the (nearly) same appearance all the time. I wish I could do the same but I love so many things from different races - it's a curse and a blessing that u can play everything on one character. And I'm just too lazy to level alts T_T

I still switched back and forth with the looks for my au ra and were never REALLY satisfied untill I found out it's the face that will never make me happy. I love it and it's really beautiful but looks just too nice and calm - also the horns started to bother me

I'm really happy with my Au Ra now but I wish she had the highlander and femroe emotes (and was as big as the males >_>) :/ I still miss them both and I feel I'll change sometime back to highlander...and then to femroe - I grew attached to them and still have a bunch of screenshots I wont deleted even if my folder takes ages to load

That's a great idea. :3 I felt like I totally betrayed my character after about a week as an Au Ra. If I hadn't made her so similar to my Miqo'te I might have gotten away with the same. xD Maybe I can just pretend it was some crazy transfiguration spell lol.

The thought of the effects of Fantasia on other people in world is kind of amusing to me. I finished the 2.55 storyline as a female Miqo'te, then picked up at 3.0 as a male Au Ra. You'd think NPC's at Dragonhead would've been awfully confused, considering the enormous differences. Do they even notice? Maybe it's just something that's known to happen to adventurers every so often and it's considered rude to mention it. "Well, hello there. You're looking... um... rather well. Did you perhaps... ah... get a new haircut?"

Like many others, I changed to an Au Ra when they were first introduced in 3.0. I was finally able to make one that I thought looked nice with red hair, and I really enjoyed there emotes. Playing a Mithra for so many years, I thought it was nice to take a little break. I had trouble settling on the limbal eyering color, I was jumping back and forth at the end there between red and green.

But it was too similar to the real derplander and a lot of bot for my taste, so I changed with the 2.0 release in his (adopted) daughter.

Facial features, eyes and hair color are the same of the Wildwood. The reason? Her inner darkness grow so strong to taint her own body.

Until the patch 2.55 there wasn't so big change, only a little change of hairstyle and the extension of her "aetherial scar"

After the 2.55 her hair, and her scar was dyed black in order to avoid capture from brass blades and cristal brave. It was the "Merune Vergel period"

I love how many people have freckles!

There are no pictures of my first two characters. But when I started playing, I was a Male Highlander. Kinda looked like Doctor Quest. I didn't really like it and when I got my Phantasia, I became a Female Roe. She had green wavy hair. Then during a fight with Titan, she fell off. And fell for a very long time. From 2.2ish to 3.0 to be precise.

And when she hit the ground she had horns and a tail. Also, a complete mastery of the angry face.

Picture #1: First a low quality image of my character from FFXI at present, can't find any old pictures of her back in the 75 era were I played as a DRK, lost to time on one of my old PC's most likely.

Picture #2: And now on to FFXIV. I started in 1.0 as the Miqo'te seen below, after class changing for a bit I settled on playing as a GLA.

Picture #3: And again near the end of 1.0 as a PLD, even as people laughed at us and called us lolpld cause WAR was better in every way I stuck it out and wielded my sword and shield till the very end were I became a Legacy Adventurer.

Picture #4: Some time later I would once again play FFXIV when 2.0 was finished, my character carried over poorly, skin color, eye color, even voice, were all off, so after some time in the new character creature she walked on Erozea once more.

Picture #5: Mid 2.0 I felt as if my character was lacking somehow, she just didn't look very good once I stepped back and really looked at her. I didn't have makeup or face paint or anything on her, on top of that her skin was far to far into the red tone (what I call R and Y context, or Red and Yellow), so I set about trying to make her look better. And many potions later this was the outcome. A new cuter hairdo, lip color, cheek blush, a whole new her.

Picture #6: But after a time it just felt like I'd over done it a little, or a lot. and her skin/lip/blush colors still felt wrong. So a many potions later and a good few ours of balancing colors I finally, finally had her looks perfect in my opinion. A nice middle ground on the Red and Yellow tones for her skin, lip color that blended in with her skin only leaving a faint shine on her lips, and check blush that felt simple let nice. I couldn't really find a way to improve her any. And that's how she would remain till the end of 2.0.

Picture #7: Then 3.0 hit, and with it changes to lighting and shadows. The changes suddenly made everything look wrong on my character again, her blush almost couldn't be seen and her lips were a very odd dull brown color different from her skin. Once again many an hour was spent trying to make her look good again. And finally after many tries she looked better even then before. I'm a DRK in the picture but I've been slipping more and more back into my role as a PLD, most like going to be PLD for life through thick and thin!

I became a Miqo'te! I kept the grey and red eyes due to the fact that I had them since beta. I kinda didn't like being a Miqo'te after like two days because they're way too common. I honestly don't know why I even switched to one.

I'm a FemRoe! I kept seeing FemRoes around the game and I spent a ton of time in the Show Your Roe thread that I became enamoured with their beauty. I had just came back to the game after being gone for nearly a year and buyable fantasias were finally a thing so I bought myself one. I chose Hellsguard initially because my husband is one so I thought he'd like it. That didn't last very long though...

Turns out I hated being Hellsguard. Who knew? I'm a sucker for unnatural skintones so I had to go Sea Wolf. Grey skin always seemed so pretty to me so naturally I became a grey goddess. Took my husband some time to get used to but he loves it now.

And this is me now! I made some minor tweaks to myself because I didn't feel like I was perfect. I ditched the grey eye and just kept the red one and became blind in the other eye. I got muscley as well because who doesn't love muscley babes? Sadly you can't see it in that picture. The only thing I ever change now is my hair but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be sticking to my Minfillia hair for a while. Sometimes, though, I feel like changing faces for a certain facial tattoo. Maybe I will some day.

Even though I've never changed my main character in anyway, I did create an alternate to be his younger version.

My main character has always been a veteran type character with a grizzled look of experience.

I initially was going to make him bald, but then figured there would many characters like that, so I picked a look that I figured rarely anyone would have, so Beatles mop top with ugly old guy face and Amish beard it was. It turns out bald characters are very rare, but I ended up liking my character the way it is. There hasn't been any new hairstyle I like, so I just kept the same look since 2.0. Highlander is just the only race I physically thinks looks cool, but 90+% always use the same 2 faces, so my least used face looks different from most, especially when I see someone with it, they usually have a full beard. I don't think I've seen another character that looks like me in game yet, so that is good.

Man now I WISH I had screenshot everything I made.

Not satisfied after getting lala envy I tried tweaking my AuRa every which way and came out with a lilac haired/violet eyed AuRa but lala envy won so I went that route.

First I did a pouted lip green eyed purple haired lala but I STILL wasn't satisfied until I ended up with a pretty teal eyed lala:

After the new hairstyles came out I changed her hairstyle to the one I currently have but I ended up paying the aesthetician 12,000 gil because while I thought I wanted a new hair color I wasn't happy with how they looked in the field so I finally went back to the hair color that kept me happy for so long.

I used 4 or 5 fantasias to create a character I really loved. I fear what will happen to my wallet if I ever get tired of being a lala. :rolleyes:

I know it's personal preference, but miqo'te look SOOOOOOOOOO good with dark skin, yours included (even though you dislike it xD). <3

My elezen/elvaan in FFXI was named Gaddes, and I wanted my character in FFXIV to be the continuation of that character, so I made sure to try and make him as close to the FFXI version as possible, which meant choosing the closest ponytail and making him a tan duskwight to match the XI skintone. I also gave him the Ronfaure surname to honor his roots. (I gave him a scar to mark the harrowing journey from Vana'diel to Eorzea)

Unfortunately, my XI character was a THF main and there wasn't a THF in XIV at the time, so I opted to be a PLD. I figured I was already well-versed in enmity control, so it made sense.
As time went on, I selected slightly longer hairstyles to indicate his growth away from the old XI ponytail, until I ended on the luxurious male long-haired hairstyle that I use today:

Ahem, it doesn't mean I hate Miqo'te. I wrongly put race to Moonseeker because of INT/MND type and I put the dark color because of the purple skin lol. Also, it's because I see first time there's Hyur with bulky muscle and I feel like... WHY THIS CATBOY DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MUSCLE?!

So, I change to Highlander for... muscle.

I mean personally I'm not a fan of big muscles but...yeah... catboys don't have it. :(

People think my character is a Seeker all the time because of the dark skin but no... Keeper all the way.

Actually, I see a lot more dark-skinned Keepers than Seekers, but not with your colors. It's always cold colors, dark-grey, dark-blueish, and the like.
Warm dark-brown and golden eyes is definitely more of a Seekers thing :)

And probably one of the biggest changes of all was my character marrying my boyfriend's character, and going from Selli Esylenna to Selli Noblus. (Why we didn't do that originally when we've been together for 4 years, I will never understand! >.<)
