Honestly, the lack of unisex options is rather terrible. I've been asking for more unisex hair for the better part of a year, but the same can be said of clothing options, too. Can't really use Blade and Soul as an example of Japanese tastes, it's a South Korean game and they're substantially more invested in MMOs than Japan has ever been. It makes sense for games there to be more open-minded given how much they practically live in MMOs. "But the Japanese release~" of a South Korean game is still going to look like a South Korean game.
I don't want Korean MMO style fanservice outfits; I don't particularly want bunny outfits for men because I don't want them on the women in the game either.
HOWEVER, bunny ears are so easy and relatively harmless in terms of design that I can't see any reason why they don't have them for male characters. It's silly. (Though male characters can wear succubus horns, last I looked, and the name itself implies that they shouldn't, so...)
Let's face it. If S-E did give the bunny outfit for male characters, they would have a coatee instead of a bustier and slacks instead of fishnet tights. That's just how they do things.
GW2 had Bunny Ears on the Gem Store for a while before it was cycled out. Here's a male Norn with it.

Many more pics of fashion from the game here.
I'm all for unisex and equal options for players; if they make one set, make it either unisex or have a corresponding set made for each gender.
Eh. No. Now drop this stupid subject. There are more players that do NOT want this to happen then there are that do. As always, the bigger group will win. If you want this crap then this game is not for you.
Off topic: Outfits in most Korean MMOs are highly sexualized, in my experience. And you're not alone, I hate it as well. I greatly enjoy the fact that the majority of outfits in FFXIV are not that way.
On topic: I agree with the people saying it's ridiculous that men can't have bunny ears or more feminine options. I don't plan to use that stuff myself, but why should other people who want to use it be denied when female characters basically get everything? And no, "because waifu" isn't a good reason.
95% B&S gear looks like p**n stuff, seriously.
Shoot. I want this outfit for my character. xD
Please provide documentary evidence that there are more FFXIV players who actively don't want male characters to have access to the same glamour options as female characters. I can guarantee that most players don't actually care, while the people who are firmly against the idea of players with male characters having fun are nothing more than a vocal minority. Amongst players with male characters, a number of those who don't specifically want bunny ears would still prefer to have equal numbers of options compared with female characters. Why would so many people actively want less?
I refuse to believe that a majority of players of this fun, inclusive game would be deeply against everyone having equal access to glamour. I also refuse to believe that the 'bigger group' should always win when their position is so unfair and pointless. No.
This is the shittiest and most oppressive argument for anything I've ever seen. "There's more of us than there are of you so you'll never get what you want, nyeh nyeh."
Besides, this thread is about BUNNY EARS. What is so horrifically offensive about a man wearing bunny ears? I wore cat ears on Halloween and people weren't fleeing from me in terror. Why are you so against something so basic?
Still want.....*sigh* still want....
Simple little accessories honestly should be able to be equipped by anybody, but I would rather that SE work on new raids, classes, gear, and content then go back and change every single piece of gender-locked equipment to fit for every single race. You guys already saw how big of a gap there was between 3.0 and 3.1
I just really don't understand the people who are against this, I never will. Do you have any logic behind your blind discrimination? You have no problem with my fluffy cat ears? What is that logic?
What in the world about bunny ears is female? They are EARS from an ANIMAL. Would dog ears be female? Would horse ears be female? Are human ears female or male? If SE added Viera would you all be shouting to the heavens saying NO NO NO NO BUNNY MALE LOOK OUT HE HAS RABBIT EARS INSTEAD OF CAT EARS, HOLD THE PHONE, HOLD THE PHONE.
Look out guys. If you like this official concept art for XIV of males with bunny ears, this is not the game for you.

If you think that many people support it, why don't you start an actual thread about gender discrimination on equipment instead of turning what was a conversation about a simple head accessory into a flame war. I have yet to see our characters in cut scenes do more then stand around like a loaf of bread so I can only assume they have more important things to do. Like raids, classes, gear, and content.
This topic has been brought up countless times, many people asking for more "female" outfits on male characters, more people wanting unisex options, people wanting bunny ears. People clearly support it, there's several threads you can go read if you want. The issue is that Square Enix is ignoring people's wishes. Not to mention, the art team isn't the combat team. They had time to do Lord of Verminion and all that, why not take the time to make bunny ears and other outfits unisex?
Their glamour options don't discriminate against you, Vivi and this is the place to talk about it. When people wanted equal rights for Eternal Bonding, they made themselves vocal on the forums to let people of any race/gender bond.
No, sorry, it is discrimination. You think females should have it just because they are females and men shouldn't have it just because they are men. You think because a man is shaped differently he shouldn't be allowed to wear something that you can wear because you are shaped differently than he is. And that, my friend, is discrimination. You can have your opinion and nobody told you that you couldn't, but your opinion is a discriminatory one.
If you are disagreeing with equal treatment for both genders, you are gender discriminating. You don't seem to get it. If I say you can't have something just because you're female, I am discriminating based on your gender and that is WRONG. You should be allowed to have everything men can have because the only difference between us is our gender, and it goes both ways.

We did. Go check it out: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...department-yay
There's also some more background here if you don't want to root around looking for everything in different threads.
I'm actually confused about why you think that the people supporting male bunny ears are the one turning this thread into a flame war, when the point of this thread is explained right there in the first post ;)
With all due respect, I think there's another angle to this. If the topic was "Can we all have dyeable succubus horns?" or "Can female characters have bear ears?" then saying you don't agree is simply giving your opinion; the reasons for it don't matter. I respect that, maybe you really hate bear ears or something.
But if the topic is "Can people who aren't you have the same things you already have?" and you come in to say you disagree, then say you can't give the reason because that would reveal discriminatory intentions, it sounds an awful lot as though you're discriminating. It literally doesn't affect your character in any way; so long as you stay female you never have to risk logging on to the game drunk one day and accidentally equipping some bunny ears. So why do you get to tell people with male characters that they shouldn't have that option at all?
The weirdest part is that female PCs can wear the false mustache, and soon the beard from the upcoming Christmas event but males can't wear bunny ears. Beards are fine on female characters, but bunny ears on males is crossing the line?
I just don't understand what there could possibly be that you wouldn't want to support.
Male rabbits have ears. It's simply stupid to not allow a headpiece with rabbit ears not to be used by male characters. It's literally a case of "No you don't get this just because."
Even looking at the opening post, all I am seeing is a want for bunny ears. In the end what SE decides to do does not bother me as long as it does not interfere with production of content that myself and many others want. if I am in an instance with a guy in a tutu as long as they can do their job, and it is a new instance, I don't care.
EDIT: I really think that simple accessories should be changed (spring hat, bunny ears, etc). Would be a simple matter of removing the gender lock.
That Lalafell bunny-boy is too cute :)
I'd still disagree with you (as my history of debating with my fellow men shows), and if it was just a temporary switch then of course you'd still have no personal investment in the problem. However, if you were personally invested in the topic rather than just telling us we can't have something you already can, then it would be considerably less, uh, mean-sounding.
To be clear, I understand why some people don't personally like the aesthetic of guys wearing cute outfits (I think they're insane, but it's their opinion). What I don't understand is why that often crosses over into (effectively) telling other people how they can and can't dress, and even supporting a situation where female characters have a sizeable number of extra equippables over males. Would the 'anti bunny ear' faction prefer it if males had a different type of 'fan service' equivalent to the bunny outfit instead? Obviously that would subsequently upset players with female characters, so it's a delicate situation.
Well you just keep leaving when people already angry with your argument. At least give some responsibility after what you say, not deleting your post again like on other thread. :p
Besides, CAN YOU GUYS who DISAGREE with this GIVE some LOGICAL REASON why this should not implemented?! How funny you just come here and say "Nay" or "Ew we're dude not gal, go fantasia if you want bunny."
Well there is no way that "I don't want that people get stuff that I already can have" is something else than acting rude.
No, folks this isn't 'your opinion'. This is just rude and enjoying your high horse. Nothing else.
Anyway. I am totally into BJD stuff and I myself own a male doll that has bunny ears by default. This isn't mine but the same doll (company pic) and another, smaler ones with floppy bunny ears too ... boy and girl both have ears ...I know ... GROSS ...
I just want cute bun-bun ears for my dumb male Miqo butt
Is this such a hard request???? I just...want to be cute...
EDIT
Oh boy I did not see this post
SQUEENIX get on this, I need this in my life /fansself
I DO WANT THIS FOR HIGHLANDER *cries* *using Heavy Darklight Armor "for bunny ears" again :( *
If you can add bunny ears on this picture, I'm gonna keep it forever :p
