...okay, I'm afraid thats a problem of definition xD and I admit that my definition might be a bit off but as a person who has always been wearing there own hair quite long (~80cm) everthing thats below shoulder-length is counting as "rather short" for me. So whats bothering me is that there are a lot of female styles like the two we're just seeing - bit longer, not ponytail or something like that and not as ridicoulous as the hippie-hairstyle we got for males...

I think a blew quite a bit of gil and time doing that while leveling to 60, probably best not to unless they decide to change the horrible glamour system. @_@

Now that the angle isn't odd and the picture quality is less grainy, I'm much more satisfied with how the male contest winner came out. Will still need to see how it highlights, but definitely happier with it now than I initially was when someone showed that one image from the Live Letter (or wherever it came from). Goes to show not all angles are flattering!

The blog does not say anything about gender. I would be willing to bet they are uni-sexed except for the contest winners.

Since when did short and long hair become a white thing? I wasn't aware that other races didn't wear similar hairstyles (probably because they do).

You mean a hairstyle common (though not exclusive) to people of African descent, since outside of that specific genetic population, there isn't really a measurable difference in how 'white' or 'non-white' hair styles.

To be fair, most Caucasian decended people can't pull off the afro because the hair just isn't curly enough to hold the shape.

I will say though that rocked both cornrows and dreadlocks as a scrawny white girl in high school.

for anyone coming from ffxi, i wish they would add HQ versions of the elvaan male hair styles, they had a clean long hair look, shaggy or rugged long hair and my favorite the long ponytail. i would some of those added

In his defense, there's no real diversity in the male hairstyles. They're all short with variances on length and dimension. I personally like the first one, I may change to it. And of course the fro ;)

To me, considering how SE announced they were adding this quite a while back, it wasn't like they didn't have plenty of time to at least make a better effort. I mean, it's not like they don't already have a good reference within their own mainline series to go with.

I'm glad at least there's finally a new short hairstyle for females. :/ Was getting annoyed with all the long styles because I really hate how long hair looks in this game - stiff as a board and hovering oddly over the shoulders.

I could have misinterpreted your post, but does it not imply that these hairstyles are originally "white hairstyles"? That's entirely incorrect considering that other races not only wear these hairstyles, but their stylists also create a fair share of them. The developers being Japanese and all.

It's weird and frustrating and something I've seen in lots of eastern games. They have this weird fetish for the "afro" style but put barely any work into creating it - or don't actually understand what afro-styled hair looks like. It ends up looking like they shoved a cotton ball wig on top of someone's head. It's pretty awful.

I know I'm in a minority here but I'm really happy to get 3 decent looking short hairstyles that aren't ridiculously ridiculous for once.

The Female contest winner style ain't gonna look good on my character...

Its just that everytime I see the long female-only hairstyles I'd wished men would be able to get them too! And as I already said aswell, the other way round too ofc. I just dont understand why men are mostly(!) getting short hair-options while women are having all that long hair just for themselves!

(...and please dont count the hippie-style >.< I would need to equip a hairbrush for that and currently I havent found that item yet...)
