The screen shot is from the story preview rather than the Void Ark preview and you'll note the character has the same Aetheric goggles that the scions all wear.

Celi smells bad.
Like others have said, the Lalafell is shown for the Main Scenario preview, not the Void Ark preview. If anyone will be our guide through the Void Ark, I'd be guessing it's Cait Sith.
They're being shown quite prominently with Void Ark at this point, I particularly like this artwork for Void Ark;
I don't know... Looking at a larger version of the picture, I can see some fairly prominent eye lashes, on her right eye, at least.

Open picture in new tab for largeness...
The hair also doesn't really resemble the contest winners IMO, not sure SE can implement new hair styles that quickly anyway... I think 3.1s new hair styles, this included, were planned before the contest was even announced...
Those lips also seem far more feminine than masculine...
Minimal? One's a 50-50 part, and the other is a two-thirds part, not to mention the bangs in the illustration cover the forehead and don't have those inward curls at the top. Those are two different hairstyles. They are both light brown, at least.
Slightly more radical possibility? If it's really not possible for a female Lalafell with a unique model to lack tertiary sexual characteristics, nobody ever said FFXIV's Krile was a girl. Or it's Galuf Baldesion himself.
I'm excited to see a Devout, and you can bet that's Krile. She had the Devout hood in a lot of promotional stuff for FFV. I doubt we'll get it as a job though, considering it's just a stronger version of WHM (but maybe the WHM AF3 will have a Devout design ????pls)
It looks like we will get new job for next expansion. Like... second job of Conjurer = Geomancer?
Now that's an interesting possibility, though I think the similarities to Kriles WHM sprite would rule it out... Wonder how long Galuf would last if he does show up, though... Checking the Castrum Centri escape cutscene, a grandfather was mentioned, so Galuf certainly did exist... Whether he survived the incident at the Isle of Val is another matter though...
Pretty sure Krile will be a girl though, I seem to remember Minfilia referring to her as such, at least...
I'll grant the Hraesvelgr/Nidhogg mistake, and much appreciate the explanation.
I still remain unconvinced that this midlander is not Meteor, or a dark variant thereof. With the introduction of the Void Ark as well, I'm still standing pretty solidly behind the possibility of parallel worlds.
I wouldn't rule out parallel worlds either but I suspect the Void Ark is very much native. I don't think the Void Ark will have any direct connection to the MSQ. It seems Mhachi.
About Meteor (Derplander...), Ferne wrote :
Derplander is an individual from the same dimension as we. Why would you want parallel dimensions, when there's a more convincing and realistic theory ? As far as we know, there are parallel universes (Shantotto and Lightning's event) but they have almost nothing in common with ours... Ferne was teasing for Meteor being an important character years ago, so That seems more relevant...Quote:
But that still leaves one question—was the party an actual party, or were they merely symbols meant to represent you, the players? Well, you can breathe easy knowing they are both. They all ventured into Eorzea at the same time as you did. They all did similar quests, and lived through similar adventures. They exist as your characters exist (in a virtual world-sort of existence). The fact that you haven’t come across them is probably the same reason you haven’t come across my character, Amanda Hugginkyss (or maybe you have? /wink). They’re just somewhere else. Though, maybe you’ll stumble across their party in the future. Or maybe you won’t. How’s that for committing to an answer?
No, it was not.
There was a fight, were a single member of the group was copied in appearance and got the same mainhand weapon, but he got no spells/abilities/pets. 3/4 of the enemy group was always the same.
Second the fourth Spitewarden (that's what he was called, right?) didn't play a huge role like we suppose the WoD will do. If it's just a copy of you, it's hard to give him a real own past/background, etc.
And most important: If the WoD is a copy of our character... why wasn't there a copy in the Ingame-cutscene on the moon we all saw? This was no promotion/intro cutscene, it was the reality our characters live in.
You know, in intros/promotion cutscenes you can even swap the appearance of characters (like dragons) and is has no effect on the game/lore itself. If something in intro/promotion doesn't make sense (like Hraesvelgr attacking Ishgard), it has no effect on the story/lore.
But ingame it has to.
If we'd had seen an echo vision instead (ingame at the end of 2.5), with a Hraesvelgr-like-looking dragon commanding the dravanian hordes and being evil, they couldn't have make a Niddhog-like-looking dragon being the evil leader of the dravanian hordes in 3.0 without logic/continuity errors or a real, real good ingame explanation.
And with the WoD it is exactly the same.
Changing the appearance of the WoD we all did see makes as much sense as changing the appearance of Alphinaud to a female Rhoegadyn in 3.1, Elidibus to a woman or changing the moon-location to mars.
You can't answer a question like "Why did we saw the derplander speaking with Elidibus after defeating Thordan?" with "Because it was a red herring of the developers."... you have to answer it lorewise, because all we see ingame is in fact the lore of the game. Why should the WoD be in disguise?
Just imagine you go to the INN and rewatch cutscenes. First the one on the moon (WoD = derplander), second the one where you first meet the WoD (WoD = You). Sounds stupid, right?
I suspect the WoD can excel as well at multiple disciplines as the WoL can. It would make sense that he would be our equal.

Oh, hey, look, he's definitely a separate character, as is the Roegadyn Paladin.
How weird that... anyone... might... think that.... before now....

Oh look, Krile is both a female and not styling the contest winners hair!
"I'm terribly, terribly sorry to have kept you all waiting."
Yeah, no shit, Krile.
Shame there is no Sky Pirate Nero in sight :(
Do wonder who the head (?) Sky Pirate is though, or perhaps more importantly, who that portrait is of... XIVs version of Fran, perhaps?
Also it would seem Diabolos isn't a boss? Wonder if that means Void Ark will be a continual story, rather than a one off thing like I'd hoped (because Void Ark (Mhach), Floating City (Nym), and Eorzean Strata (West Shroud, Amdapor) seemed so much more interesting). Also this guy is terrifying... He eats a party member, and they come out the other side... I... No...
Yup, confirmed, Derplander will be our enemy
Also, the next relics are called the Anima weapons. So much for my hopes and dreams. Time for us to take our wacky theories back into hiding until the next patch...
Looks like the Void Ark story will be Aliens: the Raid. We have needed a good, old-fashioned bug hunt story. Just hoping they don't go the obvious route with the guest characters this time...
I wonder how meta they'll get with Derplander as the Warrior of Darkness... "I saved Eorzea, except I didn't because Dalamud still fell, and when I came back everyone made fun of me! All these new players replaced me! The name Derplander stuck! Arrgh!"
I'm guessing lore wise he'll be a Legacy "player", and the Warrior of Darkness plot will be somewhat similar to the whole Edda storyline; Here's how you affected other adventurers, perhaps not for the best.
Well, I can still hold onto Eureka hopefully being the same delightful mix of XIV lore and III lore Crystal Tower was; Where the ultimate weapons are sealed, except it's Allag, so it's where the Ultima Weapons are sealed...
Now that you mention it though... Wasn't Anima the stuff we used to use for teleports? Probably shouldn't put too much thought into their naming, Zodiac weapons were disappointing enough... "Oh I need to slay a demon to make my weapon sentient? Awesome, last minute trial to save this questline!", "Oh never mind, you're going to craft demon blood... Well at least my weapon might end up like Final Fantasy XIs original relics, and actually have some character behind it", "Oh, it's just going to gain a glow? No brief cutscene where my weapon calls me a tool for doing this ridiculous quest? Nothing? Bah"
Hey doesnt not look like Marvel's civil war? present against past ? xD
It was a teleportation currency, yerr.
That said... it's probably just a coincidence. Anima (soul/spirit) weapons do follow up on the idea of relic weapons absorbing SOULS (finish two weapons, offer one immortal soul to the nearest Satanic archetype) and gaining some form of sentience during the Zodiac questline. If there's anything that bugs me, it's that we already have [Relic] Animus in the game, and unless you're into Jungian psychology, Anima and Animus is pretty much the same thing. :p
Incidentally, did anyone else notice that a Rogue went and did a Sneak Attack on our resident pretty boy?
http://i.imgur.com/qEmnD7a.jpg
Crazy Nidhogg minion that really wants the Dragonsong War to continue?
Nobility that really hates the truth behind everyone's ancestry in Ishgard?
But arguably the most important question, will our pretty boy actually perish? :p
A rogue culinarian, no doubt
Ugh, wait a sec. "Anima"? As in, Anima?!
The eternally-tortured soul? Suddenly, I fear for the soul in my Zeta...
Be afraid the WoD going to own us (RIP Ravana)

Actually, we, the WOL, never seem to fight at all in a cut scene. We ready our weapons but we never actually do anything. Either we get incapacitated or an NPC does the fighting for us; the latter is probably easier for the dev team to do since they can write the "script" for the fight and have characters move as they want them too. Since we, the player, can be anything we want, it would take a lot of work for the dev team to make fights look smooth for different jobs, not to mention we'd get a repeat of 2.5 where people cried "I was a healer! I could have saved her!"
To be fair, the Quest Log states Ysayle softened him up for us, so we weren't fighting a full-power Ravana. He's pretty much the sole instance where his EX mode isn't a power-boosted version of his normal self but rather suggested to be Ravana at full power.
We are totes gonna get smacked around by the Warrior(s) of Darkness, though. Time to go unlock more true potential!
I'll just say this: if XIV-Krile is not actually world-displaced, fell-through-the-void-after-beating-NeoExdeath-yeah-we're-retconning-V's-ending-a-bit-here FFV Krile, on some level I'm going to be disappointed. It sure seemed like they were going in that direction with not wanting to reveal her.
But yeah, that lalafell is clearly a girl, and even odds are, she's Krile.
(Of course if this means we get awesome old lala monk Galuf who beats the hell out of an Ascian by himself, I am okay with that.)
I can't believe Aymeric will die !!! Come on he is the best hope of Hishgard ! And more importantly, I saw Yshtola attacked by a roehgen paladin, I'm positive he is paladin ! WHY ????? Nonetheless, I can't wait to pursue the main quest line and benefit from all the little add up stuff in the 3.1. Wayt to go SE !
