Firstly, that example of a bunny mount is terrifying!
Second, not until we male characters can wear bunny ears. This is high priority people..

The only bunny I will accept is from Star Ocean.

Like..what? I understand being against a giant bunny (because, as cute as I would find it, lorewise it doesn't fit in at all).
But all the other mounts are perfectly fitting with the lore, from Gobbues answering your mating calls to Magitek armor you befriended and repainted, to, well, chocobos, chocobos en masse.

They made all the other mounts fit into the game, did they not?
I'm sure they can come up with something original to make a cute bunny mount fit in as well.

There is a difference between taking something already existing in this world and finding an explanation why it allows you to ride it, and inserting a mount that belongs to a race that is nowhere to be seen in Eorzea, not even in it's normal form, much less as a giant monster bunny from hell.

I beg to differ. Untill Heavensward there were no creatures such as the "Griffin" and "Midgardsormr"for example. They made these two fit in as well.

I don't see the problem to be honest. You may not like it, I can understand that. But as I said earlier, I don't think that SE would have any issues with coming up with something.

Considering dragons are a staple of the fantasy genre at this point, and Midgardsormr being part of it at the beginning, it was a rather bad example. Not sure about the Griffin, I don't really believe it fits in all too well.

Also, Griffins are wild monsters roaming the lands in this game, too. Taming one isn't all that special if you consider that.
If we get a new area and giant bunnies are happily hopping around there, I have zero to say against a bunny mount. Since there aren't any right now - bunny mounts aren't fitting.

After Heavensward yes, that's exactly what I meant.

This talk about 'mounts that don't belong' reminds me of all the arguing about the unicorn mount that popped up in 2.1(?). XIV has thus far proven to be the not-quite-fanservice Final Fantasy with it's content so declaring 'not in my XIV' is pretty much too late now. If it's been in a Final Fantasy chances are high it's going to be included, or alluded to, at some point. All that said, I don't remember giant rabbits being in any of the games so far so the likelihood isn't very high for a rabbit mount. I could be wrong, but it just doesn't seem likely.

Check the banners hanging outside Little Ala Mhigo. Just because they're not native to the three (four) city-states doesn't mean that they're nowhere to be found in Aldenard (and by extension, all of Hydalen). There is still much of the world left to be "discovered".

Just be careful what you wish for, though. You might yet get your mount-sized lagomorph, but in a way that you never envisioned - or wanted.

Quick googling told me that there were cute bunnies in XII called "Vorpal Bunny" (Picture below)
I wouldn't mind to have these as a mount, I love the way they look, very cute hehehe.

I agree with Gilraen, SE won't have any problems making something up to make a cute bunny mount "fit" into the game if they want to.

Those aren't giant rabbits though.

Why would they have to be, in order to exist? You don't see elephants roaming around in America, but they still exist, just somewhere else in the world, in their native range and habitat. I don't imagine that Gryphons were even common in Ala Mhigo, outside of a subset of the military. I also doubt that most refugees in Ul'dah and Quarrymill would even have had access to one.

Would you have rather SE had waited until the game eventually expanded into Ala Mhigo to introduce them? Or would that still be considered "shoehorning"?

SE has created many new monsters in this game, and we have mounts based on several of them. So along those lines, it's not a huge leap to think that maybe SE could create another mount based off of a creature not currently in the FF universe. If SE really wanted a bunny mount in this game, I'm sure they could somehow make it work within the realms of the FF world.
