Roguelikes don't always have permadeath. For example, Baroque. You just lost all your progress and anything you didn't have stored when you die, and had to start Neuro Tower all over again, but everything was.. different.

WoW new skills = level. No paying trainers. Not for combat skills.
Now stuff like green fire?

you guys remember ff7 gold saucer. there was a mini game that had you fight waves of increasingly difficult badies. this would be easy to implement and tho its not the be all end all its a start. have it reward marks or consumables or titles or whatever.
That's not really a solution though, isn't it?
I mean, if I was having trouble in the bedroom, what would you suggest?
That I only wear a leather cap and nothing el...
That I handicap myself and just tie my arms behind my ba...
What if I just try and perform while wearing a blindfo...
Yeah, you know what? Nevermind. That might work.
I can get behind this because I have no one to blame but myself If I can't beat a instance fight.
i think they need to add more mobs with unique attacks hat you're actually scared to get hit with. I remember always fleeing from tonberrys in ff so I didn't get hit with everyone's grudge same with cactuars and the 10000 needles if they have attacks that you know you have to watch out for I think it would increase the experience of a lot of ppl
I can't help being reminded of the AST job quests (since I'm suffering through that one rn)... go to spot X, talk to A, go to spot Y, talk to A again, go to spot Z, talk to B, cast Aspected Benefic, cast Aspected Benefic, cast Aspected Benefic, go to spot X again, talk to B again - and so on and so on. Yeah..........
Yes, special attacks would be nice. And if it just to give the enemy types more personality.
During 1.x as an examples, the moles went underground to do an surprise attack on you with jumping out of the ground in your face (if you have not go away some steps). Wolfes tried to attack you from behind and antilopes attacked you with their back legs (inclusive pushback effect). Oh, and Chigoes did their stongest attack the moment you did a weapon skill on them.
I was trying to solo Thornmarch Hard as my 60 DRK earlier today, that was rather challenging. I then realised that even when successful trying to get the weapon I wanted wasn't worth the time! So I am all for more challenging solo things. I remember when unsync came out I went straight to trying to solo Dzemael Darkhold as my 50 MNK for some gear to lv my DRK. Having to stop attacking and dodge the lazers on the last boss and relying on potions and basic heal over time during the crystal phases to just get through it was more exciting than most things. If we are going to have more challenging solo events at least provide a worthwhile reward.
Yeah, but what if your progress would be saved? So you could always continue where you left. The whole thing would be your personal project. Could start as early as Lv 30, have interesting bosses that have abilities that need to be countered by the abilities of your job. Little campaigns like find some hidden artifacts or treasures, could pick those up at some NPC in the open world. Quests for outside could start there as well, which then grant you a save at that spot where you got it inside, so you can attempt the same stuff multiple times in case you don't quite make it to the next checkpoint yet. Etc etc.
