Long vacation is long.
Because people don't want to. As simple as that. Especially when others don't have the same mind set as you. Some people only like a specific type and class they want to play. This includes crafts and gathering. You can't expect everyone to want to jump on every single job. If someone doesn't like to heal, why would they spend so much time to lvl a healer? Or tank, or dps... Just cause it's there doesn't mean people have to do it...
For sure, i hope they are having a good vacation time !
I'm still discovering FFXIV and it has become one of my favorite game already. Everyone needs a break, sometimes.
But then they can't rightly complain their isn't any content available. The game is designed with diversifying in mind. People who only wish to level a few classes have to accept their preference is not what FFXIV will cater towards, and therefore, they may feel there isn't enough content. Put simply, the game cannot possibly appease everyone. So far, one of the primary selling features is being able to level multiple classes with relative ease. They have little reason not to focus on that.
One can absolutely offer a suggestion to the devs (as they've told us in live letters, please post suggestions on the forums) that the game feels lacking in pve and other areas so they can improve it if needs be.
And the devs prefer complaints anyway, see said image:

So, to whoever it was saying "U ONLY COMPLAIN ABOUT GAEM" to me in this thread, even the devs encourage it, "the silent leave first" and it's true, my friends don't care to post, and unsub quietly.
Anyway, they (the devs) said so themselves that they are dropping a dungeon per patch to add in new and never before seen content due to them being aware that certain areas are lacking and that is great that they realized that and are attempting to address the issue. :) Complaining is pointless yes, but offering suggestions which they ask us to can be very helpful. I look forward to the November patch, we will finally get more original content!!
Sucking up is usually seen as negative (NOT saying anyone who posts positive is sucking up, FYI, just a very small handful), people do it to me quite often..and I ignore them. Giving a sincere compliment or words of encouragement is one thing, but swearing that someone can do no harm or wrong and is perfect and then mocking those who do not agree with them (as someone did to me in this very thread) is just as toxic as bullying, IMHO.
Oh and then in turn bashes WoW devs passive aggressively. ^^; (again not you)
Suggestions, sure. But chances are people who only focus on a limited number of classes will never feel there's enough content on the basis they are ignoring a large portion of it. Of course, there is nothing wrong with them doing so, it just means they aren't the audience FFXIV tends to cater to.
Yet people feel they HAVE TO level all jobs as stated above. Then what? Will you use every single job for all the current content? if so, how will you be able to gear them all up to par, with how long it takes to get eso or savage gear? Even then, what will you even use any of that gear for, other than alex savage or just being able to say you got, said gear? The whole arguement over leveling all jobs definitely is something to do, but at the same time people don't want to, because they know they'll only use two or maybe even three different jobs.
Constructive criticism is absolutly fine, what I do have a problem with, is the people who either plainly says there is no content, leveling sucks, FATEs are boring, PVP is broken, Raids is a chore. I hardly ever see those people say exactly WHY they find X Content boring, broken, lacking etc as that just makes them sound to complain just for the sake of complaining
If my customers or boss comes to me and says I sucked at my job, without telling me exactly what I did wrong, I will never be able to figure out what/how I should improve upon. Does what I say make any sense at all?
Just saying Devs fix this game or I am quitting, will not improve the game whatsoever ;)
Yeah, I agree...just straight up complaining with no suggest is pointless. If someone points out a dislike, then offers a suggestion, that is awesome :D But sometimes though, people do need to just say they simply don't care for something, like remember the atma? I loved Atma...I did it all night and day and it didn't bother me one bit, it was fun for me..but others were coming on these forums saying "IT SUCKS!!" "GET RID OF IT FIX ITTTT" with no suggestion lol in the end they did fix it (I think?) or gave players what they asked for, but sometimes the complaints can still help...just all depends on situation ><
Leveling: it's a mandatory part of the game in order to reach end game content, but people do not care to level every single thing cause of what I said prior to this post.
FATES: although a great way to level, gets dull and boring. Not to mention that it gives very little to offer people to actually learn their job.
PVP: not generally a thing SE does and not much experience with it. In the end turns into a mess due lack of team work, in most cases.
Raids: you already said it. Feels like a chore. Not to mention the frustration it brings when you try to clear and obtain gear. Unless you are part of those top 1% FCs, most ppl will have a decent amount of the raid gear, by the time they're replaced in the next patch.
Not to mention roulette. Sign in, do roulette wait til reset and repeat. A lot of ppl do this daily and log off after, unless something else comes up in game that they might want to do, which isn't often.
People have made suggestions in numerous posts, but you seem to only pay attention to the negative things and feed off that to insult them or say they annoy you or you hate those kinds of posts, which in the and only brings up more negativity.
Well if you want an answer as to why I find leveling is boring, it's because it's just mindless repetition. I'm doing content that isn't challenging while having a 4-5 ability rotation early on, every piece of leveling content is exactly that. FATEs provide no challenge and again, I'm clicking a few buttons over and over, either listening to that same music for hours on end or a podcast in the background. Sure, a shiny new level 60 class at the end might be worth it, but I just absolutely do not want to make tedious grind in order to achieve. Furthermore, I'm not actually progressing a class that I want to play. If they awarded some Esoterics while leveling I'd be all over it, but as it stands now it has no effect on my main.
I could sit through the relic grind in which I could have leveled 3+ classes to 50 because my character was actually getting more powerful with each upgrade, unlike leveling other classes. I've always been a one class kinda person, even back in WoW I only had 2 max leveled characters and that due to my frustrations with Retribution Paladin's "rotation", I just hated having to keep up whatever that ability was every minute, but it turns out I landed on Ninja which has the exact same mechanic, but I don't dislike it as much for whatever reason (the extender with Heavensward certainly helps). Simply put, I don't want to invest 30+ hours of my free time on something I don't find enjoyable. Even doing Alwaysreap for the 40th time is more enjoyable to me than leveling because I'm clicking more than a few buttons. The leveling process is also not new content, the class is, but having to go through FATEs or dungeons is something I just don't enjoy and while FFXIV does have the whole armoury system, it's not very alt-class friendly due to lockouts and the lack of quests if you prefer leveling with those.
How can they fix that? Don't know, I suggested adding Esoterics to the leveling process somehow but I have a feeling many would be against that. It does add variety to things other than Neverreap and Fractal though. I'm not really sure if I answered your question (I know it wasn't a question really), but there you go. :p
Finally someone who actually appreciates! People these days just complain about everything and nothing at the same time.
ie
Why do you keep making the same apple juice all the time? *changes to orange* OMG WTF, THIS ISN'T WHAT APPLE JUICE USE TO BE, YOU BETRAYED ME! *takes it away* -insert random comment here- *brings apple juice back* Apple juice again? Why do you ke-
Well you get the point.
EDIT;
Change apple juice to Final Fantasy lol
We all knew that already, thanks. I understand that for some people it's impossible to believe that some other people ACTUALLY LIKE the game they PAY A MONTHLY FEE to pay. We aren't ALL masochists. Not everybody likes Shades of Grey, I tend to prefer full Technicolor. Amazing, isn't it? :P
And there are people that love this game, yet dislike the direction it's going. There's so much more this game could become and could have been with the expansion release. Some people want to make it worth their money so they speak out, which is something yoshida actually embraces.
You would think if someone genuinely cared about the devs and their vacation they would've at least used their comprehension skills to understand that their vacation has been over now.
Not saying their vacation isnt well deserved but you cant just be allowed to run around and spew ignorance.
