Wow we are really clutching at straws aren't we :P
To be fair, people have been clutching at straws since the ending of 3.0 because there isn't much to speculate on besides Thordan's last vision and the Warrior of Darkness...
... apropos of nothing, I went back beyond the fourth wall and if you talk to Yoshi-P again he suggests they want to put Samurai and Red Mage in 4.0...
PLEASE LOOK FORWARD TO IT™
I don't know, I think there is a bit. There are certainly a lot of plot threads in motion.
- Nature of the Gnath Onemind.
- Direction the Dragonsong war will take and how the current surviving Celestial Dragons might play a part.
- The apparent changes hinted at in Eorzea's militaries as hinted at in various Job quest lines.
- The obvious Eikon vs Primal definitions.
- Truth behind the origins of the Bismarck myth and how it is shared by two very different cultures in two very different places.
- Fate of the missing Scions.
- The potential impact of the empire's incursion into Azys lla. What the empire might get their hands on.
- Implications of the legends involving the Moogle histories. Ever consider what effect a massive floating landmass would have on the lands below?
- Estenien's fate and how we might save him/what impact Estinien being in there might have on Nidhogg.
- Why there are what looks like Allagan structures in the Aery.
- Frankly the rather odd nature of Draconic physiology. Apart from the simple number of variations we have on dragons (though some seem to be hinted at being the results of Allag experiments) just draconic essense is enough to turn people into dragons. Its almost like the Aetheric poisoning we see in Sastasha HM. Clearly they aren't simply big lizards.
- The fact there are multiple Crystals of Light and what that might imply.
I'm sure there are more.
Still, I admit I can't guess exactly where things will go from here. That's as much because there is so much on the table rather than there not being enough.
All true, but most are minutiae that don't directly affect the story moving forward; or, we don't have much information to base theories on.
The most pressing issues (as I see them) are
1. What is Nidhogg going to do now?
1a. Can we save Estinien?
and
2. What's up with the Warrior of Darkness?
The rest aren't too important, or there's not enough information to form a theory. Darksteel Foil Hats on, folks! (Also, I believe the 14 Hour Anniversary Broadcast cleared up that eikons and Primals are the same thing, despite what Unukalhai said. Perhaps the Warring Triad are simply Elder Primals like Odin?)
Is there different dialog for legacy players?
Kazutoyo Maehiro: Aeka, it's you! I'm Maehiro, the main scenario writer. I'd been hoping to meet you since before the Calamity!
Sorry I've been lurking in the forum for a while now and haven't made a post. I figured nows a good a time as any!
I sat in the 18th floor for a while, looking at the non-targetable npcs to see what they say. Among other things I believe the bomb and behemoth is the red herring. I followed the little magicked broom around the area and figured out it only has 2 lines. The first reads: 'Emit PND-ammo ct xet.' Which is 'Text Command ptime.' FLIPPED.
The other line it says is 'Flipp'er over, flip flip!' Now I'm not sure if it's a line talking about its apparent gibberish line that you need to flip. But I figured I'd put it out there! With all of the ff6 references out there though, it made me wonder if it was talking about Suplex, (a move Sabin uses that flips the enemy upside down) and a 'certain' boss where Suplex is the main strategy.
In short, I think it's doomtrain.
It's not exactly a spoiler, but I was interested in the conversation with Koji Fox, which seems a rather direct tie to a pretty important issue...
Of course, I'm sure he's also just toying with us...Quote:

Doomtrain will be the hildibrand trial, i am curious how Godbert will suplex it.
Knights of the 12 will be the ex trial, just don't know if it will be a ministrell ballad or a story continuation involving Ascalon (the sword left behind), maybe taking control over someone else (imperials ?) like zantetsuken. In azys lla there should be lots of methods to power it up even without the eye.
I know they may not exactly contain spoilers, but I took the efforts to take pictures of all the posters around the walls on the 18th Floor. Some of them have writings on it in Eorzean. However, some of us may know that Eorzen "alphabets" are based on English and therefore can be translated directly into English or vice versa. Unfortunately, my Eorzean is rusty, can someone who is more fluent translate them, please?

If Nanamo is actually half as cool, regal and authoritative as portrayed, then Ul'Dah would not be so terrible. God, I detest spineless monarchs...

Thoughts?
Fig 1 is for the girl's day event. The lala is holding a Princess Edvia (sp?) doll. Who was probably a lala adopted by the human Thorne family.
Fig 2 says Valentionne, which is House Valentionne in Ishgard for the Valentine's day event
1. Little Ladies' Day promo. Wind-Up Edyva minion shown.
2. "Valentione <3" signed "Lisette", the NPC in charge of the event.
5. "The Continental Circus" "All Saint's Wake"
7. "Come One!" "Come All!" "Manderville Gold Saucer"
"Where every dream is / made of gold and everyone / leaves a winner"
8. "The Starlight Celebration"
Most of these are just seasonal event artwork.
Fig. 1 is artwork for Little Ladies' Day, and the thing in the Lalafell's arms is a Wind-Up Edvya, a minion that (unfortunately) is now Cash Shop only.
Fig. 2 translates to "Valentoine," and is artwork for Valentoine's (Valentines') Day.
Fig. 3 is artwork for Hatching-tide (Easter).
Fig. 4 is artwork of the Crystal Tower bosses.
Fig. 5 translates to "All Saints' Wake,"and is artwork for the corresponding holiday (Halloween).
Fig. 7 is an advertisement for the Manderville Gold Saucer, which is what the main block of text translates to.
Fig. 8 translates to "The Starlight Celebration," and is artwork for the corresponding holiday (Christmas).
Fig. 10 is artwork for Patch 2.2, "Through the Maelstrom."
Fig. 11 is artwork of the Final Coil of Bahamut.
The right poster in Fig. 9 is the only one I couldn't recognize when I did the event last night. Anyone remember which event it was for?
I'm pretty sure Fig. 9 was used to announce the addition of Free Company housing.
The left poster in Fig. 9 is Nael van Darnus and Bahamut, the right one was for Free Company Housing, I believe.
the one with 2 little guys wearing red might be red mages
Thinking back wasn't the moon/Dalamud part of the old 1.0 storyline that had to get scrapped with the old game design? It'd be odd for them to revisit that idea, unless its an instanced outer space battle field like the Empyreal Paradox in FFXI.
Could be worse, it could be Hildabrand that tries to stop it by out running it before he gets ran over (like in FF6). I'm thinking it may be more of an area mechanic, or a minion prize like the chicken was from Battle at the big keep.
I've been able to recognize all the artwork except for that one poster. Seems like I wasn't the only one to take pictures of them. If only I can gif that guy on the horse.
Everyone seems to be overlooking the biggest twist of them all. Yoshi-P can speak impeccable English without the help of a translator (and probably more but I only played through with one language). Why on Earth does he bring translators around with him? What secrets does he hide?
Perhaps a translator was hiding in the scenery and throwing his/her voice during the cutscenes? Maybe the translators had done something bad and Yoshi-P decided that he would deny them a cameo? What a strange man.
That's because he's not speaking English, he's speaking the common tongue of Hydaelyn (I'd call it Eorzean except people new to Eorzea already know it) which through the magic of the client software is translated to the language of your choice. The fact that the common tongue is English with different letter shapes is beside the point.
Yeah, the Echo explains that away perfectly. You understand Sylphic, Amaljic, Dravanian, Ascian-language all the same as you can understand Japanese perfectly.
You know what I found interesting out of the whole thing (I don't know if anyone else mentioned this), but the four characters we interacted with before going to the floor were the models they used for Sokken, Ferne and two of the others.
It took me running through the quest three times to fully realize that and I heard the lala that gives the quest is Yoshida's actual character
One of the characters mentions a "silver" artwork from the collector's edition. Now, the only silver/grey artwork I can see are Midgardsormr (unlikely) or the complete statue of Halone (?) on page 44.
What better a primal than Halone summoned as a response to her people in a time of uncertainty since the Holy Seal fled & everything they believe in turmoil?
I doubt doomtrain is the next primal. This is a trial i would expect in a hildebrand related trial. most people remember/care about the train because you could suplex it. Something godbert could do
Doomtrain!!!
My monk is totally ready to tombstone piledrive a train
I remember there were two people to your right when you first enter the Eighteenth Floor. I don't remember the exact dialogue but it went on the lines of:
Guy 1: "What color comes after Black and White? Red!"
Guy 2: "Red?! Don't you mean Blue?"
Clear relation to having Black Mage and White Mage, the next caster could be Red/Blue Mage.
Blue mage would be awesome cause they learn abilities from mobs. Imagine using chief's knife or goblin punch
red mage would be a pretty cool crowd control
If you went back and talked to him after the quest, Yoshi-P actually said that the team is trying to get Samuai and Red Mage into 4.0, so I'm leaning towards those. Anything else is fair game.
It does really feel like he wants to go with Samurai and Red Mage or Blue Mage...sounds good to me. I really don't want Doomtrain to be turned into Gilgamesh fodder and made into a joke, my hope is that they do Doomtrain good and make it really bad ass and a worthy fight.
