Do duty roulette high level
I wanted to let you know that we're planning to ease up on some of the Zodiac weapon-related quests in Patch 3.1.
Just finished the light phase by grinding trials when they were on bonus. Took me about 2 to 3 weeks just on that phase, but I made some friends light grinding too which was really nice. I hope I can finish the whole thing before 3.1 comes out. It's definitely keeping me busy though!
If Im not mistaken currently its 500 FATEs or 125 Trials to complete it... you might want to stick to your 100 points suggestion :/
Let us get lights for Roulettes, even if the dungeon/trial is a HW dungeon.
if u ask a nerf the people who happily grinded this like zombies for multi relics are gona be butt hurt lol
Anyone who has all of the zeta relics is probably numb from the waist down anyway after sitting on their butt forever. And for people like me, who already have a few zetas, this makes it easier to get the ones that I am still missing.
Light farm from 110 to 115 was a nice idea when it was introduced, since you got credit from every type of content. But as a 5-point upgrade, it still takes more time than any other relic phase.
Got 2 Zetas (I know some people got all of them. Goodness) before HW. I couldn't care less if they nerf them even further. They're not even useful anymore. There's no merit on having them either, other than that "little consideration" we'll get with the new relic quest.
And not just lights. The atma upgrade was notorious for how grindy it was when it first came out. It's now a pretty quick and easy upgrade. (I think my average was around 3 or 4 fates per region to get an atma.) For the Animus books, the biggest original complaint involved ridiculous wait times for the needed FATEs to show up, but either I've been surprisingly lucky, or those particular FATEs are happening more often than they used to.
I'm aware, I used it until at least level 55-56, but what's your point? If they're farming light they'll be using the Novus, which is ilvl 110. I suppose I should have worded my post better: "No, I don't want to see people using a weapon that's not an appropriate ilvl for the content they're doing"?
Well, let's look at this. If a good player tries to use an under-leveled weapon and performs poorly, they'll only switch it on for the last boss to get the light. If a bad player tries to use an appropriate level of gear and still performs poorly, we just complain about that person and probably kick them from the group. How is this any different for a player who tries to use their i110 for the entire dungeon? And for the most part, you could get away with using your Novus/Nexus all the way up to Sohm Al and do just fine; there's no reason not to be able to get light from those two dungeons. Any higher, and obviously you'd notice the difference.
The other side to this (and yes, I've got 3 pre-nerf Zodiacs) is that I'd love for any and all nerfs to be had to the current questline, assuming that the "consideration" is given on a per relic-basis. Meaning, that even though I completed every step of the PLD questline within a week or so of each of their releases, the "consideration" would only be counted toward the relevant relic for the job to which it applies. I'd like to be able to have a nerfed road to the remaining zodiacs (mainly for glamor and completion's sake) and get said "consideration" toward their applicable 3.1 questlines. As it stands right now, the difficulty in just getting the dungeon portions completed (nerf, or no) is what's keeping me from working on the others.
Novus just requires alexandrite and materia. The alexandrite maps now give 5 alexandrite each, for what, 100 myth? And since your relic stats aren't important if you're just building it for glamour, so you can rather cheaply fill your relic with only grade 1 and 2 materia of assorted types.
The only thing I could see them making easier is to remove the 80-60% meld chances the grade 1 and 2 materia end up suffering, so you don't burn through as many materia. Maybe make all grade 1 and grade 2 melds 100% chance so you are guaranteed to finish it with exactly 75 materia.
It's not like you need those crit/det melds for spamming light farm, and the ilevel 125 upgrade doesn't even require you to have the weapon equipped while farming. Only my retainer knows that my Zeta bow has spell speed on it.
I'm working on my PLD novus and having been done NIN's post-HW, I would say it takes a LOT less time than pre-HW for my WAR.
That being said, I grinded Central Thanalan fates for solid 3 days or so and *some* Keeper of the Lake. Contrary to 2 weeks on my WAR for pretty much the exact same frequency of instances......... You do the math.
I wouldn't mind another nerf (it's obsolete content anyways). It would make it a lot easier for the rest of the classes. But I'm not complaining about it either.
OMG i did the 3rd relic after HW light farming is a joke, why would they nerf it again. And I did farming on a dps weapon. I just did what i did normally, HL roulette was done with my relic, and if it gave 48 lights I run that dungeon few times, aside that I farmed my relic as i did the 2 i did pre-hw, primals hard mode all the way :) My only problem was that lot of times there were no bonus windows at all when I could play. And even pre-hw I didn't farm ct, because it took to much time, I jumped in only if it was new born.
Except that not everyone wants it for glamour. (In fact, once I get it I'll probably be glamouring my Zeta to look like something else for most jobs.) The stats are very important, as much so as they've ever been, for everyone who's going to be using the weapon, which is still the strongest level 50 weapon available (well, ok, tied with Dreadwyrm for strongest).
As for how to make it easier, I'd thought of either making spiritbonding itself quicker or else improving the chances that gear conversion will give the more highly desired materia types, but your idea of improving the meld success rate is good too, maybe better than mine.
You shouldn't be running CT for light farm anyhow. Use bonus HM primals. CT wasn't even the fastest way before nerf and it certainly isn't now. You aren't going to really get a lot of sympathy from people here either way. The bulk of them got their Zeta before the nerf when it took wayyyyyyyyyy longer than it does now.
YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We should be able to buy zetas with esos ;)
