Guys, whats your tolerance level?

Some groups you just gotta know how to let go.

When I was leveling AST up, I had a pretty bad group setup for stone vigil as well. It was a DRK tank, and 2 MCH dps, along with me.

The first pull took 10 minutes to down, and i ran out of MP by the end of it. The tank couldn't hold aggro on more than one thing for very long. Every time i'd cast any heal he'd lose aggro on something. I could overlook this if the dps was okay, but it almost felt as if they weren't doing anything. In the large room a short ways from the beginning, we hit a wall, the tank kept pulling too big, and i couldn't keep up with him. His health was going down faster than i could spam Benefic 2, not to mention that the dps and I were also taking damage due to his inability to keep aggro for more than 2 seconds.

I can't help but feel i could have done more for that group if i were any other healing job than AST. Either way, i politely explained why i could not stay in that group, and bailed.

My tolerance level is....I don't care. I like seeing new people join the game. XD Helps keep the game alive XD.

But yeah np with new players. I'l just kinda shrug my shoulders, explain the mechanics, and make most with what job I play (which is mostly healers btw).

1) When I play tank, I have way less tolerance.
2) When I play healer, my tolerance reaches its max level. Which is a lot.
3) When I play DPS, I just pew-pew things and YOLO all the things.

Yeah, how stupid to expect a tank to actually act like he's part of a group and not just a self-important tool, huh? Please learn how capitalization works, also.

My tolerance of people who don't play their jobs optimally is pretty much non-existent. When they counteract with "I can play this game however I want!" I try my very best not to lose it. Now, I will have some leniency with people who under perform in casual content like dungeons, but if you're wasting people's time in raid content oh my lord oh my GOD holy SHIT.

Well, I never!...

I used to have a high tolerance for new people. Then when world of darkness became a game of how many times can you wipe within one boss, it quickly declined. Just today for instance a ninja decided we should take a conversation to whisper....in a dungeon....when the conversation was about the tank learning flash to help him keep aggro. The monk in my party kept pulling aggro because the tank couldn't hold it. It was awful. The worst part is the ninja who got snappy with us and told us to stroke ourselves elsewhere doesn't even have whm to 50, but has conjurer? It's been a long day..

My tolerance as a player is very high when it comes to player mistakes. I'm easily forgivable on that, as we are human. But I wont tolerate insults and such.

That can happen if a tank isn't rotating their aggro combos between each mob(can also happen if the rest is vastly overgeared but it's also easy to get aggro back).. You really can't stand there an attack one mob the whole time, and expect the mobs to not eventually aggro the healer or the DPS that maybe attacking it. So yeah, if you spot a tank tunnel visioning on one mob, you're in for a rough ride.

I'm kinda new player, 3 weeks in now that i have had time to play. Just got into Heavensward. As a healer i keep regen always up on bosses, its my first spell i cast or aero 1.

Overall my tolerance level is very very high. My longest raid times have been from 4 to 6 hours in single boss, Age of Conan MMORPG. As long as people try i can go pretty much forever as long as i see improvement.

Here in 15-50/HM dungeons

What i don't tolerate at all is other healers (if i tank/dps) who refuse to dps while clearing adds or when tank does not need healing at certain points. They just stand there without doing anything. Even if you tell them that we could do runs much faster if they would dps while healing is not needed. Most of them refuse to listen, because they probably would ruin their TV watching focus?
Bad thing is that most of them are clearly geared veterans :D. This is clearly slacking.

Ehhhh... It depends on the day I am having. I'm all for helping new players and I do take the time out to teach things and what not, but sometimes bad days get in the way or something just rubs you the wrong way where you know that you have to leave or it will get ugly quickly.

I've left more this month (Twice) then I have in the past ... 1 of them I was called names and the other was an SV where the DPS just ran up as soon as the bubble dropped and aggro'ed all three mobs and died ... (I really really was in a foul mood and shouldn't have queue'd so I left because I knew that if I stayed I would have raged hard and I didn't want to do that.)

Mine's pretty much this, entirely.

Pretty much for me it depends on a few things:
1. Does the one(s) making mistakes listen at all?
2. If not, and, usually when I'm healer, can I carry through the mistakes? (although even then im usually cursing them out under my breath irl)
3. What is their attitude?

These are the most important factors to my tolerance level with other players in this game, with #2 mostly just being for whether i think continuing the run would be worth it at all or not.

If they refuse to learn, then I leave and they can go shit up someone else's run.

tolerance level? it is kinda high on low level dungeons i don't expect player know there class well.
But if ur 50 or 60 and is a healer cast regen while pulling mob make me mad.
Then i start wonder how did that guy got 50... Fate nonstop or just haveing no clue what they do.

I have high tolerance. Always, even if i screamed in my head, in the game i try to give some advice when i can.
But the limit of my tolerance downed to zero the other day in Alexander 2.

This was in DF and there was 2 new people (DPS only). Ok, no problem, i explained in english (which is not my native language, french here) , try to motivate the group (emotes and some encouraging speech) ...

Easy turn for DPS... except when there is THIS guy, you know, the guy who ragequit after one wipe, and if he didn't leave, he undermines all the works that party made.
But the worse, was when he started to bash french people, that was our fault etc ... and especially me (just because I was the one who spoke the most i guess).

As a good, kind and patient player, I just hate that and i reported him.

Aslong as new players show a willingness to learn i'll normally stay till it's done, if not well goodluck getting another tank.

My tolerance is 2. Two tries. I don't have that much time for playing lately, with people that just doesn't bother explaining, call me elitist but at the 2nd wipe I ragequit. (Trial roulette, dragon's neck and Chrysalis way too much... Luckily Steps of Faith is so nerfed I can just faceroll-DPS the things. )

Whenever I see a new player message, I take my bothering of telling them strat. If we wipe once. I take it as normal and tell them where the failure was and what happened, if we wipe 2, It's a lost cause and I just refuse myself to keep loosing time.

Honestly, wiping 15 times in the second boss of Aurum Vale and those things are not my way to enjoy FFXIV, sorry.

So I decided to roll with my BRD with my husband who usually rolls as a dps. So we que up for Stone Vigil and we got a Drk and a SCH.

Scholar was prioritizing dpsing but not healing as the tank is always almost dead and my husband aggro off the tank.

He stood in front of the healer waiting for his heals but instead he let him die. >.>

Tank starts to say run to me if you aggro off (which he did) and the healer said he was too far away to heal (even though he was RIGHT in front of him).

Scholar proceeds to say that Tank>Dps. The tank agrees. This would make sense but the problem with his logic? Underhealing the tank and placing eos on sic (which could have helped with aoe healing)

I told him that as a healer your priority is to make sure everyone is alive, not just the tank.

Tank and healer tag team and called me stupid. Fired back that it isn\\'t our fault you can't keep aggro and you refuse to heal.

We cleared the dungeon somehow and left immediately. Remembered why I rolled as a healer in the first place, my tolerance level for healers that think tanks are our main focus and not the entire group >.<

I mean he placed eos on sic instead of obey and controlling the Eos' heal himself. >.> I mean it's fine for Eos to put on sic(below 50) but micro managing early is much better.

Tolerance level starts high. If someone says they are new, no problem

As long as they keep trying, asking if they don't know something, or whatever, then my tolerance remains high, and i'll help as much as I can

It slowly goes down if they keep making the same mistakes.
And it very rapidly goes down (runs out immediately) if they start being rude, blaming others or talking sh!t

I mean, if the rest of the story is true then yeah that sucks. But that first post is genuinely terrible advice that healers would learn to never heed. :/
Regen on a pull? I guess if you want to scatter everything on you and screw up any clump formation possible.

Spam Cure II? If you want to be out of mp in 30-40 seconds or less, though that accounts for one shroud. If pulls are so overzealous, or so frail that Cure II spam is required the dungeon is already a bust. The Cure II values cited are also completely normal, so I'm not sure why 800s is listed as a demerit. Are you positive you were popping cooldowns? Saying "I had defiance on" is not a cooldown, it means you have the base mitigation of a tank.

Saying you have Defiance on is very close to me saying I had Cleric stance off. Alright, I'm in the right mode. Am I using the correct tools in that mode?

I tolerate and in fact love working with new people. I do not tolerate bad people. This healer was bad. This healer was also new, but that doesn't make up for ignoring things and not trying their best.

My tolerance level is incredibly high. Just 2 days ago I was in a Longstop run that took 80 minutes.
As long as the new players are willing to learn, and don't repeat the same mistakes over and over again, I am willing to stay there, help them, and give tips and strats.
If someone dies the the exact same mechanic 3 times in a row, or just doesn't show any signs of getting better, and is not accepting help, I am voting kick or abandon as soon as I can.

My tolerance can be very high when I first started. But, now? I will not suffer fool gladly. Those willing to learn will learn and those do not will not. I don't mind explaining to new people a hundred times over if it means they'll be one more good player out. I will not help out a overzealous nub who think they can whatever and not think there will be no consequences. That is why I fear to heal or tank in DF..... I'm afraid my tolerance levels are very low.... Twelve persevere me.

I'd say it's actually easier to deal with noobs as a healer. O.o
I have now started playing DPS, and when the tank or the healer are lacking, there is very little you can do. You can just push as much DPS as possible and hope the fights will end before the tank dies or the healer runs out of MP.
As a healer though, if the tank is lacking you can usually still keep everyone alive. And if the DPS is lacking while the tank is fine, you can just add your own DPS.

It sounds like you are very undergeared if the healer is spamming Cure I/II on you while also having Titan Egi hold an add for you isn't enough to survive with. You yourself said you were new to tanking yet you speak like you're an expert on the subject immediately. Maybe both you and the healer were undergeared. Also WHM is never supposed to open with Renew.

My tolerance level is usually exceptionally high. As a Tank you'd think I'd bail the first sign of things going south since there's that whole "Oh, yer a tank, just leave and Insta Queue again" Stereotype.


But I don't.


Things that really push me though:

1: Abusive behavior by players towards other players for no justifiable reason. Cursing, treating them as inferior, for whatever reason, no matter their reasoning, is one of the things that set me off the fastest. This I would say is my number one pet peeve.

2: DPS/Healer who think they are the tank/designated puller.

Seriously. Don't. Just don't. I've had so many scholars/Ninja/Rogue/Black Mage/insert job name here run up leagues ahead and either pull mobs by their mere presence, or intentionally pull and start fighting, then complain when when the mob has torn off half their face and is chewing on their ears like rawhide toys.

I had two ninja's in Amdapor Keep that were absolutely convinced recently that they could pull and tank the dungeon, and they repeatedly rushed ahead and frequently tried to pull hate and DPS. They even did it on the final boss before I could pull him to the corner, you know, away from the party so the tail swipe doesn't nail everyone in the face, and tried to DPS him in the middle of the room.

What's the saying? You can't fix that which doesn't want to be? Yeah...tried to save one of the ninjas from the statue morphing mobs as he ran up leagues ahead of me out of the blue and pulled them. News flash, if you do that, hate is already set on you, making it that much harder for the tank to pull it off as Enmity hasn't been set by the tank yet.

So, yeah. He died. Despite my trying to save him. Big shock.

Seriously. Let the tank pull.

3: Scholars or DPS who refuse to focus on your marked target and actively get into a hate competition with you. Then scream bloody murder when they are getting wailed on and their legs ripped off as a improvised weapon. Which the mob promptly uses to bludgeon them to death with.

Tam Tara Deepcroft is a prime example of this. Oi...Scholars. The insane, jerk ones. You and your Dots. You know the type. Just dotting it up freely and laughing all the while as the tank struggles with it's limited abilities to continue to keep hate despite the multiple bios and heavens knows what else you've stacked on the mob.

Have had so many scholars do that. DPS too, for that matter, who view it as a personal challenge to "Test" the tank, and even outright say they are doing so.

4: Bad healers who regen you up before a pull or other wtf actions and moments that makes you stare as they hit respawn and have to run back, all the while screaming at you that you aren't doing your job.

Those are my basic 4. I'm sure other examples come up...but yeah...

That sounds about like every run I do even with experienced players who think they're "All that" pull entire rooms when clearly there's not a single AoE dps in the group, and yet, they think they're smart enough to pull on their own so they do so anyways (Neverreap is the perfect example).

Though for people who refuse to learn mechanics, even after you've repeatedly explained the mechanics to, I'd give them a couple of shots at it, and if they still refuse afterwards, you're probably just better off either (as much as I hate to say it) abandoning the dungeon, vote abandon, and or vote kick.

I myself have a very low tolerance level now, not for players who are trying to learn mechanics, just the amount of stupidity players have in FF14, it's by far the worst Mmorpg I've played in the sense that players lack even the simplest of common sense out there. Hurts my head sometimes seeing the lack of common sense when I'm tanking, and or healing.

I have a feeling you have never played a MOBA.

I'd like to think I have a high enough tolerance could always be better.

But thing is how do you tell if the person is really trying, doesn't give a crap, or is just trolling. Also some are just jerks but people some times think I'm a jerk too from what I type when it's just me fooling around having fun its had to have people see it that way since you can't tell in type.

but what I will not tolerate is people joining my part finder groups when I stated I only want people who are exp up to a certain phase in it so many many many T9 and 13 wipes do to this. At lest ask and if they say no sorry move on.

If someone has been told the tactics and still does not listen to it after two wipes, then I think its only just for the remaining players to give him or her a ultimatum: Either the player acts like a teamplayer and follows the tactics or we kick him or her out and they can try it with another party. The sad thing is, they can always rejoin the group and ruin it for us.

In general I have a high tolerance for players doing stupid things, but the following 3 just makes me wanna summon Bahamut on their ass:

1. Tank that rush the group without talking with the rest of the group, these tank rush, before I can buff them and die. They type"where is mah healz?" and repeat the speedrush. I have learned that letting them die is the best solution, in time they will slow down and we can finish the run.

2. DPS that pull the mobs and keep standing in the AoE. Most of the time I heal them anyway, because it could be a internet issue, but there are times where I just stand there with a grin and watch their hp drop while they are standing in the AoE.

3. Healers who dps and do not heal the group. I understand as a healer if you are able to dps, do it. I do it with my SCH and the group loves me for it. But for some reason whenever I do the Main Scenario roulette I see both healers with cleric stance dpsing, while the other players are dying around them. As a healer your first priority should be to heal your team, do dps after their HP is back up.

These type of players are the worst, imo. The reason is, because whenever you tell them this, they go like "I pay my own subscription, so I can play however I want" and in a way this is true, but when playing with others you need to be aware that your actions can waste other peoples time.

It took me months to finally have a party good enough to complete Titan Extreme, so my tolerance has reached sainthood.

For instance, a party I was in last night wiped six times against the last boss of The Vault. I just kept encouraging people and we finally got it done.

my tolerance level is infinite, I play with whoever lands with me, I can only try my best, I dont mind wiping constantly, I dont mind doing over and over and over again stuff. I only ask tanks if they can try and use their various options to lower the intake of damages, more then not it works fine, I had tanks going from full down to zero in one shot, I had tanks never using ANY of their skills, I had newby, excellent players I just loved it to meet them, I had experienced that were bad, new that were good, new that were bad and experienced that were good....the ONLY think that I have tolerance zero is for insults, the rest, I just dont care...each time is a challenge for me, to beat a content with bad people (so called bad) is wonderful, beat a content with good people is magnificent....every time there is something new to learn, new ways, new options that forces you to reinvent your ability to play whatever class you choose and adapt, probably the most difficult thing.

If all were of this same mind, we would just be in a perfect world, the world is not perfect, but I try to find my perfect world in this imperfect place, is all that matters.

Your last sentence works both ways though, if healers waste your time by not Healing, others waste the time of healers by not using their ability to mitigate damages....is not always healers the problem...

I have a high tolerance for small mistakes and people who don't understand their job and are willing to learn, low tolerance for people who don't know their job and don't respond to anything regardless.

my normal way for dealing with that is a noise asking if they even speak English, then telling them to pay attention. if nothing works, i leave.

What strikes me in all these threads is that everybody posting in them thinks they are better than the other players they have the misfortune to be grouped with.
Tolerance is always seen as something to be (in some cases) given to others, but never needed FROM others.
It's delusion, folks.

My tolerance level varies on the dungeon, raid or trial. When it comes to the Vault, I expect at least one wipe even with experienced players and maybe 2-3 if the healer or tank is new (Charibert the n00b slayer). In higher level instances, you have to sort of suck it up when it comes to the combination of difficulty and new players. That being said, if someone REFUSES to learn the mechanics or they are just out right uncooperative, expect a kick vote. I typically try to be patient with everyone because you never know when you're gonna need that good karma.

I leveled a BlackMage to lvl 51 think that beats your tolerance nssixn6 :P BLM worst class ever, in a game that requires you to move within half the aoe's timer.. then randomly interupts your spells for no reason at all, nothing hit me, or died near me and interupt can't cast for 30sec for somereason oh then! If something dies near me I get interupted, if a monster does an aoe but I'm no where near it I get interupted. like seriously BLM delete this class and redo it with something that can actually cast a spell. >:( Grrrr frustrating! When it doesn't get interupted though the class is good. Good luck with that though.
