Ugh I hate when people call our character's toons.
Idk why that makes me so mad LOL.
Friggin' Toon Town and Looney Toons.
Where did toon even come from in MMO's?

I think it more meant "coil" as in a power coil. Dalamud was basically an enormous energy source.

Alexander is on the tornado scale, everyone

Floors, Turns, Layers, does it matter? call it whatever you want, I'll just use A-T1/A-T2/A-T3/A-T4 for them =P

But.. if you call it floors wouldn't the PF be filled with Dragoons? Who knows more about dealing with floors than a Dragoon? Think of all the other Dps and Machinist that would not be able to get into the raid.

I call them Hand, Wirst, Pitstain and shoulder.

I'm making a Farm group - X person has a choice they can either qq about floor vs turns or get in and get shit done.

Anyhow to me Coil is pretty much dead now. Alexander's turn is now in play. Ain't nobody got time to to debate.

If you wanna be specific then you go by their actual names, fist, cuff, arm and... Burden or whatever the last one was :p

How would you, as a player, refer to each 層 in English? A turn? A floor?

It can mean layer, seam, bed, stream, story, floor, class among others things.

Ah, I see the mistake I made. I didn't realize the "Turn" terminology was player-made. I thought it was written into the interface.

Ah yes, I just wanted to illustrate that officially the JP version never gave them a specific word like "Turn". But it turns out the I never checked the EN version interface before, so I based my reply on my own assumptions only.

層 following a number absolutely means "floor," though it is obviously less common than 階. The localization team was probably trying to go for something similar with their naming - i.e. more unusual/exotic than "floor."

In hindsight, odds are all the FFXI players will just call it floors anyway in reference to Nyzule Isle. Otherwise Layer = Floor, depending on the language.

Hair of the Father ?
Nipple of the Father ?
Ass of the Father ?

Who cares? We have called them turns because we got used to the 8 man coil raids, sure the correct naming is not a Turn. But really does it matter? We could call them trails or but their names like fist...cuff...so on.

I've just been seeing a1, a2, a3, and a4. I didn't see them labeled floors in the DF, so I'll just stick with this.

I agree with many others....call it A1 - A4 to hell with this turn or floor crap :D

Yesterday, someone shouted "FARM T4 GO PF!".
After asking, it was Bahamut Coil T4 light farm.

So yeah, it does matter.

I initially didn't know what to call them so I went with 'Alex T1, T2, T3, T4'.... then I thought "that can be confusing and I'm extremely lazy. 'A1, A2, A3, A4?'..."

Seeing this debate and the demand to call them Floors, a.) Now I know what to refer to them as, b.) the demand/'omgwtfs' to call them floors just makes me want to rebel >_>

This seems to be the core of the complaint and let me say it as simply as I can....


CONTEXT. It shouldn't be hard to tell the difference between people wanting to go to coil for giggles or wanting to do Alex for loot.
