still to see a FF w/o tech ,or tech vs magic , or tech as a way to use "magic"... is what makes FF so great , mixing both High fantasy with "sci-fi" in a way that makes sense.

I'm pretty sure that Alexander was a sealed Primal like Bahamut, possibly even an Eikon (which they recently made a distinction between that and primal).
It seems foreshadowed in the MSQ for sure.
They directly said that the Allagans had more sealed beings like Bahamut, and we should cautious because such dangerous things are out there waiting to be unsealed.
Lo and behold, the main raid of this expansion is primal that was seemingly trapped in a futuristic bubble.
It's not an Allagan raid, but this thing is definitely ancient and powerful enough to be sealed by the Allagans.
So it might have some differences with the Goblins as we know them now.
Well being that the barrier around Alexander probably wasn't just to keep us out gameplay-wise, he probably realised that it was a barrier to keep something locked away, and it wouldn't be the first time a Primal has had such happen (Bahamut being one in a way, and the essences of many of the other beastman Primals were apparently sealed away in Silvertear Lake prior to Midgar taking a explosive dive there.)
since when fantasy is only limited to midage designs?
Final Fantasy XIII, FFVII etc. are far beyond "traditional fantasy".
And the alexander gear isnt sci fi at all.. it looks very mechanical... like alexander itself.. and like an old clock/or steam machine..

this is sci fi to you? ;XD Its the design of a damn steam machine. And so the gear
the gear of coil was much more sci fi alike.
Im sure somehow its gonna involve some allagan. They always do >_>
Actually, I bet it's something the Sharlayans cooked up. The illuminati goblins probably summoned the primal before but was sealed below the lake by the Sharlayans. There doesn't seem to be evidence in the area unlike Dalamud that the Allagians had any involvement in the area.
I don't like the gears >_< Law ones are cooler to me.
Music is really terrible... the armor style is alright but it's way too same-y. Would've been nice to see more of a distinction between the classes' armors.
Really goes to show how subjective ones taste in music can be because I really like it. In fact, it's maybe my favorite track.
The gear on the other hand...
I like the music but I can't say for the gear, it was too dark to really see it well enough.
Hopefully the monk set isn't just a copy/paste of Ninja's....music was awesome though...hopefully it isn't just the music for the trailer lol...only time I'd turn on ingame music
Oooh look at the content I'll never be allowed to do. <3
The version we're getting tomorrow is designed for the more casual side of the player base while the hardcore players will get a Savage version two weeks after. This was a result of players wanting to experience the stories behind the endgame content and now everyone will get to enjoy the stories behind Alexander.
oh boy. more butt capes and long coats for heavy armor :/
look neat, but some point:
with the recent info about how the primal did start to appear first, ascien did offer them to the rebel fighting against the allag, it's fairly possible that gobelin did heard of it and use it now as them primal. a primal by itself only need prayer and crystal energy for stay in this world. i feel the story is far more complex, than simply: "Gobelin did summon it"
why you ask? because what alexander did come from was ruin covered by a shield powered by crystal. i doubt the gobelin was behind this. probably something far older.
Quoting this interview:
It could be a mistranslation, but if it isn't I'd say that isn't exactly geared towards the casual side of the player base. Let's hope it isn't true, because that's what BCoB-FCoB were like.Quote:
The normal mode will be higher difficulty than that of the Extreme Primals, but easier than Second Coil of Bahamut's Savage Mode.
i'm pretty sure they stated that it will be different floors, and you can get tokens from each floor, once/week. so if you can clear all floors each week, you get more tokens, than if you only clear first floor.
Alexander normal is supposedly a little harder than WoD = not hard at all, so it shouldn't be any problems to get full tokens each week.
uhm the music is ok, it has a mechanical feel to it, but duno if it fits alexander.
the equips look ok, they have an alexander feel to them, so that's good. the weps all look nice, and dat nin set <3
Armor looks uninspiring tbh, compare it to Ironworks, and you can see how bland it looks. Music is good, it just clashes with Brayflox HM style, which may put some people off who got a different feel for Goblins before Alex.
That was my first thought. Even the lvl 50-60 crafted gear has more personality than that.
Also the whole idea of goblins being behind the current hardest content in game just doesn't sound right to me. Oh well, I guess we will have to wait and see how the story develops.
im glad that SE didnt go the way like WoW did... faster, higher, bigger.. more shiny etc.
So why is it bland? because it has no disco *blinky* effect to it? i like that the design seems to fit the steam machine look
glad that it isnt like:

Gogogo power raangers! ;D
The plate helmets look like the head of alexander

So the design resembles more the alexander design itself:

Yeah, I think the armor reminds me of first coil. And it's not a bad thing that they kind of "reset" the gear flash.
it'd be great if the armor is dyable in contrast to allagan gear..
Could be that DoW (and the DoM to a lesser extent) all look very samey. One spikey shoulder plate for DPS classes (excluding DoM), colours are too similar with not enough variation, all of it is very metal looking, etc. It fits the theme of the raid, but it doesn't have to end up looking very similar to each other. The weapons look fantastic though.
Ya this versions gear is bland and all the same look on purpose. If you want to make it look unique and dye it then you have to do savage mode.
Ninja looks like Tyrael.
GOTTA get me that soundtrack. I just want to loop the trailer and have a rave party lol
Just glad to have something different. The music from coil was so old at this point and the look is getting played out. As far as the hear goes it looks ok. The poetic and dread gear was horrible looking. The high allagan gear is still my fav. Look forward to crushing this like the other. More excited about savage tho honestly.

better quality and picture guys!

I don't find the design boring.
To you all saying it is the Goblin's primal that is not exactly true (lore fanatic here)
FFXIV a History: Many a history ago the Sharlayan had a mass exodus to their home country it is also presumed that another group later turn into the port city of Nymeria? during this exodus they left behind a lot of ancient Magick and knowledge that rival that of the Allagan in its own unique way (magiv vs technology) ----- sometime later after the city had degraded quite a bit the Goblins made it its own. The goblins been tinkers as they are have unlocked and discover many things one such thing is Alexander which they accidentally discover/summon by two reason - discover through curiosity and summoned by not wanting us to restore the home they now claim. Additionally the goblins want us to stop Alexander they are not like the kabolds/other primals that summon their Aikon to destroy us they just accidentally stumble upon it.
PS: Of course there could be a more sinister Illuminati plot behind it all but I guess we will need to discover this plot in Alexander itself!
I think the armor looks great.
I think it would have been better if Alex normal was more casual friendly considering a lot of people wanted to experience the storyline of coil in person but couldn't due to personal issues. Now Coil is a ghost town and people who want to experience the Coil storyline are having a hard time entering it since most people have focused on 3.0 content or just left it because it is no longer up to date or rewarding enough.
For me it was that I didn't have enough time in my life to run Coil in a static nor practice for it so I'm mostly stuck waiting for the DF release do do those things. I was actually more interested in the Coil story than the gears since I know the gear will be outdated every 6 months.
and don't give me that "That is what Youtube is for" excuse because SE has made it clear they don't want players posting up the endgame storyline on Youtube with how they take Coil Story cutscene videos down whenever they can and there is a difference between watching someone else have their character experience the storyline and having your character experience the storyline.
Also savage mode will by dyeable and higher ilvl so you can make the armor look different.
I like the music. The weapons look really cool, even though I'm not a huge fan of the armor. The artwork looks nice, but the in-game render doesn't maintain that same wow factor. Maybe it was just the lighting in the dungeon, but it looked so washed out and dingy looking. Also I hate yellow, so that big yellow panel smack dab in the middle of the healer robe is an instant con for me. >.<
Regardless, I'm still looking forward to trying it. Although if what was said earlier is true (that it's more difficult than ExPrimals and slightly less difficult than Savage Coil 2), without a static, I don't see a majority of the player base completing it given how many can't even push past Bismarck Ex.
the lancer weapon looks the worst out of them all imo
