I had to facepalm over someone who said "but all my attacks under WM seem so much bigger!" Yes, they are 20% bigger, and that multiplies when you pile on your damage buffs like Raging Strikes, Blood for Blood, etc.
What you're NOT seeing is the missing auto attacks that are no longer adding in an extra 400-500 damage every five or so seconds, which would also shoot up to 600+ under Raging Strikes and BFB.
That's why bards who don't parse are all like "wm is fine you're just bad" and the bards who do parse are like "uhhhhh"
It's now also a bit harder to sneak in the off GCD damage stuff with the cast time. A very good, totally lag free bard can still do it, but it is a heck of a lot harder with WM.
Not even. I dont parse and can tell the DPS is lower. My own tests included fighting the same mobs repeatedly from full health, no SS buff at the beginning, using only Barrage as a buff, and no kiting. Only moving when avoiding a special attack. They not only obviously took longer to kill under WM but naturally live long enough to do that much more damage to me before dying. Ironically it was around 20% more damage instead of the other way around as WM would have you believe.
MAYBE the new moves would change that at higher levels but given that the WM buff is not actually an actual "buff" tells me that even if higher level abilities like Sidewinder and Empyrial Arrow (sp?) do help, its only because they are locked behind the use of WM itself.
make bards like ffxi and support roles ... they weren't meant as archers or dps class in the first place... give us the songs to play as support and benefit the party......
What exactly was hard about the 2.x BRD?
SS -> BL -> DoT -> DoT -> RoF -> HS into infinity.
The 2.x BRD literally had 2 DoTs, a buff and a single "nuke". Tedium AND ease. Not exactly a good combo.
And before you try to tell me about the cooldowns, you could pretty much just hit a cooldown, any cooldown, every time one run out and chain them in a loop.
The new BRD under Minuet is more about timing. At 54, i greatly enjoy the playstyle difference offered by having Minuet on.
Yoshi-P has acknowledged that Minuet isn't being the DPS increase it was intended to be and is adjusting it.
Thats not to say good BRDs can't get solid numbers out of Minuet, just that its not performing quite as well as the Devs intended.
Then again, its always better to undertune slightly than overtune new things as the Ninja clearly showed, the community reacts terribly to perceived nerfs even when the supposed nerf is actually a bug fix (Read: DRKs on Dark Arts lol)
If Minuet can be toggle on or of without casting time...
My BRD's still level 50 so I have no opinion about them currently, but I just wanted to point out that Yoshi already said Minuet is going to be tweaked.

i'm curious to know something, how this change did get live without be notice before? i means with a good test session, they will have notice the loose of dps, anyone will have see it. the bard and machinist (and a lot of other jobs too) change are kinda meh and feel untested! they was toss at us without a good test session, or this change will not did reach us and a lot of complain will not exist.
It is wholly possible they intentionally tuned things lower to see what players do with the tools given to them.
It really feels like they got burned on the reaction from the community with Ninja and its 'nerfs'. Mayhaps they didnt want a repeat burn and a buff to underperforming skills is more welcome than nerfs to OP ones. Hell, even a bug fix has gotten some in the DRK community up in arms (Dark Arts being usable on multiple skills in a row rather than its intended single use).
What I think is that maybe the BRD tester team was separate from the rest of the DPS tester team. By itself the BRD change is tolerable, but when compared to the other DPS's massive output now, it falls flat.
