I think it's alright, been leveling pretty slow myself. Now I can't access the game though because SE shipped out the physical copies too late. So yeah, would've been 60 by now.

There is kind of a difference between what they are asking for and what you are asking for though.... They are asking for content faster which benefits everyone as we all get new things to do. You are asking to hold off content, which takes away new things for people to do. And if you say holding off content benefits the slower players, please tell me how it will be any different in August to how it will be after launch. This whole other people post pointless threads so I can approach... I'm guessing no one ever gave you the would you jump off a cliff if so and so would talk when you were a kid, just because people do stupid things doesn't mean you should.
But seriously whats up with these forums today, someone complaining about to many new abilities and another complaining about the new raids coming to soon, sounds you guys should have just stayed in 2.0
We did it with average ilvl of under 160. I tanked it at 151 PLD as our member whos levelling DRK isn't at 60 yet. Only 3 members where in full Law, and not fully upgraded. BLM, 1xBRD and WAR. 2x BRDS, 1x BLM 1x DRG.
Problem is many are used to heavily over-gearing content when it gets released due to it being a lower ILVL requirement than the previous tomestone ilvl.
Bring on Alex!
The thing is, the Warrior will always put out more DPS then a Paladin. However, you should still be able to clear the DPS check with 2 Paladins in Shield Oath. Ofcourse it's possible to equip a strength build and go Sword Oath, but by doing so you will also increase the damage you take and add to the strain for healers to keep them alive. In order to get through the DPS checks, everyone has to be most out of their classes that's true. But, i don't think people should rely on a Paladin's dps to get through the DPS check. My "fear" would be that when parties are not getting through the DPS check, tanks will have to switch to Warrior just to get through. That would not be good for people running the duty through the DF (since it will be a likely scenario that will not be grouped with a warrior as tank).
There was plenty of time to level and gear I got DRK to 60 this week end and gearing it now.
what we do need thou is a raid roulette that involves the crystal tower raids may not be a good idea to do the coil ones but who knows maybe down the line.
Don't misudnerstand - I don't think that Tanks /should/ have to make up for weak DPS. I had that in a static and it -enraged- me.
But what I was pointing out to the person that was going back-and-forth with me was simply that the person who posted that they were i179... was only ONE person. A group working together can make up for the weakest factor, but a single GOOD player can't make up for an entire party being bad. Likewise, my WAR can match some DPS, but I'm not gonna be able to do it alone, no matter how much DPS I do.
I do agree with you... I hope people don't start spamming WAR's, or trying to make PLD/DRK's feel obsolete. Because that'll just get WAR's nerfed, and imo? We're in a good position right now as what we're meant to be - a heavy damage tank with good spikes of mitigation and a beefy HP pool for survivability.
Forgive me, but why did you quote me? I specifically stated in my post that I will never force someone to skip cutscenes in combat. And honestly, the 50-60 dungouns are easy enough that you don't need to read for them. All mechanics are implied, except maybe one or two outliers. But none of them that I've seen are really whipeable.
Regardless, I don't disagree. you should NEVER be forced to skip cutscenes. As for reading up on story dungouns... people aren't going to be que'ing those unless they're fishing for first timers atm, or they are helping their friend. I think most people are going in with a pretty open mind. But the two dungouns that come after? Feel free to read on them if you want. The two Extremes/The raids when they come out? It is more polite to read for the fights in those scenarios.
Not really. Problem in this game is if you don't get into something from day 1, you get left behind. When people try to catch up, they get kicked for being new or not being an expert. I'm not saying they should delay the release of raids. For those that have real life responsibilities that keep them from getting multiple jobs to 60 in a week, this will be the result.
I lvled up 60 yesterday ; lots of people are already ilvl 170+, lvl60 dungeons are already rushed (and I hate rush for the first time :/)... This is sad, the expac launch was not a week ago and I feel I was too slow to enjoy the content :s
This makes no sense, whatsoever. Too large of a gap because you think some people are too low. As you say, you don't know.
Trust me, there are A LOT of people who are cap now...They have about another week or so to get ready.
People will jump in and learn it. More content for the raiders please...they're starting to seep
in random dungeons acting all high and mighty. We need Alex so they can in there and harass others raiders lol.
Practice makes perfect, we can't hold out.
I need to get my ass on the hunts and roulettes. Need to gear up for Alexander....
Honestly, I don't think it's too soon for those that would have been highly interested in it to begin with (and those are t he people that would have been 60 ages ago, usually), and those moderately interested would be hitting it soon enough. There's no rush. The upside to those coming in a bit of time after Alexander's release is the use of guides.
First guys in have to deal with figuring things out and inevitably wiping while doing so. I'm sure tempers will flare during then just as much as they will while wiping after things were figured out.
I understand where the OP is coming from, since also in my FC there are many with 60 and gearing up for Alex even though it has only been a little over a week since early access. When most of your FC is doing that, it is easy to feel 'left behind' or 'too slow'. However, keep in mind that the percentage of players who actually read and post in these forums is really low, as with most MMOs (I'd wager less than 20% of the actual gaming population - who knows - but even still, look at the % of NA who cleared final coil // it was really, really low). Out of those people who actually read these, there is probably a high proportion who like to raid. These people are the ones who would post wanting raids not to be delayed, and I don't blame them -- when your focus is doing endgame type stuff, and none is released soon enough, you'll get bored and either unsub or complain. So no, I don't think Alex should be delayed since people need something to do if they are the type who have had the time and done effort to get to 60 and gear.
It's too soon only for people who can't play all day.
Many people in my FC hit 60 last week. I simply can't get enough off-time to play as much as them, so they're already in the i175-i180 range.
Yea that's how I think about it. I have a real life and couldn't spend all day on a game. It does make you feel left out when your fc is talking about getting ready to raid and farming for gear. It sucks because I can the join in the same runs and conversations as them because I'm "behind". Oh well when they are burnt out from speed leavling I will still be slowly enjoying the game. To each his own.
I think it should be ok, I mean early access was 5 days, then 14 days till alexander normal launches, then another 7 days to get ur weekly tokens or w/e the heck they are. That's 26 days to get to lvl 60 and a few pieces of law gear. Even then missing one or two weeks shouldn't be a problem since you can get anywhere between 1-4 pieces of alexander gear each week depending on what slot you wan't to upgrade armor/accessory.
Huh? No, not at all. Not unless you belong to a hardcore raiding FC, which wouldn't be the case in the example of someone more casual.
I am somewhere between casual and hardcore. I generally play about 30 hours a week. I have never been kicked for being new or not "being an expert". I've even talked someone through a fight I had never even done myself since I researched the fight beforehand. Best thing to do when you're doing content for the first time is simply say "first time" in chat when you start. 9 times out of 10 people will be more than happy to tell you about any mechanics you might need to know.
This game is actually one of the few MMOs that DOESN'T have a problem with being left behind.
Hey if you don't like reading something then it sounds like maybe you need to just stay out of it? No but you rather just tell ppl to stay in 2.0 claps your helpful very much so hooray. Anyway once again i never was asking SE to hold things back for others i was simply
giving out my opinion which somehow seems to threaten players like you :P maybe you should stay off the forums
How about no! Cause if it gets delayed then there isn't anything to do for those of us who are ilvl170+ already.
I think they should release it when it's ready and I'll play it when I'm ready. Just because it's out doesn't mean you HAVE to do it right now.
Nah I don't think it is too soon at all.
The first Alexander raid coming really isn't going to be the hardcore one anyhow. It will be more casual like coil with echo type feel. The savage mode is what everyone will be pushing to get down and where the challenge is.
Ex primals probably will. Raids are fine as they are.
Like right now I'm afraid I will have to wait forever to beat the new EX primals because I won't have time to attempt it in 2 weeks.
So in two weeks I'm assuming no one is doing them anymore (Lets hope i'm wrong, but looking at moggle and ramuh ex it could happen)
i doubt alex normal is going to drop weapons , ravana ex weapons are going to be BiS until alex savage last turn...
and to do ravana ex u need to do bismark ex , so both are going to be relevant for weeks.
remember that relic weapons arent coming until 3.1 and thats 2months+ away
And im sure SE will add echo later on and put on DR trial.
