Artifact Armors!

The shield is just sideways, you can tell from the pattern.

The dark knight is Lancer, you can see the entire lance from holding it left and then the bace of the lancer down near the archer. The top end that is included in the armors back spikes is also a handle, its the only one that is pole and silver.

Really like Pugs knuckles though being lions with wings on them, reminds me of FF8.

Dragoon how I long for thee....I'm hoping bards can just pull out their harps and play them in the streets :P

The art looks amazing!

I hope how the Dragoon is set up in the art is a hint to Jump!.

The White Mage and Black Mage Artifacts look very good! Cant wait for jobs!~

They look sweet, i feel the Roe looks more like a Beastmaster looking at his outfit, the fur and Horned hat but im probably wrong >.> lol

ARC > Bard(really cool idea)
LNC > Dragoon
GLD > Paladin
CON > Black Mage
THM > White Mage
PGL > Monk (awesome wolf-head weapons!)
MRD > likely Berserker, but could be Beastmaster

color me excited.

Dragoon looks so similar to Kain that it hurts.

He was kinda lawful chaos-type so it's not surprising that they are making the Job a bit more on the evil side this time too, if that's where they drew their inspiration from.

As all class skills will be re-evaluated, our best bet is to go by the names and general concepts of the classes:

Conjurer: One who summons. This is a class heavily focused on elemental power, so BLM seems to be the natural outgrowth.

Thaumaturge: A performer of miracles or magic feats - often associated with healing. FFXIV put a life-death/astral-umbral twist on Thaumaturgery, but people tend to only focus on the death side of it.

The most important actions have already been re-evaluated, and guess where the focus is as far as healing spells go....

It would make more sense for archer to become like a corsair or a job that uses a gun so it will be in the similar category rather than from DPS > SUPPORT.

Except Musketeer is already a class, we just don't have it yet. Archer is bard, the picture pretty much confirms it.

Also...isn't the Dragoon in the exact same pose as Kain in one of his Amano artworks?

What's the point of changing the classes to be like WHM and BLM? Why not just replace them entirely, lol.

Devs don't understand anything.

(By the way, Im not suggesting they replace them. I just think it's stupid to make a THM into a BLM and keep calling it a THM.)

I think the Devs do understand a lot, a lot more than you probably do considering they're the ones actually creating this content.

They're not making Thaum into a Black Mage, they're (likely) giving Thaum Black Mage as a job. There's a difference here. Yes they started shifting the skills so that Conjurer favors healing and Thaumaturge favors damage but they are still Conjurer and Thaumaturge. Black Mage and White Mage are completely different.

Saying "they are giving THM the BLM job" is just a roundabout way of saying "THM becomes BLM."

Thus THM BECOMES BLM.

So what's the point of THM? Especially if they are also changing THM skills so that they can justify it becoming a BLM. Therefore THM will already be BLM before you even apply the BLM job to it.

You see how pointless it all is?

Actually, it did derive from FFXI as actual gear. The art style did not but it turned it into actual quested armor pieces to define the job's classic appearance.

Where would you ever get that idea from? Have you been in the Musketeer's Guild in Limsa? The symbol has guns, the walls are lined with guns, the Musketeer NPCs all have guns. There are guns everywhere.

A Musket is a gun.

The look of each job is quite nice though some have left me wondering.

The musketeers' guild in Limsa has a flag with two guns, and is loaded with gun-swinging lads.

But didn't the three musketeers use swords... It's an innocent mistake.

Ever played any other MMO? Bards use bows, that's as basic Minstrel-style weapon as there can be. Unless you shoot melodies out of your harp to deal damage, but that right there would be stupid.

It is a bit odd. Most jobs are taking the direction of evolving to be a better version of the class except with archer where if it is going to be bard it is completely the opposite direction. It would have been better suited to find a different job to suit archer.

I never looked at the musketeer guild symbol. x.x I guess that means we don't get corsair...

I had this long buried movie memory of musketeers where I vaguely recall them using skinny swords like rapier and fence.

Either way, I think bard seems to be a wrong job progression for the Archer class. But if we are getting it, then there is no changing it :P

A friend and I thought the same thing. I remember they either said they were considering or working on implementing the ability for casters to cast with their weapons put away. Wouldn't be surprised if each mage job got their own special casting animation. In fact, we're supposed to get better auto-attack animations in 1.19, as well as a fix to the deal with drawing your weapon while running.

Dancers (usually the female version of a bard) also used Bows and Whips. It would indeed be stupid to throw back to FFIV/V in terms of attacking with a musical instrument :P

Lol sorry to burst your bubble guys but I hiiighly doubt that's a harp lol. For one; harps don't have just 4 strings, second; harps dont have thick pieces of wood/metal going through the middle of the strings. Also do you know how rediculously hard it would be to go from shooting an arrow to playing a harp on the end of a bow with only 4 strings and a piece of wood in the middle of said strings to shooting another arrow?

This is a fantasy game I understand but.. just no..

Aye i dont believe i've ever seen the 3 musketeers use anything but rapiers they were more like fencers than anything so it is a bit of an oddity. Maybe someone just didnt want them running around gunning people down /shrugs.

edit: by someone i mean the people who wrote the films books w/e or perhaps musketeer was their profession in a war they served in but after that they didnt handle guns.

I don't know man, http://i56.tinypic.com/2h81fs5.jpg just because it's missing 1 string wouldn't mean anything. People would complain that it would be too "complex" to play if they make a harp with all appropriate amounts of string.

Look closer at the picture, that "piece of wood" as you call it! Is not in the middle of the strings its the back of the harp... it's a handle, so the strings are in front of it. Also there would be more than 4 strings, the "WOOD" (handle) is blocking view of at least 2 strings it looks like. So seems like there is 6 strings, again this is concept art. (Google 6 string harp.. I found like 1 lol)

am i the only one that thinks that bow looks stupid, bows are big enough, now they'll have a harp hanging off them,lol.
