I'm sure the OP meant exclusively.. Though I wouldn't mind an all girl beastman race ;P New Mexico Whiptail Beastman please!
Well, XIV started in 1.0 with the same race/gender diversity as XI and... well, fans didn't like that. They had enough of that with XI, demanding male miqo'te and female highlanders and roegadyn. The chances of another gender-exclusive race is very slim as it'd be met with the same outcry. People are kind of tired of it after decades of it from older MMOs, XI still included.
I would play a female version of Ronso. I'm honestly sick of girl characters having no options to look tough or beast like. I'm not asking to play a Skyrim Kahjiit (though that would be awesome!!!) I'm asking for some characteristics that make it look less like I'm just a cute human in cat cosplay...
I'm female in real life, but pretty-princess just isn't my thing, but its the only option in this game for female characters lol
Found it!Here is the source for this. http://www.siliconera.com/2013/02/22...baby-behemoth/Quote:
Q38: In terms of new races, what kind of races are you looking into and will mixed races be introduced?
A38: I don’t think we’ll have mixed races for a while. Since it seems like Viera is popular around the world we have been proactively looking into this, but since having a rabbit male might be kind of weird, maybe we’ll look into having a separate race for the male counterpart.
I'll continue looking for where Yoshi wanted to make a beastial race. It's so damn hard to find. Anything with Viera I can find so easily. lol I'm actually using what the developers said, surprisingly, I know.
I didn't say no one played as female orcs and tauren. It's just rare to see in comparison to their male counterparts. I'm completely fine with androgynous; however, it is usually we who complain they don't look feminine enough because we always want recognizable traits. I'll admit, my PoV is bias based on the realm I used to be on. I'll find something more suitable to either weigh my point or yours across. (Be nice if it was yours, trust me). This is the best I could get, since most stats focused on race only. http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/...r-TCG-ArtworksQuote:
I play female orcs and tauren. Femcows are cute and cuddly looking. Your point there is busted.
They could go with something so androgynous that you can't tell what sex it is, or just not have it selectable.
One gender only(ie Mithra) is just stupid imo and its why you can make male Miqo'te.

As you have both Hyru and Miqo'te. Which both can be made effeminate cute males. You are already cater to, in which people want a beast-like race, are not. Remember, I don't want them to suddenly beef up Miqo'te on steroids, or completely destroy Au'ra. I'm asking for something that caters to me, to people who are put off the game from lack of diversity for race choices. Who else am I going to cuddle if there is no cute people! I don't mind if you don't cheer for it, as long as you aren't against it and say, "Never means never"Quote:
but as one of those players who specifically seeks out the non-traditional archetypes (cutesy, effeminate males), I could never bring myself to support it.

Yes, I have Ronso pictures out the ass. Hehe
Don't worry, I understand. :P I'm just trying to compromise between popular options. As I'm more in the minority, I have to give some leeway, in some manner or form. Don't mistake this as that I don't want a female beast race at all. I truly do; but, based on statistics and through my worldly view (playing different MMOs) female beastmen aren't usually popular. Honestly, the Ronso females can range from beautiful to more gruff through the art I've seen. I'm sure it could be that way for others based on Square's talents.Quote:
@OP - I see where you're trying to go with it but I have to say I'm against creating a race that's locked to a single gender.
I kind of want them to be seen as more of beastmen for story purposes. Maybe a main character will actually need a reason to cover their face. *winks* It could add a major character that comes in to link the beastmen and "humanoid" races together for the purpose of preparing against the Garlean Empire. You see that they're struggling already fighting off the beastmen and Garleans in the story line. If the Garlean Empire would go full force on us we'd be squashed like bugs. If we don't solve that issue this expansion the next one could work on this.Quote:
I don't mind the idea, even though a beast like race would be considered "Beastmen". If they can make it happen sure. Maybe add a female only race afterwards.

I'll be honest, it's a bit hard for me to really understand this topic, but from what I understand the main underlying argument is that the unpopularity of non-gender-traditional archetypes (masculine females, effeminate males) means that a race more dramatically skewed in one direction or the other (super cutesy or super macho/bestial) would benefit from being mono-gendered in that its non-traditional counterpart would neither skew the design nor eat up resources for what would be expected to be a largely unpopular race/gender option. Is... that about right?
I don't know, it makes sense from a purely utilitarian (and really, really jaded) perspective, but as one of those players who specifically seeks out the non-traditional archetypes (cutesy, effeminate males), I could never bring myself to support it. Then again, I'm anything but a typical player, so who knows. So, again, it's understandable, but I won't be cheering if such a race is ever actually added.
I was kind of disappointed in the female Au Ra myself. I was hoping that they'd be a little more bestial or tough looking... taller at the very least. We already have plenty of tiny cute females, but eh I'll end up just switching to a male character again. I get it, they made the race to echo the most popular archetypes. Hulking men, kawaii waifus. At least you can have some fun with the faces and features though; I've managed to make some downright bitchy-looking female Au Ra, even if it's a little hard to take them seriously since they're five foot nothing. xD
@OP - I see where you're trying to go with it but I have to say I'm against creating a race that's locked to a single gender.
I think Miqo'te being a catrace and then all-female was one of the few ways to make a gender-exclusive race make sense, because it sort of parallels big cats' behavior in the wild. There is typically only one male in company of way more females, who typically run the show -- the other males will inevitably go off to make prides of their own. (or die as loners, hence male miqo'tes being naturally rare in the lore)
Roe was probably Male-only because they didn't think anyone wanted to play a large, muscular-built female. Thankfully, we got this option with highlander as well, because it adds some well-needed variety to a world that is supposed to feel immersive.
People complain about the female Au Ra being so disproportionate to males, but in my opinion it makes the race as a whole feel more beast-like than any of the other races, since sex usually only produces such a massive difference in more exotic creatures, like spiders or something. Honestly it was probably just a convenient excuse to create another cutsey female body type, but I think it works out pretty well.
I don't mind the idea, even though a beast like race would be considered "Beastmen". If they can make it happen sure. Maybe add a female only race afterwards.

I hate to admit this; but, this is how the majority of gamers seem to think. Like the chart for WoW on page 5. Heck, Elin are extremely popular on Tera for a reason.Quote:
If it ain't cute, they don't give a hoot.
I already talked about this in the OP; however, I'll tell this again just for you. The major fear I have is if they make a female counterpart (as people don't want to play "ugly" females) they'll make them cute and very human like. This, in return, will make the males look like a different race, so in response they'll most likely dilute the males along with the females to ensure they seem like they come from the same stock. Feel free to read: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...xualDimorphism This will never happen, but you know the reason why it does.
I don't know! lol There just seems this thing about it. Honestly, those Ronso female pictures are like amazing. *blows off fanboism* We know beauty is subjective anyway.... >.> <,< *links picture*

This made me laugh. lol
But like... why dawg. You just explained that people wouldn't play ugly females instead of why you want an only male one.
Why exactly do beefy males and ugly females have to go hand in hand?
