Remember when things only stacked to 12, including lumber, fine sand, etc.?
Do you remember when SE only gave us one retainer and it could only hold 80 items and also our personal inventory was only 80 items.
Remember when Aetherytes had no time limit on restoration so you could pull mobs into the aetheryte camp and regenerate life/mp whenever you wanted? (Essentially turning camps into clusterfucks of monsters and people)
Remember when falling under the terrain in Uldah was a fairly normal occurence?
Remember when everyone was excited because we got an extra month of free play?
Remember when acquiring an item when your inventory was full would simply drop it instead of putting it in your loot list?

I remember when the only way to get any sort of gear or weapons at all, was to craft it. And you had to have like rank20 in 3 crafts to make a rank 5 gear...
I remember when there weren't any restrictions at all on guildleve, you could do them all you want.
I remember cassiopeia hollow was a secret leveling place and mole caves were heavily camped ...

I remember the cheesecake thread .............

I remember when market wards all had completely obscure names that meant nothing, so everyone just went to the first one on the list, and the only way to find what you wanted was to check every single retainer ......
I remember when there was no way to tell that you leveled up besides checking the menu, and your exp bar only updated if you opened the attributes menu.
I remember when people first found out what surplus really was ...............

Do you remember when on the first day of CE release it was almost impossible to get in, and when you did you heard shouts for linkshells.. and people running around naked with onion helmets :3
Do you remember when Grid was actually packed full of people?
I remember when using shockspikes made you a moron because it gave you less SP.

do you remember how many times you watched 15 man parties get owned fighting dodore?
Remember queues to get in the game?
No, AFTER they fixed the power-leveling version of it, the best way to get skill points on mages was cure spam, in this case AoE healing because it gave more chances to heal(each person could give skill points)
The power-leveling version was basically be a cluster of mages all spamming AoE cures for a couple hours then they were all 50. It was later nerfed but healing was still the best way to level mages
yeah they had some that did get banned over it. if they knew you had leveled up using that exploit they would confront you about it. if you admitted doing it they removed the ranks you had gained. if you denied it they banned your account. the problem was they had to be 100% sure that you had done it or they didn't do anything.
Sounds a bit odd, but it reminded me of the very first time I played FFXI. I was playing a Thief and my friend was some kind of healer/buffer class (dunno which one it was). Whilst i fought stuff he just kept healing and buffing me, when I asked what he was doing he just went "powerleveling". Dunno if he meant me or him though... either way it made the fights boring.
Do you remember people saying that Ul'dah would be a ghost city because noone liked the desert enviroment?

The scary things is how there's all these things everyone is mentioning that are no longer in a game that is literally just shy of a 1 year anniversary.
Lot of different stuff happened in a year O.o'
Do you remember when the day before retail release and we still didnt know if the game, a MMO being released on PC in 2010, would have hardware mouse?
Do you remember in closed/open beta when people were so sure we were playing a very old version of the game and we would have some completely new way more modern version at release?
Do you remember getting the email saying you would start being charged a monthly fee at the end of Nov. 2010. Do you remember how many people dropped their subscription the week of the email. Then do you remember SE realizing just HOW bad they had messed up and made the game free for the foreseeable future.
Do you remember when PS3 players were so disappointed they would have to wait all the way until the end of March 2011 to start playing?
Do you remember when Crafting support only lasted 5 minutes.
When 100 people were fighting to claim the very small amount of mobs in any area.
When Dodos and Goats used to stare through your soul
When the interface was so slow to sell anything quickly to npc's you had to choose items starting from the bottom of your inventory
When Silver rings sold for 80k a piece and Gemmed rings sold for 200k
When your retainer would dissapear from the wards at least once a day resulting in not selling anything
When you had to choose each ingredient individually when crafting resulting in maybe 2 crafts per 5 minute common support
I could go on :P
+1 vote to necro this thread next year and state the 'do you remember whens' of what we have now. :D
Remember your cautious optimism? Then your confusion and frustration? Followed by a short period of anger and distrust only to be replaced by cautious optimism once more?
When the damage on your armor was some ridiculous 6-digit number instead of a meter display of 0 to 100%
Kinda reminds me of armoured core, your health is determined by some enormous 7-8 digit number and there's no real way of making sense of how much damage you're taking or whether you're close to death or not. At least not untill the robot starts smoking and stuff starts falling off it. That's usually a bad sign for a robot.
Do you remember when marmots and cactuars were small?
Remember when they buffed SP gain to the insane levels?
I grinded 130k SP the day after that patch and hit maximum fatigue that week...
Which brings me to this: Do you remember when if you gained too much SP you would end up gaining absolutely NO SKILL POINTS from each kill.
When I was still levelling before 1.18 I was getting between 50-100k SP for 1-2 hours at BW so I was almost constantly fatigued.
I did. I remember quite a few people being banned because they didn't come forward and report themselves.
If you reported yourself though you just had your rank reduced.
Do you remember when the first wave of people hit rank 50 about 5~ weeks after launch then most of them quit because there was nothing to do except level another class?
In a few weeks I'll be able to come back to this thread and say:

I remember an sp glitch in alpha that made you hit fategue in 10 mins
I remember looking through the wards for gear was impossible because there was no search
I remember having no hardware mouse
I remember having no graphics options making lower end systems lag hugely (in alpha and possibly closed beta)
I remember loads of posts on forums about people stalking the mail man for thier CE
Need I go on
