And yet the male version will be modified to adjust to the female by hidding the chest, just like Kirimu coat, but the same in the opposite way seems against the law of physics for some reasons.

Have you ever seen the taffeta shawl or the Scylla dress? Flame elite hunt top? Some would say that those were designed for females. The top for this dress looks perfectly fine on males (they have boobs too ya know), where I've lightened the chest area is where his pectorals are under the fabric.
SE has given a LOT of gear with a bra type of thing that stay the same for male, one more would really won't be that noticeable. And we can say the same for the male gear, it's obviously made for male with an open vest, but they didn't mind to add and modify some details to make it suitable for females. I personally don't see it look good on a female character but why bother to do it in one way but not the other when it's clear there has been a lot of demands?

Hey this part that covers my breast doesn't make any sense but I still like it. Not like this wrap is offering any protection either.
The thing with fashion is it's filled with a ton of things that don't make sense. Doesn't stop people from wearing what they want though. It's all about freedom of expression. More options are always wonderful and I don't see why we should try to limit that. ^^
That dress looks gross imo.
male audiance got really upset that you could play as females, in new Fifa game. "damn those feminists for ruining everything"
i'm sure some ppl would quit over it, as some probably quit over same-gender eternal bonding.
they would need to re-tune every piece of gear, to fit males....for the few ppl that care about it=waste of money and time.
Just imagine for a second that top with the Dreadwyrm tonbans.
rip so many glamour possibilities.
The people arguing against this I've noticed are all female catgirls -- who wants to take bets a lot of them are men playing female characters who want to look at sexy waifus all day?
I'll never understand XIV's community...
"We're the nicest bunch ever, and we accept everyone!!! ...unless you want to put a dress on a male character. Then you're right out."
In WoW, no one judged the pixelbros.
idk.. if you wanna wear dresses and look pretty roll a female.. no one judges men for playing girl characters but imo this looks super silly. Do the males on tactics and ff11 gets to wear dresses? im pretty sure they have male equiv. gear. Such outrage over these things when us girls have been being put in metal bras and metal panties while men get full armor.
Skirts can be interpreted as a Kilt something used in a battle situation (i am part scottish and even have a family kilt i wear to celebrations.) so with the skirt it dosnt bother me (or a lot of others), and a lot of glamor is very creative with this skirt, to the point where the skirt becomes a lot more, when teamed up with other glamors.
this dress on the other hand... is much harder to say, from the artwork i have seen of a few roes wearing it and the elezen on page one, i find it dosnt look good on male characters. esp roes. , i cannot imagine it ever looking good due to the designs being one that fits itself (we have to see once hw comes out to see if it can become a skirt 2.0). not only this but.. frankly unlike the bunny thing where a male idea was easy of a bow tie and trousers.. the male equivalent IS the male equivalent trousers instead of leg wraps and a middle eastern style shirt for the top.
>...> even in wow i found the dresses didn't look good on the male characters esp the Tauren.
tho as i say to stop the fireballs from being shot at me, thats my opinion and view, if others want to wear whatever fine.. all i know is i keep finding roe's who wear the coeur briefs and bikini's anyway so whats a dress gonna do on top when i see a lot of bum.
((also to make it fair i don't think it looked that good on the fem lalafell, there looked like a TONNE of gaps between the set and the character making it look like it's floating.))
my post from earlier
While I agree with the ending part of your post, the beginning part is the same rhetoric that they use to justify that horrid armor. Seriously, just model a version of the darn dress for the boys in game.
Also on horrible girl armor, can we please get the DRG AF bellyhole fixed, I like the AF1 gear, but I'd prefer not to have a hole in my characters stomach because there was a hole in their armor :P
glad im not the only one that noticed this, I honestly couldn't care less about people who think that cross dressing is wrong, you're opinion on that matter really have nothing to do here, we're not asking the community if men in video have the right to wear a dress or not, we're showing our disapproval to the devs in hope of an answer of any kind.
Because I'd rather see OP's handsome elezen in that dress than having to support seeing so many female characters with ugly skimpy outfits everywhere I go in the game. There are so many dresses in this game already, allowing us to have one we actually like or a male version wouldn't break the game in any way.
I dont mind if the guys get a version they would jsut have to redo it abit, why would men want a cloth bra.. Skirts, kilts, speedos, bunny ears, these are all things that look good and fun to glamour, this is like asking for the bunny top and fishnets. sorry guys but master sex =female get on the change race train :P
with this being a jp game im really surprised there is any gender specific gear at all. I wish even the underwear weavers make could be worn on anyone. Im switching to AuRa but im gonna miss my super slut Highlander underwear. ( oh and stop feeding the trolls)
I did not really want to invest too much into this thread other than the like because I'm so tired, sickened, and disgusted by the slippery slope that is starting to trend with gender specific or semi-specific gear. It started out so beautifully at launch and stayed so for quite awhile, until things like the spring dress/sailor outfit started coming out and it's been going down that slippery slope ever since...
I do not want this game turning into another "Elin only"-fest when it comes to potential new glamors, granted that is an EXTREME case, but I'd rather my voice and the voice of others be heard now, rather than later when this kind of effect is already in place.
And to those who dislike the idea of seeing men in women's clothing. What would you say or even feel or think if I said "I'm sick of seeing women in men's clothing."
It works both ways you know. It's not right nor fair for women to have more glamor options than men characters inside this game. It's very unbalanced and if anything this game has been VERY balanced on many many issues and in game mechanics/content/etc. So if you people really don't want to see men in female clothing, it needs to be equal.
No more women in male clothing. It is only fair if that is the road we are meant to go down, otherwise open it up for both genders and not just one. That's all I have to say on the subject.
I don't even care if someone doesn't like cross-dressing, that's totally within their right to dislike just like it's within someones right to dislike any other subject that goes against societal norms. The problem arises when they want to prevent anyone else from doing it because, for some reason, their opinions supersedes another persons right to live their life how they wish (in a manner that, of course, harms no one else and thus impedes on THEIR right to live how they wish). I don't want to see a million catgirls in subligars, but I put up with it because they aren't my character.
To argue against someone else having something, when it in no way impacts your gameplay or takes anything away from you, is not only selfish but incredibly narrow minded. Grow up and accept that there are people out there who don't share your views on what is and isn't attractive.
I find it very funny that someone so judgmental is a male playing as a female catgirl , which is something that MANY people find wrong, and is crying out for hate. I'm done with this person, there is always one to ruin this sort of thread with aggressive and animosity to make it turn out badly and get locked.
Thank you again to OP to have take the time to make those picts and share them with us, you got style (y)
Edit; what I think of anyone's opinion who is close minded as this person when it comes about wearing what you enjoy, whether it be in a video game or not.

Bunny ears are one thing but wearing clothes that define a women on men? Gonna have to say nope and clap my hands for SE
Then a petition needs to be started for male clothing defining men as men, and take away the uni-sex application towards women characters having the ability to have that as an option for their characters. If needs to be equal and fair for everyone playing the game, not just more advantageous for female characters.
you know there was an attempt at a civil discussion on both sides until the little .. stiring of the crappot a few pages back. lets try to ignore that and try again, personal as i have said i am not a fan of this dress on guys i think it looks a bit ugly. i have a male alt who i wouldn't put that dress on, but. thats my opinion if others do want to wear it let them we have meny different glamours in the game, bikinis and if you dye some pieces right you could make assless chaps. so let them have there dresses if they want them.
I'm going to have to strongly disagree with you. I do not think women look as handsome, dapper, or as amazing in suits as men. Do I think women should be banned just because of my opinion of that from wearing suits? No.
But to keep equality truly equal on the premise you started out as earlier in the thread? Then I would have to say Yes! Because... no one likes double standards, and if you do, you're more than likely on the more comfortable side of said double standard. And by judging from your Avatar... you are... since you're female.
Again opinions. Yours it not the correct one, nor is mine. Because again we all will have varying different opinions. And I've honestly yet to see SE try to "sell sex" in their games. I mean really... I've yet to see it. Sure some promotional side things like special outfits you can get for games or your characters if you pre-order this, or buy a CE of that. But for the actual game and it's content? I'm not seeing it at all... not for FFXIV's sales pitch anyway....
But why, then, should we limit peoples right to dress creatively? Why argue for removing things? What does adding options for the people that want them take away from you? You will still be able to dress your character as feminine as you want, as others will be able to dress their ladies as masculine as they want (my wife wore the best man's suit to every wedding so far) and males will be able to dress how they want as well.
I don't have a problem with this but... something seems a little off with the artwork model. I think it may be the top, but I'm not 100% sure if that's what it is. If the gear was made to suit the males properly then I'm all for it otherwise. :o
Oh and I.. don't think I'd be too work up about girls being able to wear the other outfit unless there's an actual translation from a reliable source of the blog page (which there probably is one) or a picture but... with how SE has been running things a side of me wouldn't be at all shocked if it was true.
Edit: The artwork is well done but for some reason it looks awkward with the model's shape. I can't really put my finger on why but good job either way. ^^;
I think I found a good example of what I mean with the top looking a little off. So the artwork top to me.... looks a bit stretched out, no offense to the OP's artwork but I think the top should be made not so stretched out. It's not really covering anything, the Coliseum set has a similar top for males as far as it being a bit short... and it comes around like this.
without the shawl it looks like it'd be a little similar to the new outfit's body but... it's not really stretched. :x
I'm a man in real life by the way. Sex appeal doesn't always mean sex. It's how a character looks. The female mid lander has side boobs sticking out. The male has some type of muscle shirt on. Why aren't there super skinny characters or obese characters? Anyway the sex appeal is real if you don't want to believe it or not.
Any who I'm all for equality just close the spilt SE or make it smaller :p
Again clearly your opinion on that part though, I do not see it, as an actual selling point. I didn't mean actual sex, "sex appeal" "sex" I mean it in the same context as you, was just too lazy to type out "appeal". Any way, just because a character has "sideboob" as you so eloquently put it, does not mean it's a selling point for SE to sell the game for those people out there in the world sexually attracted to it. Again I think this is just solely your opinion, yes I've seen sex appeal sell quite well in the world for many things, including games, but for SE in one of their games? I do not see it at all...
I didn't ask for your irl sex? but ok! /thumbsupIsuppose
And that's how it should be, just keep it equal SE please. Either by giving or take it away, it needs to be equal.

Thank you GM!
Since my original post is now gone I'll post again!
I think this is a wonderful idea! Since we already have a skimpy skirt by way of the hunting marks with the immortal flames for male, I should think SE already has no problems with males wearing dancer-like skirts so modifying this design as the OP has done I think would work wonderfully and help make sure male characters don't feel left out should they want the girl outfit.
I support this.
Also, I think the top would maybe need to be a little bit longer for males? Not sure. But something does look a little off. ^^; But it's still a very good example of what it could look like if it was allowed.
The male version should just have a pendant that you wear around your neck and it could attach bangles to around your shoulders. The bottom part of the outfit the OP posted can stay the same. Men should be able to show more of their chest unlike female characters.
Oh good, I'm glad a GM came in and cleaned up that mess.
Men dressed skimpily is for people interested in that, as much as women dressed skimpily is for people interested in that. If it's not something that interests you, you don't need to utilize it, that's the point of glamour! UwU
I think if they changed the skirt up a bit, closed off the top some (or removed it, though I personally would prefer to keep it!) but kept the rest the same it would still be appropriate for males to wear while keeping the same aesthetic. I love how it looks, but I prefer a lot of the male options (voices and whatnot) so I don't want to change gender.
I think it looks great~ Though I do agree that something about the top is a little bit off. Personally I think maybe remove the wrap, and leave the necklace and add some fancy golden rings/bands around the arms or shoulders like the Coueurl Talisman has. I know odds are we'll never get to wear it but it's fun to dream right?
Also I hope the ladies wearing the male set has some slight variations as well. Maybe they stop slightly higher and the vest is style a little differently. Something a little more flattering.
