I'm getting the impression that the new healer will be a bit of a hybrid between scholar and WHM aside from the random card buff system... thing. Honestly, I enjoy playing just a straight-up healer with no special gimmicks, so I think I'll stick with WHM.
-
I'm definitely sticking with my main as smn/blm. I really like what they are doing to those 2 jobs. Doesn't mean I won't try the new jobs. Just I've tried to change my main before and I seem to keep coming back to it.
-
been DRG this whole time, but i think i'm going to do DRK to start tanking. I've been leveling Warrior and Paladin on the side to build up a good library of cross-skills.
-
Leaving BLM for AST. I don't realy like current jobs, I just went BLM because that's the one I hate the less lol. I usually love bards but there is none in FFXIV, there's just an archer playing some lame 0.5 seconds music. So I was waiting for a card job ( or a geomancer or a gambler ). Hope it won't be one more disappointment :)
-
I switched to Ninja main when it came out because it seemed more interesting than Dragoon. Now that Dragoon is finally getting a 4th combo finisher, I will be switching back. Back in 1.0, Dragoon was FFXIV's version of FFXI's Samurai in my eyes and it should have had longer combos from the beginning.
I am really impressed with the added complexity to all the jobs. They didn't just say "Here, take this new, flashy move that does more damage." I know I don't have hands on experience yet, but the descriptions make me think they will change the way most of the jobs play in dynamic ways.
-
I've been playing around with the idea of bouncing between AST and SCH for mains with SMN/MCN secondary but I need to see all of them at work and see if AST gets mega heavy pressure for being a buffer or not before I decide anything official. Also the reload thing on MCN worries me a little but if it's like Aetherflow where you get a stack a minute and there isnt like 30 skills that require bullets Id be fine with it.
-
I came back spefically for DRK...and cause I never meant to leave to begin with but yeah I remembered how natural blm feels to me. I love the class and the amount of theorycrafting I put into everything about BLM along with what I've learned about the class is no joke so at this time I'm second guessing my decision to play DRK. The only thing that can completely sway me to DRK at this point is whether they'll be completely destructive in pvp or not and whether I will enjoy them while I level mine.
If yes to the above 2 then DRK it is
-
I originally was quite appalled by the whole Enochian system and was going to change, but I'm holding opinions until they release before I make my decision to swap to another, unknown job atm.
-
Hmmmm. So far it looks like there's a pretty even spread of interest among all the new jobs, as well as lots of people staying loyal to their current one, which makes me happy to see.
It might be a bit selfish of me, but I kind of hope Astrologian has a high skill floor so that it's a.) more interesting to me than it already is, and b.) so that it's not overplayed. >__> Right now it seems to be the most popular of the three new jobs, though I admit that the forums aren't the be-all end-all of player preference.
-
Might swap from bard to summoner or machinist, and dabble in healing with white mage. Astrologian doesn't interest me very much and tanking I haven't yet tried.
-
I really like the sound of what the've done with Bard, so i think I'll be sticking to it for Heavensward.
For MCN, it depends if it can support as well as Bard, and if it can, can it pull better DPS - then I'll consider changing to it.
-
I was thinking on it - but feel like I will stick with Scholar - I've fallen in love with the class too much.
My 2nd class may change though depending on how the changes to bard feel :3
-
I'll be sticking with Summoner as my main I should think I've spent way to much time getting her geared up and still haven't even finished.
I might make a Astrologist as my 2nd main class though, loving the idea of the cards xD
-
I have a soft spot for great sword, darkness appeals me and I always liked every Dark Knight in FF but I'll not follow blindly, I'm main WHM now and I like it, all my friends are happy when I'm the healer and as completely opposed as it looks like I feel myself fit as both WHM and DRK. So I'll try DRK, if I "feel it mine" I'll think about maining it or keeping a double main. What could get me off the idea a bit is if DRK will be overly popular but I may get used to it in the end!
-
Im sure no one will read this post.
But my Mains:
Tank: Probably switching to DRK.
Healing: Sticking with WHM.
Melee: Monk.
Range: Since I like none of the current Ranged classes, I'll prolly hit up Machinist for this role.
As for primary role, right now its Healing.... If I switch to one of the others, it'll depend on how much fun I have playing them.
-
I will totally test AST, but I love my SCH and the update it is getting, so I probably won't switch my main, but who knows.
-
Probs gonna main MCH, I like playing as ranged but I don't like casters, so I hope I will like MCH so I could finally main something else than BRD x__x
-
As for me, I would say I main SCH.. but who the heckie doesn't want to make macros like "IT'S TIME TO D-D-D-DUEL." or summon their persona. Nah but for realsies AST seems like just the job for me. As for my main DPS, staying SMN I really like the new info regarding them and I'm really interested in continuing with it. And for my tank.. PLD yayyy
-
I'm gonna stay Smn/blm/whm, but depending on how much i like astrologian, I might use that as my 4th job on my main character.
My Lalafellin will try Dark knight and then see wether I prefer it to paladin
And my soon to be au ra will main machinist.
Can't wait for the exp!
-
I'm looking at possibly switching to Astro as "main" job but I would have to the term loosely. I don't really have a main per say. Mostly would say that my main "class' type is healer. I love playing healers so I'm sure the new Astro job will work right in there with Whm/sch depending on my mood =3
-
I'm always going to be a Blacksmith at heart, and I'm always gonna be the best one. That's just something I can't change.
Wait, battle classes? I'm keeping monk as my melee, I might swap Black Mage for Machinist depending on it's playstyle- whichever one is more comfortable. Black Mage is nice and has a lot of hidden nuances under it's simple playstyle, but I felt it's main rotations are too bland damage-only stuff. Of course, that might change with Enochian too. We'll see.
But seriously, Blacksmith comes first. All you dudes wanting big honkin' swords? Someone's got to make them.
-
Seems with astrologian being the big must play job dps queues should be faster then healer now.
-
I changed from PLD to DRG a couple of weeks ago to join my FCs Raidgroup. So it was like semi-change for Heavensward. I'm gonna continue the DRG-path as my new main, while keeping PLD as my alt for easy roulette joins.
However, with Heavensward I'm gonna change from Female Miqo'te to Male Au Ra. Some fresh air at least.
-
I enjoy summoner. I am going to most likely stay that. Right now I'm just SMN / WHM. I got bard buffed for 3.0 in case it did more support role, doesn't seem to be the case.
In the previous FF online game I enjoyed jobs that could perform multiple tasks (SCH, SMN, PUP) but also really enjoyed party buffing from BRD, so AST speaks to me a bit.
What will let me switch to AST is the amount of hounding a healer will get to give certain buffs. I don't like being told exactly what to do for no reason. When I would use buffs in the other games, I like to know exactly why sometimes but that's only in an End game scenario. There were times when it was wrong on my part and I adjusted, others because they were use to it and felt they needed it. In reality it did nothing for them but make them mentally stable. I understand for some raids that having some buffs in a certain order can help a lot, maybe the ability reduction might let some very potent dps abilities cool down just in time for a DPS check. Just in time for me to give an attack boost
-
I don't plan on giving up PLD as my main, but I do plan on giving MCN a try. Maybe AST, as well.
-
Well ill definitely be changing into something. I was a BRD at release but wasnt a fan of the court jester look and was kinda bored with the gameplay so I switched to MNK on a new server after a long hiatus but im over the whole dancing around mobs thing.
Anyway im mostly interested in the DRK but ill have to try it out first to be sure. Otherwise Machinist sounds interesting even though it looks kinda 'meh' during the class video. Hell, even some of the old classes are looking interesting now. PLD has got my attention again with the new moves and DPS combos. Even BRD is looking better now with its new 'caster' mode and DPS LB. Not to mention BLM which I recently got into and loving those sweet sweet damage numbers.
-
Well my main is dps but I'm not interested in mechanist so my main will stay BLM/SMN (as long as they keep sharing gear; if they get different gear I'll probably stay with blm). I will definitely be trying out astrologian and dark knight, though.
-
Depends if i like AST healing, right now im confident with a whm and i love using it more then a sch, so its a 50/50 and id probally stick with WHM but AST does have those fancy orb wep things.
-
I'm expected to play DRG/MNK for HW, so it's likely I won't change my main. (Currently DRG, though I'm equally comfortable with MNK and I have the Zeta for both.)
-
Well... depends. I love my NIN a lot, but I'm still waiting to see the changes to the skills to see if I keep playing NIN or not, most likely I'll change to DRK and Astrologian.
-
Short answer: No. For all 3 of the job roles in this game. I'll very likely be sticking to PLD for Tanking, SCH for Healing, and DRG and SMN for DPS. I especially love what I'm seeing for upgrades to PLD and SMN. However, I'll play as any job in this game, as those were just my top favorites among what I listed for Tanking, Healing, and DPS. So yes, I'll be grabbing the 3 new jobs and leveling them too with all my others to 60.
Heck, it wouldn't surprise me if DRK became my second go to Tank over WAR as I level it up, especially considering the fact that I'm liking the way DRK is turning out for tanking... along with being the one Tank among the 3 to have a "I'M ALREADY ON TOP OF YOU!" charge/leaping attack.
-
As with SMN and ROG/NIN I really want to play the new jobs but I know the market of them will be saturated for the first while. I will use my current main (WAR Tank) to complete the MSQ and unlock all there is in HW then once the craze calms down, I will pick each of the new jobs up and see which one I like best. But you can bet I will be making a glamor set for my DRK with the Advent Children Soldier Gear and I might use that for my AFK outfit in towns.
-
Maybe.
Going to try out DRK and see how it feels. I really like the animations and effects for their abilities but it will all come down to mechanics and play style. If I like it DRK will be my main with PLD (current main) my secondary tank.
MNK will still be my main DPS (most fun dps IMO).
For healer, I will have to see what AST is like or I will just stick to WHM.
-
SMN will remain my "main" main. I will be switching my go-to healer from SCH to AST. WAR will continue to be my go-to tanking option and depending on how it plays out I might switch my physical damage option from MNK to MCN.
-
Switching from NIN main to DRK main. Because greatsword.
-
Nope. Played all jobs in 1.23 coz they were all fun...but always waited for SMN. Since smn release in 2.0 I stick with it thru good and bad :)
-
Nah sticking with Ninja because that's what I'm good at. Might level a DRK tho. Prob after the hype dies down.
-
Smn all the way, babe. I am going to lvl the new jobs and see how they work, but i dont see myself switching my main for any of the new jobs.
-
Main, Maybe... to a new job not likely unless they are over powered. But that will get changed quickly.
-
I was waiting to change my main to SMN for heavensward, but i jumped the gun that so i could get more familiar with it.
I'll probably be changing my main healer from Scholar to Astrologian because of their versatility in raid environments. If there's a scholar in a raid, i can go for pure healer stance, if there's a WHM in the group, i can go for shield stance.
