Most Amusing Dungeon Stories?

My most amusing story, Dragoon tanking the entirety of Qarn (HM), the tank dropped out at the beginning of the dungeon leaving us with just the two DD and Healer, decided to kill the fodder mobs while we waited for a new tank, got to the first boss, no tank, said what the hell let's try this, ended up clearing the dungeon with no tank (we wiped a couple times on some of the bosses like the cactuar...my god the cactuar...) Took awhile to clear the dungeon but since we never had a tank jump in it was fine.

Also side note: it appears to be a trend for tanks to be "checked-out" while in the DF...I find this odd, and a little alarming.

While Tanking once in a dungeon....

someone was complaining I wasn't tanking the way they would have tanked and kept going on and on about that I should Tank Better by tanking more than 4 mobs at once and how he could tank better than me if he was a Tank.

Then I ask then why aren't you playing as a Tank if you think you're a good tank?

and the person replied

because I don't want to play as a Tank because he hates how people treats him as a Tank.

Then I tell him you're doing exactly that to me as well.

Then he said it was because I suck as a Tank for not speed running the dungeon since he wanted to get the roulette fast.

Then I told him I'm not geared enough to speed run the dungeon properly yet and that if he wanted a speed run group he should have formed a group himself for Expert Roulette that would speed run.

Then the guy checked my gear and complained about how I'm not ilvl 120 tank (I was only around ilvl 100 during this time due to starting to gear up my tank gear) and how I shouldn't be playing a tank because I was not geared enough to his standards.

then he went on about how his Endgame friends could tank while keeping aggro in a fully geared ilvl 130 endgame raid group and stuff and had me vote kicked from the group.

Bear in mind I have ran Qarn normal like...fifteen times.

This morning, I did a run with a couple of guildies, and somehow I forgot all four of the tablets by the last boss :L I was like "How does this even happen..." and walked back to get them.

This happened sometime ago but I was running halatali on my alt, lvling up LNC. There was marauder, arcanist and conjurer. For some reason arcanist and marauder started fighting, I wasn't really paying attention why but wild guess it had something to do with holding hate. Marauder got really salty, refused to keep going and tried to vote kick arcanist. Rest of us decided to just keep going without him, while he was bitching to us in party chat. When we finally got the dungeon done he announcent that he's reporting us all, arc cause they had disargeement and me and healer cause we let all that happen.

We let all...what happen? I never got my answer to that. :D

If the ARN was using Tank carbuncle then the tank was within his right to tell the (not ask) to use the DPS one, if they refuse then there playing the class wrong by not putting out as much dmg as they can (tank Carby does less), when its something as simple as switching out a pet that is not being elitist. All that being said if he was good enough tank carbuncle should not have been getting any threat, which would have also backed him up when he told the ARN to switch pet.

The only time its ok to use a tank pet is if the tank asks or they are bad. As for how he handled it I was not there if it was me I would 1 stop tanking if the ARN refused to switch,2 just leave 30 mins for me means nothing i can go watch Youtube etc. Just in case this sounds like i'm on the Ahole side of tanks. I don't leave low level groups, I don't force a pace that said group cannot handle, etc. But tanking for 10 years I stand by the oldschool tanking code, so in this case you rat is not the tank when i used to see tank carbuncles while I am here

Like I said, it happened some time ago, can't remember excatly what happened between arc or tank.

Heck I didn't even remember whole thing until I came across this and thought I'd share my giggles.

I've had a few amusing runs and a few frustrating ones. I'd rather focus on the amusing ones!

A long long time ago (in a galaxy far away) I was doing Cutter's Cry. I was tanking on WAR and up until this point had never heard of the "Healer runs the adds" strategy for the ant queen. I was not made aware that this strategy was going to happen. My only warning? I was told to YouTube "Yakkity Sax" (that's the Benny Hill theme, for those of you who didn't know) and let it play during the dungeon. Both myself and my partner (Barding at the time) laughed our asses off as the healer ran the mobs around while we murdered the queen. Was a fantastic way to be brought into the loop of the fun way to down that boss.

Another time I was going through Qarn with an FC group and all but the tank were experienced with it. The tank mentioned that she liked learning dungeons and not being spoiled so we decided "Sure! Let's do this blind-tank." We didn't tell her a thing about any of the encounters. When we got to the second boss (the Golem that ignores hate) I nearly died laughing every time I saw her try and Provoke the boss and then post confused comments into party chat. We didn't wipe a single time throughout the run but that second boss was absolutely hilarious. (And to assuage worries we were being mean to the tank, she was aware that we were withholding the strats to the bosses and was okay with it)

Lvling my last job I got Cutter's for roulette on ninja. Had a pld, brd and a sch. Pretty normal stuff. Get past the first boss and noticed the pld dc'ing. The rest of us stand there waiting and the tank goes offline. So we stand there. After a few min sch asks if anyone was partied with him; no one was, and we wait a few more min.

I said "Lets go kill stuff while waiting these aren't too tough." They say "sure" and I go pull mobs. It's interesting tanking as a ninja! We make it to the worm and decide to kick the tank. Waited a little while. Asked if it was okay to just try it while waiting. "What's the worse that's gonna happen? We wipe? lol" they agreed and in I go grabbing hate. To my surprise we did well! I held hate from the brd and the sch and we take it down like we had a full group.

Still no tank.

So we proceed in this fashion going thru the dgn with no tank and end up at chimera. No tank came in yet. Sch asks, "Think we can do this?" I replied, "Idk I've tanked this guy before he can hit hard." Both agreed and we pause for a moment. Now I've done this fight I can't count how many times. And tanking him isn't really tough as long as you can dodge. I mulled it over and decided. "Wth, here goes nothing!" And in I went. Just as I predicted the fight isn't bad if you can dodge every AoE which I did. I maintained hate from the sch and brd and we were taking Chimera down really well.

10% from death. Tank pops. "omg...." Other 2 "LOL" Sch said "Congrats on a free cutter dgn!" Tank only said "Done this 10 times now and no card." He's at the gate just watching of course. We kill Chimera! Tank "no card again" and disappears. I look at the other two "Awesome work! This was fun! 3 man isn't bad with excellent players!" Similar comments and bowing take place.

Then they said they got a card lol.
So did I! lmao

I was running Tam-Tara HM with two friends of mine, but we were all on alt jobs (mixing it up a bit to keep from being so bored while grinding for Zodiac drops). I was on SCH and a friend was on PLD; the other person was a BLM. We queue in DF and get a random BLM in the party with us. Gear checks out as pretty good, so we start speed pulling. The part up to the first boss goes great. When we get to the second big pull (the hallway with all the Dantalion in rooms off to the side), the BLM goes ahead and starts pulling mobs as I'm throwing Stoneskin and Adloquium on the tank. We do the pull and the PLD asks the random BLM not to facepull. He replies "I wasn't facepulling, you just need to learn how to tank." I guess he didn't want me to buff the tank for a pull?

The three of us were in voice chat together (we usually are) and were all pretty incredulous as to this guy's sudden douchery. He hadn't said a word up till then about the tanking. We basically looked sidewise at each other, smiled, then vote dismissed him. The best part was, we got another BLM that had better gear and a much better attitude. Hope that dude enjoyed his fast track back into the solo DPS queue. :3

AK HM on summoner, second boss. I don't remember that the exact sequence of events, only that everyone else died and the tank and other dps released because they forgot summoner has a raise (which I'd used on the healer). So I ended up summoning Titan-Egi and the two of us finished the fight. Felt pretty awesome but at the same time I realized it would have just been faster to wipe and start over with a full party.

Hmm. Had another one a few days ago in Halatali HM. I was grinding Nexus light/Zodiac drops for my Warrior and ended up with a party of mid/average geared people. I wasn't paying attention (listening to music and chatting in FC chat, derp) and ran off on a speed pull without gear checking. Oops. We wipe, I laugh at myself and apologize, and we continue with smaller pulls. Everything goes great until the first boss... when the other three people die to 100 Tonze Swing. I think to myself that I can either wipe and reset, or I can try to solo it. Wiping and resetting would've been faster, but definitely not nearly as fun. Warrior has enough self heals that I was able to pull it off (STR gear helps too!). Not gonna lie, I felt like a boss. :3

So long ago, but you totally reminded me of the time I entered what I think was Darkhold (it's been a while) via joining in progress... apparently there were two BLMs and the healer and tank had apparently checked out and left, leaving it as one healer (me) and two BLMs. Joined up with them in the middle of the dungeon, wondering why these two BLMs were here by themselves.... were they super bad? Trolls? Or were the tank/healer trolls... or totally innocent and just had to leave? *Shifty eyes of suspicion* Luckily it didn't seem to be the case as the two were perfectly fine. We stood around along the cliffs for a while (that's all I particularly remember of the dungeon... cliffs + a toad), waiting for a tank, before deciding we should just try moving forward. Not like we're losing anything at this point.

So three squishies tanking our way through. It wasn't pretty, but it we got through to the boss room before a tank arrived (Seem to have luck with tanks appearing for bosses o_O)

Tried Satasha as a Conjurer for the first time, I noticed that our Gladiator had less HP than everyone else and didn't have shield lob, I tried to keep them healed but I decided it wasn't worth trying so I abandoned.
Before I click abandon, the gladiator dies mentioning that I "have full mp"...of course I had full mp, they died so quickly I didn't even get the chance to use it.

I looked them up on the lodestone afterwards and noticed they were in Item lv.10 gear and below with no accessories equipped at all, funny thing is they had a lv.50 lancer and a lv.34 healer.

For my first run against Titan, I joined a run in-progress as ACN. When I spawned, I only had a femMiqo'te THM next to me and another player who timed-out. After vote kicking the other guy, she and I decided to just chat for a while until we had a full party again. A Miqo'te CNJ joined some time after so I still had hope of finishing the duty.

Once ten minutes were left on the clock, we got the alert that no new players would join the instance. With no other options left, I whipped out my Topaz Carb and told my other two partymates to go into last stand mode. In all three tries, we managed to get Titan down to ~70% health before getting wiped (the CNJ had troubles dodging the knockbacks) and failing the duty miserably. Still, they kept a pretty upbeat attitude and were willing to go along with my impromptu tank.

I came out of that duty with newfound respect and fondness towards my Carbuncles. Little buggers had a lot more in them than I thought.

Probably my most amusing dungeon run is when a pal and I DF'd our first Moogle HM run as SCH and WHM. Wiped the first, but the second...for some reason every DPS dropped not long after the main fight started. So it was just two Healers and two Tanks who ended up finishing the run.

Just did Moogle HM with a group. Had some new people in it. Marked the moogles in order BLM > WHM > BRD > WAR and this guy goes total anal mode. Says to mark the THF and not the WAR. First run wipe. 1 due to the WAR's AoE move that can 1 shot players (specially new ones) and then full wipe to the Kings Memento. Next run I go along with the now raging person who is trying to insult me by doing what a middle schooler does lol. So I go along with his plan of let the war live. Almost another full wipe. WAR does his AoE and kills 3 people. OT dies. WAR is roaming free around. Does AoE again and almost wipes the party before king dies. So apparently I was the one in the wrong because we barely pulled off a win. When killing the WAR 4th instead of the one that just runs around aimlessly and drops a puddle of poison was more of a threat than the one that does a massive AoE that can 1 shot players xD would have meant 0 deaths and people dying lol.

Sometimes after an interesting dungeon run, I'll use the PS4 button to save a video of the preceding 15 min of game play to the hard drive. Below is the actual dialogue I've just transcribed from the first/only time I've initiated a vote dismiss for a player for reasons other than AFK/online. This was in Haukke story mode, when I was levelling Conjurer after we had wiped on the final boss when the adds were all out, Thaumaturge had used LB1 at not quite the right time, and for whatever reason we wiped. My advice below is a bit clumsy because I was typing real fast so as not to hold things up... this was like no more than 20 seconds of discussion as we were returning up the stairs after reviving.

Lancer- Should have let it go to a second full bar then let me lb2
Lancer- Would have killed the boss and we wouldn't have wiped
Me- There's 2 ways to do it
Me- It's good to use all 2 lb's if we can
Me- One way is single target lb the boss or mage multitarget all the sisters
Me- We'll get it this time
Thaumaturge- First time
Me- It's not a problem
Lancer- dude archer just stfu
Me- Initiate vote dismiss -> lancer -> reason = harrassment
Lancer- lets get this dungeon over with
Lancer- <poof!>
A PARTY MEMBER HAS BEEN DISMISSED
Warrior- looks like it's over <Lancer's first name>
Warrior- performs Manderville

Moral of the story- It's really not a good idea to tell me to stfu for taking 15 seconds to help another new player out as we are returning to the final boss fight in a dungeon. If I had been sitting there typing during the fight where we wiped or was holding up our next attempt, they might have had a point but this came out of nowhere.

Just recently a few minutes ago, I had a WoD run where Alliances B and C spent more time bickering with each other than actually getting things done. Alliance A, the one I was on, was the only patient group and we were all shaking our heads at the other 2 alliances in party chat.

Naturally, since they were too busy bickering with each other, we wiped every time to the first boss, and had trouble against the first trash pull. Dungeon abandoned. And we of Alliance A were just simply trying to clear the fight... >_<

Not sure if this counts as "amusing" but depending on your outlook, it could be, lol. My poor Miqo'te MNK though...

I wonder if this counts as amusing. I can at least laugh about it now. xD

I cued into WoD one time as bard looking for the coveted Bard chest.
Saw one Warrior. Two White Mages, Another Bard, A Dragoon and a Monk.
Thought it was going to be another boring WoD run. Boy was I wrong.
So we get to the first set of trash. Warrior Tank runs in, I look away to check something for maybe half a second and turn back to see he's dead.
Okay.. minor setback I'm thinking. Next Monk dies to something. The healer quickly rezes the Monk. This happens FOUR times during the trash. I counted. We managed to kill the trash after a long period of time. I thought the Monk was just unlucky.

We get to the first boss. Monk proceeds to die to doom about 3 times in a row.
Dragoon gets doom, dies with the monk. (This being the Monk's 4th time now.)
I'm thinking "I'm in hell."
My entire party got Doom after that. That scene was unreal. Just Doom hitting your entire alliance. I can't remember if anyone died that time. Looked over at the monk and saw she had weakness but I didn't see her rez. Unless she got raise and rezed quickly. I wasn't paying attention to her at that time but I don't think she had it before.

So we kill the boss..eventually and get to the next set of trash. My entire alliance leaves. The Tank, The two Healers and all the DPS but me.
I just stood there with a "WTF" look on my face. I was about to leave but my party quickly filled back up and I got through the instance.
Oh and the kicker. No bard chest. 5 head Dragon drops a belt.

At least my run wasn't boring. xD

Not a dungeon but still amusing

I entered Ifrit Hard Mode trying to get my weapon drop for the 50th time when I saw that the other paladin had about 3000hp less than me.
He doesn't do a ready check and just rushes in, so I immediately go into "not a chance in hell" mode and take the aggro from him before he gets us all killed.
The paladin fights me for aggro the entire fight (does a horrible job of it) while standing right next to me and refused to respond to chat or attack the nails.
According to the lodestone he still had lv.35-40 accessories equipped.

Ran Quarn HM with a SCH who refused to use Aetherflow when I asked why they told me they were more than capable of healing without it and demanded I do small pulls to accommodate them. Realizing I was dealing with someone beyond mental reasoning or one helluva troll I said either the SCH goes or me and they kicked me. All I could do was laugh and re-queue getting the same dungeon in less than a min this time with a more reliable sch.

T1 starts. Scholar 'I am a battle mage, I don't heal ~~~'

I was on my monk alt and my friend was a dragoon and we decided to have a bet on who will die more in Sycrus. Our friends were healing. The rest of the party was entertained as we proceeded to discuss how he was clicking off his buffs and how it is not smart to challenge a dragoon to a death off since that was his specialty. He ended up winning with 12 deaths to my 7 xD Sometimes my friends would stop rezzing him, but then another alliance healer would get him, as they were unaware of what was going on.

Once met a dragoon in wanderers palace who kept making funny jokes and puns throughout the instance and then revealed at the end that he was fishing for commendations, since he wasnt a tank or a healer so his humor was the only thing going for him. I did give him a comm xD

Tam tara NM. The tank in all ironworks loads in, gets mad at the healer using medica and storms off after insults of 'newb' variety. I was leveling my lnc, but I play healer most often so I explain in and outs of healing and rest of the run goes smoothly with me tanking. Oh the horrors, new people in low level dungeons.

A little while ago I was farming lights for my axe when Mog HM was bright.
So, I'm really close to 2k lights and I decide that Mog HM was good- especially since most people are over geared for it. Heck, if I was lucky I'd get some of the weapons for desyth!

So I zone in, most of the group is really friendly. The other tank, a pld, doesn't even bother greeting the group.
I ask if she/he would prefer the moogles or the tank- no answer.
I just assume that since they're too cool to talk, they're too cool for the pleb moogles so I grab them.
The dps go ham on the moogles and we kill them stupidly quickly.
However, the last of the moogles dies just as I tic up to x5 stacks of wrath.
So as we're waiting for the moogles to dance the pld decides to tell me that I must be a very confused person since I'm sitting on x5 stacks of wrath and all in all I should lrn2war.
So the moogles finish their dance and the fight continues. We clear the fight with no problems and the pld starts in again criticizing my tanking because of my earlier x5 stacks of wrath and the like.
I told her/him to get an attitude adjustment and left. ~_~;;

That's funny. I try to have 5 stacks of wrath going into that phase so can SC the hell out of the small moogles and drag the GLD/MRD off to the side. It's certainly easier than clicking and using tomahawk on each. Let's face it, SC is more fun than that anyway. I actually just spend the first phase out of Defiance, then turn it on and Infuriate, but whatever floats your boat. As long as fuzzballs die, it doesn't really matter. :3

At the end of the run, I got no comm.

See, here's the thing. I was accused of being rude / mean to new people earlier while tanking.

At first, I was asking what was wrong with a DPS (ARC) who had their topaz out. Another person said, "Hey, they might be new." I replied, "Okay. Hey, ARC, you shouldn't have your topaz carbuncle out because it takes aggro away from me." No reply. Just continued doing so. He got even more brave. He began pulling for me.

I was not happy. The healer began focusing on healing that carbuncle over me and I asked what the healer was doing. I was being let drop to one-third of my health in a lot of cases, despite holding four mobs at once.

I got further sick of this. I stopped and let the ARC run in and pull a boss (and adds) as he was so inclined. I sat back, watched, and smiled as the Topaz Carbuncle died, the ARC died, the healer died, and I came in, grabbed aggro back, duo'd the boss with a rogue, and succeeded.

They did not learn their lesson, nor did they talk in party chat. They did so again until I attempted to kick the ARC. The healer and the ARC left. Killed off a bit more dungeon with the Ninja, got an archer, and then a competent healer. Rest of the dungeon went off without a hitch.

I guess I'm the noob in this story but I ahem...

Let's just say no hate was grabbed nor maintained that day except from the df players.

had 2 bards in AK the other week, me on scholar,
so i stoneskin everyone and
"okay bards, mini game! first one to loose their stoneskin is a rotten egg!" says me
this run was brilliant, we had so much back and fourth banter, laughing and joking and emoting.
the stoneskin mini game went to a best out of 3 in the end.

It's not always about runs that go horribly wrong, sometimes just bring a little fun into it.

Just a few hours ago, I have a "amusing" stories.

Me, as a Bard, currently leveling and join Low Level Roulette and got Totorak. Our party have tank, that NEVER use his aggro skill (like Flash, Shield Lob). So I instead become tank by draw all aggro to me and the healer focus healing on me. Fortunately the THM put sleep to some enemy so I didn't take much damage.

The other day, running Syrcus Tower, there was a bard that used repelling shot just as the barrier went up and got locked out. We all had a good laugh about it.

Backstory:
LotA is my favorite content. There's always something ridiculous or hilarious going on. I have every fight macroed out and use them when I see the Virgin Bonus. (Macros for the trash mobs too :X) Last boss - regardless of warnings - people still don't manage to get on the pads in time... Lately - after giving solid advice through out the raid - I started telling players to "Just zerg" Archeron... Reverse psychology works better than anything else.... ususally :X
