No one is asking you to buy CE.

I personally never collect box CEs but I am definitly paying 59.99 for the digital. Thats actually really cheap. I have seen digital CE on other MMOs go for quite a bit more just for digital. Thanks SE :D
What's worse in all this, Steam players can't even get a physical copy because it won't be able to be redeemed unless purchased through steam. ;_;
I don't understand the argument -
It's priced just right for the people who feel it's worth it. Players who think they can justify 130$ on buying it will buy it, those who can't will get the Digital CE or the Standard. I mean I see people buy stuff for specific prices, and I feel it's a waste of money but that's just my opinion and I don't have the right to complain about how they spend their money. My husband once bought a collectors soundtrack for 50$ and I thought he was nuts, but it was worth it to him. It just depends on the person, and SE know people are willing to spend it; and people are. Personally, I thought they were gonna be worse about it and set it between 150-200$ US, so I was surprised it was 20$ less than my low ball.
That said -
UK people are getting kinda pushed over... It should really be balanced to where if we are spending 130$ + shipping here, they should spend 130$ + shipping (which might be different depending on shipping rules around the word) equivalent. But they are paying, what 130£ which is 63$ more than us in the US. That isn't fair, they should really only be paying 89£ + shipping (for said area) to make closer to fair. I don't know the base price for everyone else, but one of my friends in the UK told me about this.
But if SE is gonna change 130$ make it as close to fair in all countries with the currency used in that region.
OP wants free stuff.
I really wonder what games people are used to paying that these expansions are considered expensive, I consider the only thing normally priced is the digital CE. I thought the physical Standard and Collector's Edition (Not for EU), were under priced and a bargain
I'm actually pleased how much cheaper the prices of Heavensward are compared to the norm. Saving money is always nice
Thats about average for an expansion.
I spent 40 dollars on lunch. (Sushi)
Which took me about 15 minutes to eat.
Going to an Imax movie here is like 23 dollars a ticket, for a 2 hour movie.
I will play this game for hundreds if not thousands of hours over a year or two.
Its crazy cheap entertainment.
yeah, even if they were to release an expac every year as they claim (they want to anyway), that would be $40 over a year, so $3.5 per month. Add the sub, $15 on average or so (I won't bother to do the exact math so it's grossly exaggerated)
$15 a month is nothing. There are plenty of ways to save that sum, even if you aren't having a super paid job.
Frankly the money I've saved every month on 6 month sub discount + Legacy pricing has already paid for the expansion for me.
OP is complaining about 130$ price tag.
The country just above yours (Canada) pays 170$+tax. That's a 195$ CE, right there.
And you know what? :v Some people will buy it anyway. \o/
Seriously, though. I've seen games with less content with CEs going for 180$ US. This isn't so bad, considering you're supposed to be encouraging a game you'll be enjoying for years to come. :v
I thought $130 was expensive and the +10 for shipping. I don't think I payed that much for a game ever. But I wanted the dragon statue. I kind of regret ordering it now though. Wish it was closer to $99 or so.
Mainly you are paying for the extras if you wanted only the game then it be $60.
Every time I read someone say this statement, I have to say, it makes me laugh. Yeah you pay a sub. And? What a gold star? Subscription fees entitle you to current version updates and access to server, not future content segments. Want Heavensward without the 129.99 price tag, guess what? There's a $40 option with none of the extras. Want the in game extras? There's a $60 option for that too. Your sub has nothing to do with either of those.
Value is in the beholder. Some would place value on digital items quite easily, because having them gives them a sense of satisfaction, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Im Canadian, The price doesn't bother me for the expansion, Gamestop/EB is sold out and the Square-Enix store wants $38.99USD to SHIP to Canada. THAT is highway robbery and why I can't get it yet. Still looking for ways. And no we cannot use Amazon.ca even if it does pop up on there, Youll never get it. They will take 500 orders, get 50, and cancel your order, they do it with every game you pre order
don't like the price tag? Don't buy it. It will come down in 6 months and more in year. If the price is that offensive vote with your wallet.
If you think that is bad you should have seen diablo III reaper of souls now that was really a ripoff
I hate to say this but you can go to a bank and withdraw whatever money you have in your account however with the ingame items you can't withdraw them and make them real so the whole bank account comparison goes down the hole there.
Btw I don't think $130 is a bad price for the physical items you get. The dragon statue is as even Yoshi-p said was a high quality statue and quite honestly it would be almost about the same if you bought items from the Disney Store. IE i bought my mother who loves Tinkerbell a glass statue for about $19 dollars at christmas time and it's not even two inches in height.
i live in mexico and i will pay 60 usd for digital CE, and I think is cheap, I want a physical CE but i dont want to pay shipping xD
A £45 game these days lasts....7 hours?
A £29 expansion to FFXIV is going to last me a year and a half.
Bargin.
If people complaint so much, they could wait a few months, and price would go down to $19.99-29.99 on standard edition - Amazon does plenty of sales and Black Friday is only 5 months later - to which you could get 2 patches which will be great value for your bottom dollars. If you want in NOW, pay full price like everyone else.
