Im hopeful too the, wonderful world of code is hard to learn. and also a nightmare when it comes to the case sesetivity :S

Didn't we start a war so we didn't have to pay more money to the people across the pond? Seems like its still paying off.
In all seriousness though, yeah that should be adjusted, world currency is a scam anyways, "hey we're running out of money, heck just print more" problem solved.
For the people saying "this happens with every game" or the like. Just look at current US vs UK pricing differences on the SE store (obviously not right now because it's down). Type-0 CE is £79.99 and $99.99, not £1 = $1, FFX/X-2 HD PS4 is £39.99 and $49.99, not £1 = $1. There are many more examples. I'm not sure why they found it appropriate in this case.
I'm amazed that not more people have realized that it said 130 Euro for rest of Europe...
Do you really think it's just UK that is getting it so pricey? Prices are almost always the same for a region, and Europe always have the same...
It's probably just another problem they have had
Exactly, paying £35-£42 extra isn't anywhere near acceptable. Especially when you can see that they've converted the other games that they have from the EU store/NA store in a more acceptable manner. Even the Heavensward Digital CE edition is converted more properly with just a few £'s difference to $.
Absolutely zero chance of me paying £129.99 for the CE. That is BS of the highest order. I urge everyone else to vote with their wallets as well and refuse to buy it until we get a fair price.
A $7 price variance I could understand. I cannot understand a $60~ price variance...
You completely missed the point of what he said. It appears to be nothing more than an obvious site error, which you could confirm elsewhere by just seeing that there doesn't exist any product on their store where $ = £. People need to calm down and wait for the site, and likely the price, to get fixed and put back up, since nobody can confirm or buy anything with the site undergoing maintenance.
People have a right to voice their concerns, There's no guarantee that it was an 'error' or that they'll adjust the price from the feedback they are receiving now, but if we don't give them any feedback, they don't have anything to go on assuming it wasn't an error at all.
The issue is that you and everyone else have nothing to go on right now because the site is down for various issues. This shoot first and ask questions later mentality is just stupid. Everyone just needs to take a chill pill until the site issues are sorted out and something concrete can even be confirmed, because at this time there is no site, there are no pre orders, the price may as well be $0 or £0 because nobody can buy anything.
It's not shoot first ask later. I was there at 6:45~ when the products started going up, with the CE priced at £129.99. The site was unstable until about 8:30 when they took it down for maintenance. During that time it was possible to reach the product page and click "Pre-Order" upon which you would be greeted with a message saying your Basket was empty. It seems the took the site down to fix this issue, as no one was able to complete their order. You seem to have concocted this myth that they took it down because the price was wrong.
Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, dark494. The price was what it was when it went live, it was working fine for a few minutes. Plenty of people saw the price.
Until there is an official word to the contrary, I think people are well within their rights to be shouting about it.
Actually we do have something to go on since the price was on the actual site and we are leaving feedback in relation to that. You have actually nothing to go on yourself since you can merely speculate about it being an error. The price was there, the site is messed up since this morning, there's nothing saying the price was inaccurate.
There's no official word to the contrary on any hypothetical I'm bringing forward, and that's the whole point I'm trying to drive at. The fact that nobody could even purchase it when it was up for £129.99 could very well be a related issue to the price being wrong, you have no idea how it's coded but it's certainly possible. I'm only urging that people wait until they fix the site issues and then confirm what the actual price is, because nobody knows exactly all of the issues they could be fixing.
Just checking the Twitter, I believe it there was truly a mistake in pricing SE would have mentioned it https://twitter.com/ff_xiv_en
In actuality, they said they are experiencing technical difficulties, which obviously was something to do with the immense traffic around 7am, causing the site to crash. They add new products to their store all the time, why would they suddenly make a mistake now? This isn't some small independent online store, it's a huge corporation.
Maybe we should use this thread to voice how we are unhappy about this mornings £130 price tag, rather than speculation on why the site is down. More attention this thread gets hopefully more chance the price might be changed from what was shown this morning.
Whatever the case, I'm not going to passively accept these overly inflated prices and would hope other UK fans would join me in getting our voices heard. I've shared this topic on various other gaming forums and would appreciate if others could share with any friends who play FFXIV.
You have no guarantee that the site was taken down because of the price being an error. I'm not saying your incorrect, but we won't know until they bring the site back up, you have to appreciate that people have concerns and are allowed to have an opinion. You telling people not to voice their concerns is completely backwards as we have every right to do so, especially after seeing the price with our own eyes.
It's very much to do with how much your currency is worth. See, the average income is higher, but each dollar doesn't stretch as far. In the UK, our pounds are worth more but in exchange we get less of them to spread around. Simple maths.
Which is one of the reasons why we have exchange rates to begin with. Essentially, it's like charging a US citizen $192 instead of the advertised $130. At least in terms of relative incomes.
Personally, if they're selling a copy for 130 euros, I'd buy that. You'll still save yourself almost 40 quid!
The actual price was stated on their website, on the pre-order page. You are completely out of line dark494. People are actually voicing themselves in an appropriate manner. That 'rage' your talking about, I haven't seen it on this forum. Negative feedback doesn't equal rage and even if people were angry they would still be allowed to be. You can't tell people what or how to feel, simple as.
Show me right now where the price is stated anywhere, that you can confirm and buy it for the price everyone is complaining about. You can't, the site is down, you can't confirm anything right now. Just exercise some patience, or maturity even.
For the record, if it is actually £129.99, yeah it's a bullshit price. But I don't think that's actually the price either. There are dozens of other products and examples on the SE stores that exemplify this. There's no precedence for this, and hence no need to be up in arms this much about something unconfirmed.
You do know what 'was' means right? It's past tense. Voicing concerns have nothing to do with immaturity, on the contrary. I've already stated that there is a possibility that the price could have been an error - however, since we saw the price, it is what it is until stated otherwise. Plain and simple.
You'll get fed the region + transport cost blah blah blah line and swallow it all hook, line and sinker coz we all love the game, so they'll get a free pass.
U.K./Europe as a whole always gets the sh!t end of the stick, also add Austrailia and New Zealand to those that get gouged too.
We don't call Britain rip-off Britain for nothing ;3
Okay guys, CALM THE EFF DOWN!
If there for some weird reason is a £130 price on that page, just buy it on the page that shows price in Euro! 130 Euro like £92, and there are no region locks between EU and UK, because UK is in the damn EU

At which point they should fire their distributors and transport providers. $60 to transport a single item (forget that it'd be on a pallet with a bunch of others and transported for a fraction of the cost) from anywhere in the world to anywhere else in the world is a bit of a joke.
Even if we say it should be £100 factoring in VAT and a bit more so the SE shareholders can get a new yacht, we're still missing a big chunk of that price gouge.
