Is NIN better job than MNK?

OP if you really do enjoy playing monk, you will find a way to adjust to each fight. I especially found it extremely fun maximizing my dps in t9. I failed so many times XD I died to a lot of stupid stuff but in the end I was able to adjust and the only time I loose stacks is when he does double divebomb in final phase. Final coil is also an awesome playground for monks to be creative! Another fun challenge back in the day was retaining gl stacks during Titanhm that was also fun! Anyways, my point is that if you love what you do, you won't complain or think it's all a waste. I wouldn't say monk is the "hardest" class to play but in my opinion it's the most rewarding one. You get to see how you do right off the bat and you'll feel like you earned the dps you did.

I'm confused... What is this thread for? Looking at the title, it seems like a simple question, but OP doesn't seem to want the answer. So, now I've got questions.

1) What is it you hope to accomplish with this thread, MNK buffs, NIN & DRG nerfs?
2a) If yes, do you honestly see either of those happening? What changes would you like to see?
2b) If no, was your aim only to complain? Wouldn't you agree that your time might be better spent leveling a job that you don't have issues with?

I've yet to see a MNK or NIN beat me on DPS as my DRG, but that hardly means that DRG's are better than either of those classes.

It's fairly balanced with MNK coming out on top.

This tread needs to die. Several post have answered the tc questions but he won't accept them. If your mind is already set on monks being "screwed" because of mechanics then play a different class. Nothing is forcing you to continue using it.
Monk shines in coil, is good in tower and, except in special situations, fairly average in dungeons and that has nothing to do with positional. Building gl3 on every mob pull us why. Im fine with that cause dungeons are so face roll easy that I don't care if I have to work harder to top dps. It keeps me from falling asleep.

Not when you're trying to kill something as quick as possible to avoid certain wipe mechanics.

OP fails to understand a couple of things.

It would be boring if there was one DPS that would top on every boss. I can already hear you say "I did not ask for that, ever!" Technically you did. When you say MNKs get screwed over by so many mechanics, you actually say it should not affect MNK this much. This would make them top dps every time.

Another thing: the whole challenge of keeping your dps up as a MNK is what makes the job. In general, a MNK will lose against DRG/NIN when going into an encounter for the 1st time. Once the MNK knows the fight, it's all over 9 out of 10 times.

If you want to be a dungeon master, go play NIN/DRG since out of the three melee, they're arguably better than MNK on trash. Then again, I don't care for dungeons. I want them done fast so I'd rather go BLM/SMN, but that's a whole other discussion.

You sound like someone who can't play his MNK all too well but that's just the impression I get when reading your OP and replies.

Just checked your profile. By the looks of it you haven't been in SCoB or FCoB, probably also not in CoB and the three towers. Like someone already mentioned: positionals for solo content aren't there. For dungeons: most bosses are perfectly fine for MNK. This leaves only endgame raids which you probably did not do on MNK (or at all). Out of those 12 turns (not counting T3), t5 will make you lose stacks twice (perfect balance will be up for 1) and T9 and T12 will make you lose your stacks a couple of times. Bare in mind MNK will still be close to top or even top DPS if the RNG Gods like you.

Another thing that struck me was your tunnel vision. I think you mentioned one of the bosses of the new dungeon. Go play BLM for example, they love to move and dodge things... My point, every job has fights where they'll suffer. MNK does not even come close to suffer in general compared to other jobs.

It's hard for me, I think for others too, to give you credit when your profile shows very little experience as a MNK (not to mention you don't have blood for blood/mercy stroke, not even fracture but I'll let that one slide despite it being a lvl 6 unlock xD). I hope you will decide on what's best for you. My advice would be: invest more time in a job. Going NIN/DRG will not solve your problem. Good NINs/DRGs are rare too.

not to mention the debuff cap messes with a lot, Ive had CT runs where my monk cannot have dragon kick debuff on a mob, it just disappears a second later.

That's because when there is another MNK, he'll apply DK too. If yours was applied first, his will overwrite yours and the third MNK will overwrite his. Most MNKs don't even know this so you should be fine to just go beast mode and skip DK. If not, just ask which one of you will do DK. Problem solved.

It's clear you didn't understand what he meant.

Dreadwyrm gear goes not mean you're good at playing your class. I've come across multiple DRGs in Dreadwyrm who I've out-DPS'd with my worse gear compared to them. Also a NIN too. Hell, I've yet to come across somebody who has out DPS'd me (doesn't mean I'm the best, I've just come across badp layers) and a lot of them have had Dreadwyrm gear.

My Boyfriends mainclass before 2.4 was monk and since 2.4 he switched to ninja and he dont want to play another class, he love his ninja (only samurai will add to the game lol).
I dont play Ninja because its the class from him and in my opinion two same classes are meh...
Now i´ve stared to play ninja, actually level 39 and i love it, i played monk since a month and its fun too but i like the mechanic and style from ninja more.
What would you guys do, if your friend/boyfriend/girlfriend play the same class as you want to do?
Becuase i think in Raids it would be bad with two ninjas and its better if i play my monk and he his ninja :(

2 Ninjas would actually work pretty well, you'd just have to adjust your rotations so your group benifits from Trick Attack 2/6 of the fight, having 2 goads is also a plus, ninjas come very close to monk DPS too.
The only drawback is, you'd miss out on Dragon Kick which is the best source of damage mitigation a melee can bring for Final Coil.

Not entirely sure if it would work, but you could even try 2xnin 1x Mnk 1x brd, could be a bit problematic in T10 with Heat Lightning because of 3 melee and a OT around the boss. And in T11 there might come problems with the sphere and cube cause of no casters, but that way you could have 2ninjas and still have DK which is quite useful, if those two and possibly other struggles can be overcome. (no further experience in FCoB so don't know if there's other good reasons to only have 2meles)

HA Ving more than 2 melee in your party is annoying, and personally I recommend against it. It is doable, but really annoying for all the melee players involved since it feels cramped around the boss with 2 tanks and 3 mdps.
