omg i'm just starting these quests and tbh that much bad rng...introduced AGAIN by se makes me question their intelligence. It actually such a bad design, you think they would have learned by now.

I'm wondering how Yoshi thinks forcing us to run the same dungeon over and over again that we come to hate it is good for the game. Before I started this quest, there were some dungeons I liked, not anymore.

My bane so far has been braflox. Haven't kept an exact count but feel like it over 30 I'm sure it's atleast more than 25. Took about 15-20 runs on amdapor keep (joy) all the rest were fairly easy tho I am 0/4 on stone vigil. I already hated that one from when it was expert roulette q and ran it like 20 consecutive days. I do agree that they should make all the dungeons for the quest accessible so your not stuck running 2 with bad rng just to unlock others.

Thats why it´s called RNG...

I don´t think it´s a matter of an good idea or not, but it really get´s me thinking they got no better one...

By datamining, speculations go for the next stage as a combination of rare items and spiritbonding (like Light-Farming before).

So the worst of it - combined...

I finally decided which second relic i spend my atmas at - mainly because i capped poetichs on wednesday and besides coil I hat nothing that brings me back playing - about the 4th book now, and i already think i should stop it already, focus only on my main class, and enjoy a lot of other games I own ^^

I´m really courious how long that game keeps me going...

This is true.
I ran dungeons from roulettes every day before Zodiac. I enjoyed running them.

Now it feels like a chore to do any dungeon roulette.
I only do it once or twice a week now.
Even the new dungeons (AK HM, WP HM, KotL), which are quite nicely designed... I just have no will to run them.
I got my Zodiac a few months ago, but all the dungeon farm for random drops really ruined the whole dungeon experience for me.

It's called 'smart RNG' and Blizzard has already adopted it in Diablo 3. I fully agree that FFXIV could really use something like it...

its a little heartbreaking having over 8+ dungeons to do and going a few weeks without ANY of them dropping their item. How am i supposed to want to do this if the rng is so bad AND i have to do it this many more times? did you really really need to make the drop rate so low?

Im losing the will to keep trying...i can only do so much in a day and when im stuck running dungeons that drop nothing thats like an hour or 2 of no progress anywhere

You know, i dont mind a good grind...hell, i didnt mind light farming because it was mesureable.... Now with this RNG bullcrap... some people i know did theirs in less than 60 dungeons total!... and others need 60 tries for one of them.... Common SE...get a clue...

personally I found this quite easy to get, but I did have to run bray and hala hm quite afew times for those drops.

I have heard and know people who have had to run dungeons many times and gotten no drop though but that is rng for you.

hopefully they tune down the rng come expansion cus its starting to get to be a bit much, with all the different aspects of the rng system in place from daily stuff to relics and crafting.

I don't mind grinds and even long ones but all this rng is getting rather annoying.

True it is RNG but a really bad form of rng.
How some can have all dungeons complete in a week and drops are like having to run dungeons once or twice, others it takes 20+ runs per dungeon, that to me is just bad design
And having added the crafting component... good thing FC crafters have helped otherwise worst idea ever
My other classes are on hold until this hopefully changes (drop rate increases, less gc seals, lower cost for other items)

No drop last 4 days. Had run Pharos/Amdapor Keep over 65 time.
At that point, i know i will never redo that quest or do hardmode roulette again.
Sick of those dungeons...

idk why they don't have a limit put in place for this ... To me, it feels harder the second time around, when I feel it should be easier and reward you for doing it again.

It's the old Atma 2.0, new and improved for increased hatred! I ran Snowcloak probably 40 times before I got the drop. I didn't mind Pharos, I love the music, but it took a good 15-20 times, same for Amdapor. Now I'm on Wanderer's Palace, with no luck in sight. RNG is just a lazy method of doing things. At least the Atma books had set goals, and easily tracked progress. RNG gives you the finger time and time again.

Because of the rng, I only will ever do my blm, I did indeed get the drops fairly easily.

Regardless of my progression though, I strongly suggest to SE to vastly improve drop rates or add a hidden "cap" of about 15 or so to help those that have truly hideous rng, its just not right.

It also would help ppl do more then 1...isn't that a good thing for the game?
I know some indeed will go crazy and do more then one or 2 anyway, but the majority, (I would lay money down) will not if the rng has the possibility to stay so so bad.

Increase please SE for all those still trying, and for those that would do more then one if so.

The worst part about all of the grind. That moment when you realize that you could have done literally anything either productive or fun. With the amount of time this quest-line requires if you have bad luck, you could do so many things. You could learn a new language, learn an instrument, meet new people, investigate a better career path. In fact by doing this quest-line you are literally hurting yourself IRL needlessly.

The best stages IMO were: the original, animus books(-fates), and lights (post update). They may have been grindy, but they are definite set goals that you could target at your leisure without having to worry about if your run was literally a waste of time.

Between this, TT card grinding, and IMO a disappointing assortment of mini games in the Saucer this game has become a lot less fun.

I must be the only on with the worse rng. I am 0 for 101 and counting on blayfox hard. Rng is very unfair system. I rather there be a goal in place or a progression system where you see the progress you are making.

I just went some 7 or 8 hours without a single drop. Averaging around 3 dungeons per hour. This is not a fun system. It's not a sane system. Hell, it's not even a boring system. It is an innately frustrating, unfair system that naturally punishes people regardless of whether they do well or poorly. It is so idiotically conceived that only a fool would think it as anything other than broken by design.

The idiot who is in charge of this system needs to be fired and replaced with someone who can actually design fair objectives. I don't even care if it requires a 40 hour investment like the novus->nexus grind. It just needs to be something better than a system that innately has a failure scenario where it's ever practically impossible to finish the quest through no fault of the player. The RNG just flat out needs to be removed from quests. Period.

Since I've started my quest, I have been keeping track of my drops and my run attempts via spreadsheet to see how good my luck has been.

My drops so far have been:

As you can see, it is totally up to RNG. I wish good luck for everyone that does this quest. I'll update it on request.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I find that running tanking job and getting the instant dungeon commence to pop and attempt back to back is amazing. Yet, I only have the SMN Zeta weapon.

Tanks can back to back queue, but when you go some 12+ hours without seeing one item averaging 3 dungeons per hour, it gets very old very fast. I ended up getting well below average on a number of my dungeons, where "average" is arbitrarily defined as a 90% chance to see the drop by X runs (which is about 20 for a 1 in 9 chance). The system is broken by design.

Day after complaining... 1 Sv drop 1 cloak 1 sasti nothing then did an hour other stuff another cloak... got drop 2 runs sasti got last drop :o

Also restarted questline for my war... 1 run AV drop RNG is riddiculous at times >.<

Working on weapon #2 so I know the struggle is real but 2 days off from work and I got one first thing in the morning on day 1 then nothing till late nite on day 2 :(

65 Pharos runs now and still no drop...im seriously getting pissed at this BS system :mad:

Currently 0/26 in Sastasha HM. Only had 2 drops in my last 61 dungeon runs. I know people who've finished their entire zodiac in less time than that.

This is the worst experience I've had in this game by far.

0/6 on Hullbreaker so far. Screw you atma 2.0, and screw you se.

0/14 at the moment on Satasha HM. Its the last one I need to get my zodiac. And its being a gigantic pain lol.

about 35 Amdabor keep runs atm... only this one left and stone vigil after this. First time im really getting tired and bored of this game. Quests like this are really lame ..

I am right there with you. I have lost count on how many runs have beared nothing. The Zodiac drops are ridiculous. So to break it up I switched to atmas for my ninja. Those aren't as bad but the drop rate is still to poor. This "endgame" RNG is crazy. I have a FC member that completely did his Zodiac Atma to Zeta in 2 weeks (most of that was light farming he said). Now that is some amazing luck but on the other side of the spectrum is me who hasn't got a drop for 2 weeks.

It is cause of this that only thing I can do is unsub. This RNG BS has made the game unfun. I honestly don't have another MMO to go to, but if you aren't have fun there isn't much point.

#1 and #2 weren't bad, but #3 was horrible. And now I'm thinking of starting #4. I think I need an intervention.

I'm glad that I am done, but I do hate the RNG of this quest. I hope they fix it soon! Many people are having really bad luck with the drops.

6/16 drops and about 60 dungeons run
i queue up multiple runs so am not keeping track of specific dungeons.
longest dry spell so far is/was 37 runs.

Can you obtain the dungeon items as another job, once the quests are active of course?

Yes! And you can even obtain them while equipped with a Novus weapon (to get Nexus light), which is how the crazies with multiple Zodiacs do it.

I'm really fed up by all this RNG-shit. I got all the 2000 light in only 3 days. I was encouraged beside the huge grind. Because I could see a little bit progress every time I killed Lady Garuda. But this RNG-crap really makes me wonna stop playing FFXIV. I don't count any longer how many runs I did, but today was again a super awesome day: I played 5 hours this evening and didn't get on single item. Basically I wasted 5 hours, because I didnt get one f*cking step closer to my target.

Get it SE: RNG makes no fun because it's the worst feeling in a game ever, when you waste x hours and cannot advance one single tiny step.

Just finished my Zodiac drops yesterday. I guess RNGus took pity on me for my horrid alexandrite drop rates, and allowed the dungeon drop phase to go smoothly.

Please don't take this post as me gloating; more than anything, it shows how messed up this RNG system is. It's really unfair that some people have amassed more runs trying to get the drop from a single dungeon than others totaled getting all 16. Like I said at the beginning-- I got utterly hosed with alexandrites, so I feel your pain. Hopefully, patch 2.55 will address the abysmal drop rates some folks are experiencing.
