Except those were devs's words. like, litteraly. But everyone has their opinion on that. I just think they didn't bother to change the encounters that much (maybe just prevent cheaty strats like T6 LoS and T8 solo tank) just to please like 1% of the game. You're free to think that they went for all the hard work behind balancing content just to please the minority inside the minority. Doesn't mean you are (nor I am) right. Devs's words are against you so I just take that as a basis,that's all
Hildibrand is perfectly fine, i enjoy the ridiculous and funny scenario he get himself caught in.
Also, i enjoy the fan service recent cases brought us, like Ultros and Typhoon for example. I am definitely looking forward to fight Gilgamesh again as well as Enkidu.
I hope there's more of him coming in 3.0 and beyond and its not like there's 20 quests every time a new case is out, there's like 4 and barely takes long to complete.
Aside from the fact there's different teams working on Hildibrand and Coil stuff, Hildibrand is too loved by the playerbase to just remove out of the blue. And I wouldn't have it any other way. If they wanna implement more Savage Coil, they'll do it. And put in Hildibrand at the same time.
bah, I can't agree with the OP, the Hildi storyline has been some of the most fun I have had in any game in years. I want them to continue. besides that I find coil to be a terrible way to give hardcore gamers something, it feels less hardcore and more casual with the elements amped up. I think they could have come up with something better for hardcore gamers.
As much as I love this questline, it has been getting boring and redundant in a way. I feel it should be wrapped up nicely, and new stuff is made instead. It won't be savage fcob as I highly doubt the team developing a side story would be also developing raids, but new fresh content would be nice.
Hildibrand is one of the best (if not the best) things that the game has. Hildibrand's quests are some of the few things that I hold dear, and that I can still remember plenty of time after having played them. That's simply because playing them was an enjoyable experience.
It's something relaxing that everyone can participate in, it's well made, it can be plenty of fun, and it entertains (that's the main reason why we play games, after all). Also, the team that works in his quests doesn't work in other things like Coil, and even if they did I would prefer that they worked in something that everyone can enjoy rather than on something that only a 1% of the playerbase will ever see.
I don't see any reason to remove him.
People play games to have fun and by extension, different people find different parts of the game fun.
Perhaps the OP and those supporting this idea should stop mashing the skip cutscene option and actually watch/read the quest line and enjoy it for what it's meant to be.
Hildibrand and its team, have nothing to do with the development of raids.
If they were to drop it, it would be to bring some other kind of similar content in.
I believe the reason the devs asked if they should continue or use that team to develop something ells is because the story arc is coming to a close. This means they have the choice of bringing a new side story with new characters in or keep Hildi and his story.
Think of it as a show. The show has finished its season at a point where everything has been wrapped up nicely. The crew can be used to make a new season or it can be used for a new show. The crew how ever is not suddenly going to be used to develop military equipment instead.
If they can keep the comedy and fun that Hildibrand brings with something ells sure give him a break. If not keep him going because the game needs some comedy with the serious tone of everything ells in it. Just don't end with a lumberjack Dexter.

Aaaaahahahahah. NO. I would rather sign a petition for more Hildibrand. Still I would like to know why you think that the same people design hardcore rading content and a questline that so far didn't even feature dungeons.

I just wish they would put half the amount of effort they put into the Hildibrand questline into the Main Scenario. I feel gypped every patch cycle because the MS has so much potential but the dialogue, cutscenes and writing are just so boring compared to the Hildibrand saga.
Don't get me wrong, though. I love Hildy.

I love side stories and quest and would like to see more of this type of content.
Assuming that the same people who work on side story quests works on raid content and stuff lol, they have small team each dedicated to several aspects of the game.

To this thread, I leave a question: When have what the devs have directly told us(via the trailer and streams/slides) ever painted the entire picture of a patch? The answer is never. Until the moment the patch drops, there will remain a possibility that a Savage Final Coil has been planned this entire time. It might even be in Preliminary Patch notes if we get them this time.
So... I think it would be best to whine after absolute confirmation is made, if applicable :)

My vote is that there are no more hildebrand quests or savage coil. I think too much time is spent of this type of fluff so that when they try to make relic or other quests all they can do is reskin old content.
I would like to see more open world content, hnms, more gear then just the 'tower/tome/coil' trilogy. There are also too many things promised since as far back as 1.0 that is still not in the game yet they waste their time on fluff
it would be really nice to have more content end game then a tower model which is too easy, coil for many cant pass and the dungeon spam crap... lets have hnms, sky gods, dynamis, limbus, and other 'more then just 8 people' content. The MM in MMO is for Massive Multiplayer: 8 people is not massive and there are only two pieces of content that use 24 people. would be nice if companies had a point to be in, and break the 8 man static only crap going on.
Best thing they could do is reduce the RNG dependency and remove tome limits & lock outs.

OP doesn't deserve Hildibrand.
I dont like the Hildibrand quests line and wish it had died with 1.0. However i'm not abstain to other players enjoying more quests from this line however, I do wish they would be kept completely as side story and not affect main missions or put up gates to trial roulette content like they have been used in the past. When this happens I get out the pitch forks and hope for them to go away. Yes the content was easy enough to complete but being forced into it is not a good way to make players appreciate him any more than they do or do not. Please keep his content 100% side quest not required or remove him from the game. That is how I feel. And yes I find most of the latter content with him and his father to be offensive myself.
Sorry but I cannot condone this. Hildibrand is the comedic relief to the seriousness to the rest of the "story" of the game. It's nice to have something other than "We're all gonna die! Save us!" even if that is ultimately the objective paramount for the game. Will Hildibrand get phased out? Maybe. Anytime soon? Don't count on it.

Did you consider that maybe you're looking at this from the wrong perspective? That maybe they're saving the best (savage coil) for last (after the next Hildibrand installment)?
If you're someone who wants everything nowNOWNOWNOWNOWyesterdayOMG, then you're playing the wrong genre of game.
Hildibrand and the Mandervilles are a core part of what makes this game amazing. Savage Coil, while nice for the hardcore fans, wont be played by 90% of the playerbase.
I'm for keeping Hildebrande. It's ridiculous, mindless fun. I wouldn't call any raid hours of "content". It's hours of learning a dance to kill a monster, but it's not really hours worth of enjoyable "content". Questlines where you interact with the world, learn something about it, and help complete some task is hours of actual content.
Hildibrands quest are the only ones I've ever read through it all in this entire game. I love doing them with a cup of coffee in the morning. I disagree with this
The only acceptable replacement for a Hildibrand quest line would be a Godbert quest line. However even this is unacceptable since this would mean that Nashu would most likely be absent.
I think the main scenario should be developed in a style more similar to the Hildebrand questline. Progressing the main scenario in this fashion would be far more entertaining than our curent main scenario.
