God, I can't believe they didn't nerf these accessories. Perhaps they don't mind letting us feel like gods since the Heavensward gear reset is coming. STR IV has always been consistently cheaper than VIT IV on my server, so I think that I'll end up melding the Fending accessories again. So what if I miss out on some DET... I'm gaining way too much STR to care!

EDIT: VIT IV is 500k and STR IV is 40k. I think my path is clear!

It's available from the same guy that gives you the WoD quest after you complete WoD for the first time I believe.

I just went back to that guy and I think I got the quest. But the reward is only allagan catalyst? What about the carbontwine and coats?

There's another quest afterwards called "All about NOAH" Or something which unlocks the weekly quest "The Gift of the Archmagus". That's the weekly quest and you only get carboncoats + allagan catalyst.

What are the stats like on the str accessories? I bought 8 Vit 4s and don't want Parry.. so need to figure out what I want.

I would prefer to start with Ring and Ear rings as I have DW Fending bracelet, and the Ironworks Slaying choker looks good.

Busy at work, still trying to figure out the right way to get to the VIT I need. With the variations in stats, it will probably be Fending Wrist / Slaying Ear for me. I'm going to do the CT quests to get the materials for my 4* buddy and supply him with the gil to make them for me. I bought the STR4s I needed this morning for 40k ea.... Hopefully I get my Ragnorak soon so I will have 3 dps slaying accessories and 2 penta meld i110 for that beastly combo of 600+ VIT/STR

Fending ear is ACC and fending wrist is Crit. Safe bet to do those first.

I'm going to run with those 2 i110s and 3 slaying accessories for 10-12 and 2 i110s, 2 slaying 1 fending for t13.

Yeah it looks like the Earrings and Bracelets are the go-to's for those that want 2 i110 Pentamelds. The Fending Choker/Rings have Parry which is undesirable and it's impossible to cost-efficiently meld the Slaying Choker/Rings with tier IV materia.

Dang that free accuracy is so tempting... can always just meld IIIs for det and crit and lose less than 10 basis points of dps....

lol had to share this, someone on my server bought 50 STR 4 materias before patch and now they are selling them for 150k each, 4x what they were worth beforehand. Probably an overall good move, but they listed them all in one MB item, so they have 50 STR 4s up for 8 million gil. Yeah... I think that's going to be a tough sell.

Fending bangles: det 4, acc4, str 4, str 4, det 3

Sound about right?

Not a WAR, but I do gear my PLD the same way and here are my melds for my fending accessories. I melded them with capping Vit AND Str (not sacrificing a little bit of either) and then worrying about accuracy cap then the various SIDE stats. Please remember that SIDE stats like crit and det are called that for a reason and they should not be prioritized of MAIN stats.

Yes you are right about the STR, but for VIT, I think 16 vit is enough, no need for 21

I am thinking going all Strength accessories since VIT materia is currently cheaper on my server than STR. Melds I'm thinking of going on Choker/Rings DET lV, DETIV, VITIV, VITIV, ACC IV and Swap Crit for Det with the piece with Det and Crit for acc with the wrist.

Thoughts? I'd like to not go broke but I think Acc is needed if I want to optimize my dps as a warrior since dread axe doesn't have any acc and new body from WOD offers Crit and Det.

Has anyone confirmed the Stat Caps on the New i110 Jewelry?

Given that, is it pretty much the same if we went with STR Jewelry or VIT Jewelry? (same amount of VIT / STR on each?)

Last meld can be vit III, you only lose 1 vit

Yeah if you decide to meld only 16 VIT instead of 20/21 you might want to reconsider. Giving up 5 Vit per accessory (for a miniscule tradeoff of 6 Det or 9 Crit/Acc at best) its probably not really worth it.

Stats of 5 accessories with 16 VIT melded:
90 STR
80 VIT
Additional 30 Det at best (~10 STR worth)

Stats of 4 accessories with full VIT + 1 Slaying:
95 STR
84 VIT

The stats end up being just about equal and you save yourself 1 whole pentamelded accessory. You also get more flexbility by being able to choose the Slaying accessory you want to use.

So after much though this is the way I am melding my accessories, that I already had made for me, just doing the melds now:

Earrings of Fending (Comes with Accur)
DET4
STR4
STR4
DET3
STR3

That makes that accessory 21 vit, 18 str, 19 accur, 10 det, and it will be a hell of a lot cheaper than double melding det or crit as rank 4s.

The melds drops to 29% on your SECOND MELD. I happen to have receive a fair bit of bad luck and have burned 10 STR4s with 10 failures on my second meld. FML, but these are the risks we take.

My second piece will be Slaying Wrist (Accur built in)

VIT4
VIT4
VIT3
VIT1

This is my budget meld, with the cost of my fending accessory's meld guaranteed to exceed 3 million for me, I really need to par back my tenaciousness (I don't make that much gil and I have a novus to meld). So I'm losing 4 det or so and its going to save me potentially 500k-1mil in VIT4 melds at 11%. Melds go 100, 29, 16, 11, 8 - GULP

I will get 21VIT, 18STR, 6DET, 19ACCUR out of this one. Still an absolute beast of an accessory.

My final set SHOULD give me: 595 STR, 592 VIT (10,050 hp in Defaince w/food and party buff), 558 Accur, 567 crit, 295 det, 394 sksp. No +parry, awwww yeah. My relic will be melded screwy, with SkSp, Accur, Det, and Crit, but idgaf to be totally honest.

I dunno about that Slaying wrist, how much more expensive is VIT IV on your server than STR IV? Would you be better off going with the Fending Wrist and melding accuracy and STR:

If that's too expensive you can take out the second ACC4 and drop in an ACC3 in the 4th or 5th meld.

They are about even, right now I'm getting totally screwed on my STR4 melds, but what are ya gonna do : /

You actually get a way bigger bang for you buck using the WoD Chest/Dread legs/WoD boots on your det/crit than pentamelding them in these accessories.

EDIT: I have the dread legs, just not equipped because of accuracy.

Thoughts on Fending earrings + slaying ring?

The earrings come with a lot of accuracy and easier to meld Str than Vit assumably. I may go with something like what Ehayte posted. Dunno how much I want to spend for that Det though. Might go skill speed if it would get me 390s-low 400s.

The slaying ring comes with Skill Speed instead of Parry, which is really nice.

Keep in mind your first meld is 100% success - I happened to have 2 DET4s laying around (you get one free from the end of the story in 2.5 guys! Its nice and short just do it!).

Most servers STR and VITs have pulled even from what most people are reporting - at least on my server. VIT3s are even up to 80k.

Yeah they way they did these its just going to be what works best for you - I am intending on using a lot of left side gear that doesn't have accur, so I needed the 19 accur from the HQ accessories. and I didn't want to ever be trying to meld anything not 100% that is over 150k a pop, thus I was willing to take the 2-4 Det per piece hit to pay 30k instead of 600k per crit/det.

I'm actually with alimdia on this. I don't think it is necessary to cap VIT if you use the slaying accessories. The only time I think it would be "worth it" is for MT on T13. Even then, you can still get 9.2k+ HP (with 30 VIT allocation) using 16 VIT in each slot.

Tbh, if you're on T12/13, and you're not wiping due to HP issues, it's a waste if you gain more HP switching to the crafted 110 stuff IMO. I'm also of the mindset that when the expansion drops, all of our gear will be replaced... so there is no "future proofing" that needs to be done.

Has anyone confirmed the Main Stat Caps yet? Ehayte, if you're melding now can you confirm:

* Platinum Earrings of Fending HQ: Comes with VIT +21, Acc +19. How much Strength can you add to it (18 or 19)? And how about Accuracy?

* Platinum Earrings of Slaying HQ: Comes with STR +18, Det +13. How much Vitality can you add to it (20 or 21)? And how about Determination?


I'm curious if the Total STR + VIT on either Earring is the same cap. If it is, then it evens out mostly, allowing people to decide on either losing out on 1 Accuracy or 1 Determination (since 3 Slots for Main Stat, 2 Slots for Secondary Stat (Acc or Det)), right?

The main stat caps are the same as other i110 VIT and STR jewelry (21 for VIT, 18 for STR). Cap for non-determination secondaries is what comes on the accessory (19). Determination cap is 13 I believe.

Thanks Stox. D'oh, thinking about it, yah that makes sense (especially VIT), since Yoshi P seems to be pretty adamant to make sure everyone at each iLevel gear threshold has enough VIT to clear various encounters it was designed for.

Well in that case, if we're making sure to cap the Main Stat in each Jewelry piece, it's really if people want the +1 Determination or +1 Accuracy (and looking at their own server's market prices for Materia needed). Or those that want less of a Main Stat (just 2 Slots for Main Stat) and using the extra slot for another stat (like Crit or maxing out the secondary stat) right?

I'm using 3 Platinum accessories of Slaying (Scarf, Earrings, and a Ring).

Melds are: VIT 4, VIT 4, VIT 4, ACC 4, DET 3 (Scarf and Ring)/CRIT 3 (Earrings).

My other 2 accessories are Augmented Ironworks Bracelet of Slaying and Dreadwyrm Ring of Slaying.

It bears mentioning that I have i130 left-side aside from belt (using penta-melded Wootz Plate Belt). If your left-side isn't up to snuff, then swapping out for STR accessories might not be feasible for you yet.

I was using 3 Ruby accessories and the 2 i130 STR accessories before patch, but that's cutting it pretty close for t13, in terms of VIT, so the extra VIT from Platinum accessories is pretty nice (if, admittedly, unnecessary).

Yes the caps are normal i110 as would be expected. Ariyala is actually updated with the caps, so you can check that out here, just make sure you click "Use DPS Accessories" and "Crafted Gear" at the top.

So the max melds of all gear is similar to the maximum melds on crafted belts, correct? (With the exclusion of 2 additional secondary stats)

I melded the entire str set DET4/DET4/VIT4/VIT3/ACC3 except the piece with DET, for that piece I went with CRIT IV. With the Dread axe not having acc I felt that acc was essential to maximize the dps pieces on the left side. Ideally I would have liked 2 VIT4's but it just isn't worth the cost when the left side provides more than enough hp for a OT War.

similarly I've gone with Det4/det4/vit4/vit4/acc4 for pieces with SS
and Det4/Det4/vit4/vit4/crt4 for piece with acc
and crt4/crt4/vit4/vit4/acc4 for piece with det
havent' had single lhs dreadwyrm piece drop for me yet(only seen one boot over so many weeks...one of those caster/healer gear only loot table)
so all i120 poe on LHS
acc over by about 13 acc atm
but I'm expecting needing to eat acc food once I upgrade some gears to non-acc dread piece or even WoD body .. which seems promising given t13body is bit of a way off

I really want to use that WoB but it would be very hard to use the WOD body, Dread legs and Dread axe with pelted rhs.
