Once again, as I have said for something else in the past: This is not Yoshida typing these things in english, it is a translator.

Yes, while not a huge problem, I think the references to MLP are kind of unnecessary and could be seen as off-putting to those of us that don't have issues. Final Fantasy has never been the pop-culture referencing sort of game anyway, leave it to Blizzard and the like to make corny jokes such as these.

This thread is worth the bumps though. Any thread that makes one think "Are you some kind of moron?" before even finishing the OPs post is worth bumps. It's like Jerry Springer. We all know it was a terrible show but sometimes watching a tranny beat the crap out of her scrawny BF who thought she was a woman is funny albeit a "feeling kinda guilty for having indulged that garbage" sort of funny.

I tried to think of a word that most accurately describes someone who a) is incapable of grasping figures of speech and b) has never learned to understand the concept of a joke in any form and therefore interprets everything people say literally (which by the way must be really amusing for those around you), but all I could conjure up was the word simpleton.

Well... I thought it was cute and funny...

Almighty God. People will throw a hissy fit over anything these days.

It's just a joke. And even if it wasn't, having a severe allergic aversion to it is an over reaction of a high degree. It's just a kids show that older people enjoy (happens all the time, target audience is just a target and whoever you catch in the shot is just a bonus). Don't take so much offense to it.

It's not a big deal. I don't understand the whole MLP thing either, however in the letter it made me chuckle. It was a well placed reference by the translators. As evident by a lot of forum posts, the translators like to make "buddy-buddy" jokes.

For a bit of consolation, if you read the table describing current and planned changes they simply refer to the system as "Personal Chocobos."

Just shrug off the insults and don't take any of it personally. The interblags are a good place to develop a thick skin for that kind of stuff.

Ohhh please make it called "My Little Chocobo". It is a damn shame some people in here don't have a sense of humor. Accept the ponies and you will love the ponies.

Honestly, I actually kinda let it fly right by me when i read "My Little Chocobo." I didn't even know they were referencing My Little Pony. I /fail. ;-;
