BRD 2.4 gear progression approach

You guys can enjoy your 1 extra DPS if RNG goes your way w/ the Kirimu coat vs the Dreadwyrm. I'll take the vit, def, and mdef of the i130 all day. I guess if you never do progression while the content is fresh and have no plans on doing savage FCoB then the Kirimu is BiS if you have the money to pentalmeld it with four Savage Aim IV and one Savage Might IV. Have fun with that.

Up until this past week I absolutely had to wear crafted i90 accessories w/ vit for our t13 farm. Vit is not valueless. Survivability is crucial. A dead BRD does 0 DPS.

I agree with you, but the Kirimu Coat pentamelded is definitely better than the Poetics Body piece. I'd wager the same applies with the pants.

Dreadwyrm gear drops though and I'm on that stuff like white on rice.

Now is the question is: is the 125 relic better than the 130 ironworks? Ironworks is 5 ilevels higher and most likely 1WD stronger but has a disgusting amount of skill speed.

This weapon is a new weapon. We have no idea at the moment if the Novus system (aka choose your stats) will be kept or not. I think we just have to wait for xivdb data mining :)

The Novus chosen stat will be carried over. The upgrade is just a continuation like how Nexus was, with new name and new design, no glows.

it is better than the Skillspeed bow. dang it. i wish i have more time to get my Yoichi Bow. the stupid skillspeed bow is killing my TP in coil. i sing TP for myself more than what our melee needs :/

SE killed us with this gear set. trying to avoid SS as much as possible and still maintain accuracy.

Yeah Relic seems to me like a temporary or glam piece now, lol.
If i may ask what stats are some of you adding to the kimiru coat? I just got one the other day and was thinking crit and some det to make up for not having full det on my Novus
I curently stand at 547 acc (overkill) crit 467 and det 301, skill speed is 416
Really i have played more as blm and now Nin as mains so have upgraded those in poetic but do wish to continue on with Bard as well

Agreed I think I'm gonna dust off the atma and just get on with it. I can't even take into account the stat weight of sksp on ironworks, I just hate it xc + the fact that yoichi will go 135 and...will be same as dreadwyrm....if my static clears fcob ik rengesus will throw us every weap but bow :3

I find this interesting....might get one and meld it with acc 9/6/6/6 and 6 crit. Should be a pretty solid upgrade over my ironworks hat. Is it better than upgraded ironworks hat though?

But it will end up being obsolete in future updates anyhow, Relics never remain bis and heck for some classes they are not

At some point they'll be the same ilvl as dreadwyrm if it follows the same pattern as novus->nexus, and so it's better for people who's dreadwyrm weapon doesn't have the best stats. Also considering how few people have t13 down and not all magitek weapons have good stats at all (looking at smn and the 51 skill speed bards get) the relic is a lot better. And there's rng, if I remember right Ooshima had terrible t9 luck with the bow, I know people with server 3rd who never saw a sch book, and there again relic is great.

Every single thing becomes obsolete in future. If you are going to keep caring about the future, might as well forget it. It is as good as for example, your PC is on the 4th gen intel chip and you are eyeing the 5th gen chip but not enough $, by the time you have the $ they announced the 6th gen chip and you want to wait it out. It is endless. What is important is NOW. Having it means you have more open options.

RNG for me:

BCoB:
Only 1 loot per month (I think I only have 4 pieces minus the bow)
Allagan Composite Bow received 3 days before Patch 2.2

SCoB:
Received belt on week 1 and then not seeing loots until at least 1.5months later
10 weeks of T8 before seeing one piece of loot and another 2-3 weeks later of T8 before getting the pants (it was double drop with the choker.the ONLY time ever I got a double drop but I think because of this, I used up all my luck and never got anything from T9 within its validity period lol).
Still NO High Allagan Composite Bow to date
The chest piece only dropped for me like after some 10+ of T9 farms in 2.4 lol.

FCoB:
So-So luck, haven't been receiving loots until recently (3 pieces in this week + last week), total of 5 pieces only...

I used to think relics a waste of time but with the only weapon being better than 125 yoichi is the dreadwyrm, and ofc dreadwyrm bow = 135 fully upgraded relic, lets just say my ha bow is starting to feel really bad..... Would be nice also to remove the stress of rng by making the dreadwyrm obsolete ( by having a relic bow with identical stats@2.51 ) ^^

It won't have identical stats. The relic will have more det.

Yea. The relic will probably do roughly 2 more DPS at i135 on average.

Still need the Dread body, gloves, and bracelet.. But BRD damage is pretty nice on t13. 461 last night with no DRG. Not too shabby. The secondaries are so much better on the Dreadwyrm bow that it feels like a much larger than 1 WD difference compared to the i130

Edit: nvm I get it now, you want dread body and not 110 crafted so u need the acc from gloves....

I will have to respec my Yoichi Bow. I have to remove accuracy from it and replace it with det/crit :(

Relic is really a do it good or forget it thing :X

im working on new scroll to remove the accuracy.

however, i wont apply it until i get T12 dread pants ^^. the 21 accuracy on my yoichi bow allowed me to equip iron gloves. also i used my carbon on the iron boots.!.

other bard in pt was taking care of tp song (he's using ironbow). while i was on foe duty. love our healers no mage ballad is needed unless for emergencies <3

from yesterday experience i felt first time using Yoichi Bow in raid i can say i was about ~200tp ahead from my usual Invigorate timer!

Yoichi Bow is the best investment i have done for my bard this patch. so happy with the result.

bracelet i havent seen yet. i have the bad boots :D (not gonna use them) and the t12 hat. (zzz no accuracy. cant use it)

I'm an idiot and upgraded my augmented bow because I was having terrible luck with my relic, and now I'm 2 drops away from it :'(. What would you guys suggest be my next twine upgrade: boots or head?

I've always thought I'm like one of the BRDs in Tonberry with the worst loot luck because almost every BRD I've come across are better geared than me lol.

Two months after I did my first T10, never saw any drop. OK, earings once, the ninja got them... Same for the other turns (I lost choker on T11 last week).
I got my HA bow on my first T9 down, and hope its gonna be the same for T13 to compensate this bad luck I currently have...
I hope to have something tonight, maybe...

the choker isnt good so dont feel bad about it. the earings on the other hand are bis ><

go for the boots first! and Yoichi is worth everything. its worth the effort. believe me i've experienced the difference. it is the bow to use till you get t13 bow.

I've never owned the HA bow lol.
T5 bow came 3-4 days before patch 2.2 to be made obsolete by Levi Bow.

Oh, I have a question about the use of carbonewines... If we have the Yoichi bow, it doesnt make sense to upgrade the i120 bow, is that right?
With optimized stats (crit det), Yoichi bow is
50 WD, 51 dex, 49 crit, 35 det
Compared to the augmented magitek bow which is
51 WD, 54 dex, 25 det, 51 SS

So 49 crit 10 det against 1 physical damage, 3 dex, 51 SS. If I remember the weights well (would be somethin like 1 WD=9 dex, 1crit=1 det=0.3 dex, 1SS=0.15 dex), then i130 is only better by (9+3+51*0.15)-(49+10)*0.3 = 2 dex, is that correct?

In that case, the best order for upgrade is:
- legs
- head
- gloves
- belt
- weapon
(I did not buy pant nor body, because of crappy stats)

Is that right?

You should have enough accuracy to use the Dreadwyrm head, which gives crit instead of det.

someone did the calculations on reddit and it came out as:

crit/det Yoichi is roughly ~1.5dex less compared to i130 augmented ironbow. BUT. no TP starvation penalties. :D

I wish I can refund my magitek bow even if it's half price.

Thanks for the advice guys and gals =), and I too have had less than stellar luck with drops so far. I've gotten the gloves, neck, and earrings so far. I only use the earrings atm (augmented my choker and the stat weights on my hands don't outweigh poetics), and I've seen the bracelet drop 4 times.... When I'm on my alt -.-. I've never seen the legs or bracelet on Akashi ;~;
