Really hoping they put the servers in Germany. It's typically the best solution for european server in MMMOS since it's in the middle of europe.
(putting them in Milan would just be fantastic for me though :P )

I am curious if this will mean new servers or taking some of the NA/EU ones and repurposing them for EU only. Example, moving the hyperion(legacy) to EU and forcing hyperion to play from Eu data center or free server move to a NA one. I am very happy to be getting Eu servers but would very much like it to be new ones and give the EU players a free option to just move over to them instead of swapping them around.

Servers transfers like that would lead to a whole deal of issues. Part of FC's wanting to transfer, part of FC's maybe not. Friends transferring, others not. Etc.

It's much more likely they'll simply go for transferring EU servers all together in that case.

Just something I am concerned about. Will they move all the servers currently who has the EU mark on them? Or make us all move to brand new servers?
As if having to transfer, all our hard work getting a Large house etc, let alone if every FC member wants to move etc.

Hopefully we get more answers when they are reaching a final decision on where to place the server :)

I have to imagine they will move the Chaos data center across to the new servers. Not sure how much this will interrupt the service though. If they didn't there would be a huge commotion over people having to switch server, losing player housing, having to remake and rank up FCs any, losing friends lists and all that joy.

Hi. I play from Canary Islands. (Okay, closer than Africa, yes, jokes away...) And Lagg is not so badly with Canada or wherever Europe servers are located. (I have never eaten an area attack because it, this makes stronger my vision of that the 'lagg' is just a mere excuse for pro-elite guys when they can't withstand the pain of eating an AoE).

What I wonder is... Will it be worse if they properly move it to Europe at least for these islands? Because when I used to play shooters with servers located in Germany... I CLEARLY HAD DISADVANTAGE there, not happening the same (Thankfully) in FFXIV...

I just hope they'll at least locate it a bit closer, perhaps in London or Paris....

And no, I don't want it in Africa in case you wanted to joke it too. :3!

??? servers are unreachable for ping atm since they are offline.

I didnt mean right now :P I mean roughly 3 weeks ago when i was considering a server transfer and just waiting for funds. pinging moogle was 59 - 67ish and pinging midgardsormr (my current world) was around 98-110.

Oh thats strange. I was checking recently and all ping results were roughly the same for all servers.

Since your strictly referencing server locations, I get a 55ms ping to Diabolos (the server I'm on) from Oklahoma US. I know a lot of people have issues... but it *might* not *always* be on SE's end.

Me and my brother suffer from lag issues in Moogle. My brother constantly complains about moving out of red areas and still being hit. I don't complain that much, since I like the final fantasy series. But I bet in raids I will get super mad at it. Since we are pretty much playing a very hard mode, if NAs were normal mode.

Put the servers in Germany or Austria. Maybe Frankfurt or Wien.

"aiming to start in 2015" Sounds like it's planned to start with patch 3.2 around December but will get delayed to 3.3 around March next year.

edit: The "worlds to be established" has me somewhat worried, hopefully it's just awkward wording.
