Well, yes with the Soldiery tome gear they did. However, before that, the tome gear was the Myth i90 gear which was job specific.

i think thats what thell do like they did with2.38 allowing people to get sands and oil from ST, it would make sense for 2.5-part 2 to do the same for the new tomestone :D

Oh great... another drop only from Coil to upgrade gear which isn't aquired from Coil whilst HC'ers also get ilvlxxx Final Coil gear on-top of that... SE please stop having upgradable gear aquirable from Coil only, and not just until the next patch increment, or just get rid of the upgradable portion all together and have them as usual 5 ilvl's below Coil-tier so not to upset certain people...

Also will the Sands of Time still have any use on newer gear or is it now useless?

Except we'll most likely see everybody running around in the same gear soon, they better make them dyeable as well.

you don't need upgraded gear, for anything else than coil anyway. and coil would be pointless, if you could get same ilv gear, outside.
and because of new tomes, they didn't even have to add sands, outside of coil...cause now everyone can get ilv 120 stuff for free.
i'd guess sands will be useless like the rowena tokens for primal weps.

I actually dislike the color schemes and design if this is the new tomestone gear... it looks as if they're all within the same design. I REALLY DISLIKED the Soldiery gear, it was hideous, every single piece! I glamored over each piece I have for all my jobs, but... at least each of those and the mythology pieces were unique and different from each other in their own ways per jobs/classes. This just seems too uniformed together for all the jobs/classes as it seems right now, just doesn't really scream unique enough to me personally. :/ At least the design isn't as hideous as the Soldiery gear was @.@

Uniform is the right expression. They really remind me more of a 3rd coil set tbh with the futuristic look and all. I like it though.

they look great! i have never really been a fan of the whole "same color motif" i like that jobs have different colors like af... just simple. gonna rock these though cant wait!

That's why I said 5 ilvl's below Bahamut themed gear, also I like how you say "free" i120 stuff as if anything inside Coil is the only gear that has a price.

Anything is better than the Soldiery gear, the WHM looks nice. :3

edit. NVM. Just watched the trailer and its right at the beginning during the Shiva fight. Looks less like a cape and more like coat tails. Not a fan. Ill be sticking with my glamor over it i think.

Ive been straight disappointed with each incarnation of bard gear....im expecting this new one to be no different that's for damn sure.


Its like they totally just have a teenage girl go downtown Tokyo and tell her she can buy anything that looks nifty even if it doesn't match and that's what we get each and everytime.....

I agree, and on that note, has anyone been able to locate the bard gear as a picture? I am half expecting it to look like a cross between something Steven Tyler picked out the morning after a heavy drink fest and whatever David Hasselholf tossed up after getting that burger...

When I heard "Allagan Tomestone of Poetics", was I the only one who thought "That's a silly name that doesn't fit the naming scheme of the other tomestones. Why not Allagan Tomestones of Poetry? Why Poetics?"

Though I am curious how the new gear will actually look and if it will be dyable straight away or after it upgrades. Also, lore of the pieces pretty please.

Wait till we see it in real. The trailer has bad quality and and looks in the darker parts like a copy of a copy of a copy in VHS video time.

The same bad video quality we had with the coil2 trailer part too and I thought, "oh my god that gear looks awfull".

And now in the real game with realistic colors and correct light, I do think its one of the most beatiful healer set in the game and I love it:

The boots and cape look awesome. I can't wait to see the caster set.

The base designs are nice, not sold on the color choices but that's probably ultimately a non issue.
Cloth chest piece for paladin seems odd though.

If this are the new tome gears, then i am happy. They seems to fit both genders, something that soldiery failed to do in some cases. The drg soldier gear looks lame on males and cool on females.

Don't forget the Lorica chest piece which looks awful on females, with the hundreds of abs painted on it. It's a personal thing but I hate seeing that. I'm not keen on the healing solder gear for males, either. Funnily enough, I like the black mage gear on males though. It's quirky.

it somewhat follows the motif of the elite GC gear while being job specific.

I wishnwe would stop getting tomes that sound like college courses. But, at least it is better than that godawfu 2.3 gear and this upcoming coil gear.
