or you can go with 3 stats, and skip the IV materias, and save miliions...
20crit=1%crit chance=0,5% increase in power.
whichever way you split it, your overall power boost, won't exceed 2-3%
so ppl are wasting millions, for nothing.

You do know how weapons work, right? Weapon damage is incredibly important, followed by your class's primary stat (at a ratio of about 1:8). Secondary stats are about as strong to your primary stat as your primary stat is to weapon damage -- that is to say not very. Beyond that, the stats on your weapon are not special. Crit on your weapon is the same as crit on your boots. Accuracy on your weapon is the same as accuracy on your ring. There's no reason at all to spend a ton of money to put a surplus of any particular stat on your weapon when they could all be spread out between your entire gear set. Nexus weapons will gain the maximum number of stats when you restrict yourself to 2, however, this difference will be mitigated when the upgrade from Nexus rears its head, potentially granting more stat points to 3-stat weapons since it's all rounding. In any case, there isn't a single class who's BiS includes a full crit/det Nexus. It's never optimal, and given the customizable nature of it, you actually can make a BiS set from it, though it would include some acc, spell/ skill speed, and/ or piety.
I wouldn't call 25 fates an effort.
And to the people who got offended about me calling people lazy - I really didn't mean to offend anyone. I know some people aren't lazy, just had some bad luck. But I'm speaking out of experience. I've met so many people ingame who whined and bitched about the atmas without even doing any serious farm. They did 10 fates a day, got bored and started crying about the horrible drop rates. Others got serious about getting the atmas - they stopped complaining and started to farm. They all got their upgrade in less than a week. And I'm telling you, getting animus and then novus will take you way more than a week. The atma-relic is actually one of the fastest to do.
What I'm trying to say that the RNG in this isn't even the biggest issue. It's actually the peoples attitude.
As a girl who currently owns 36 Atmas and a Nexus, I think I may talk freely without being accused to be lazy or whatsoever.
I know the Atma system very well. I have a method to get a full set of Atmas within 20 hours or so, but I STILL find this system horrible and very bad designed, no matter what approach do I use.
So, well, even if I basically do not need Atmas anymore (at least, not so urgently 'cause I will use the other three sets for the only three jobs I really care about), I am very happy that they will improve the drop rates.
Hopefully we won't get any other shitty RNG quests in the future.
Animus may be longer, but at least you can always keep track of your progression which is a key point for every step. :)
They shouldn't make a content like this from the beginning. increasing the drop rates is just shortening the boredom. this quest should be remade completely and SE should have learned their lesson not to make content like this ever again.
Nexus worst part :<
But a close second is indeed actually DOING the animus books for me. Getting them was np wtf xD
Almost makes me want to make another Nexus. The timing of the nerf seems appropriate.
I wonder is 3.0 will have a new quest or will this one continue through the expansion???
For people like you, I am averaging 1.3% drop rate. 1600 fates 18 atma. 4-6 min per fate that's 5 to 6 hrs of farming per atma
I am okay with the grinding, which is why I still do this, but don't tell me rng is not a factor.i won't quit the game for any reason cause I love it, but this is horribly frustrating
Guessing it's from some live stream I missed, but where are people getting this info from?
Personally I think it was due a nerf, isn't exactly new content
As someone who has also gotten 36 Atma, with a Novus (almost Nexus) and another that I'm 30/75 toward Novus, I'm ambivalent toward this.
Like Billy said, there are definitely people out there (I have personally seen them in FC's I've been part of) that Atma farm for an hour and then quit, complaining about it like they put in real farming time.
On the flip side, I'm sure there are legitimate people who are having/have had a lot of trouble acquiring all 12.
I know that I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but I don't get why I should have to farm for something in the first place. It's no fun, no challenge, just a dumb painful waste of hours. I don't say that I am dedicating myself to farming or whatever, as some people like to say, but even the 3-4 hours I dedicated to this seemed like a complete waste when there are so many ways to have fun in this game. If they up the drop rate to more believable levels, I may think about doing it, but still... Terrible quest design.
I did get the ATMA of the scorpion on the very first FATE I did though, without even trying since it was the gentlemen's zombies of the Hildebrand quest >.>'
I think they should have made you instantly get an atma after completing 80ish fates or so. That way while you could get lucky, you will never fall behind for being unlucky.
But doubling the rate works too I guess.
I wonder what the base percent is that they are "doubling" because Doubling 1% is only 2%, not a huge difference and basically no point.
It needs to have some sort of length to gate it, considering it's part of an end-game weapon. The difference in Atma is that there's no tangible process that can be realistically controlled by how much time you invest into it (versus grinding for animus/novus tomes, or nexus light). Another issue that compounds onto it is how "old" that step of the relic is at that point; every other upgrade at that ilvl has been delegated to being catch-up (such as UAT and sands of time, if it wasn't enough they were made more accessible on the release of 2.3), while atma was left untouched for it's while the reward being weaker than the former upgrades. It wasn't the case for zenith back then, it had it's gate removed with the introduction of soldierly tomestones and it was available as a "catch-up" weapon at that point.
I'm glad they're increasing Atma Drop Rate, but they really should have put in a BETTER System, and this was the chance to do it, but they didn't. Something like:
1. Increase Percentage(%) Chance for Atma Stone drop for Every FATE in the Zone you've Completed, Until it Finally Drops.
Let's say the starting % Drop Rate is 1%. If you do a FATE and nothing drops, Square should add, say, +1% to your chance, so the NEXT FATE you do now has 2% chance. So at the most, you'd have to do 99 FATEs in the zone (+1% x 99 tries) to finally get your Atma Stone (if you had the worst luck).
This allows Yoshi P to keep that "Random Number Generator" / "Lottery" feel and grind (ugh), while providing a safety (and sanity) net for Players. So if you have bad luck, at least eventually you'll get the Atma to drop within a reasonable amount of time. The Actual # can be balanced to whatever feels fair (+2%, +5%, etc.).
2. Allow Any Player with an Atma, Animus or Novus version of the Weapon doing FATEs to still get a chance at Atma Drops.
This will *increase* the number of Players participating in FATEs around the world, since Animus / Novus players will want to farm for Alexandrite drop chances, *and* can work on their 2nd, 3rd+ Jobs' Atma Stones.
It's a Win-Win for everyone, and brings people back to doing FATEs a bit more than it is now.
Dev Team, please consider this fix. Thanks.
I still think it's dumb alex and atma only drop with that one phase of the weapon only.
It gives no reason at all to take part in Fates that you pass by. Several of those never get completed because a mass of players is required.
I have to second this, as somebody who has spent 12 hours in one of the zones and not gotten the atma there (before giving up on it), I'm very happy to see that they are increasing the drop rate. I don't mind a little bit of a grind but watching people get 1-2 full sets in the time it takes me to get 4 atma is very discouraging.
Don't understand why they can't be like beastmen tribe fates, where the item drops regardless. Of level, job.
Well, I'm not that far ahead considering I still need 64 more Alexandrites (more like 54... but I'm keeping those Allied Seals for now) but at least I got lucky enough to have gotten all the Atma after only 2 days of Fate-farming for them :3
Still gotta get that Oil and other stuff though meh ><
2% drop rate is like spit in your eye. Still boycotting the atma....
Bump up the Alexandrite drop rate while your at it...thanks :D
......I'm still not inclined to farm atma
I have 5..the other 7 have been hiding better than ninjas. Hence the reason I have decided to just buy gerolts masterworks.
The atma hates me, so no love in return. ;)
I'd also like to see an increased drop rate from the "hard" FATEs like Gorgachimera, Cancer and the cyclops in coerthas. Hardly ever see anyone doing these FATEs anymore.
What could really help is the implementation of a gauge of sorts, to further convince us players that we indeed do increase the chances of the Atma dropping with each and every FATE done. Till then, I'll stick to being on par with the best of em with my Soldery weapon. ( An' I dont mean in terms of stats either, so don't go there... )
Hopefully the new Tomes will have have weapons or at the very least another ___ of time to upgrade out soldiery weapons further
