Glamours is the real end game.

yeah I remember the bees they always wiped you haha I don't get it why they nerfed it. I know ppl complained every time they got pharos sirus and the tank left but is that really what the playerbase wants, dungeons we can finish while we are playing another game too or reading a book or browsing the web
I assume, since previous sources of mythology will now be sources of soldiery, that this is a measure to make it easier for new players/classes to obtain relevant endgame gear?
AF1 is level 50 [55 for body], AF2 is level 90, so that's a 40 level increase.
Next one should be 130... So...
Coil will drop level 130 AF3 gear which is class/job specific.
Tomestones will be used to buy lv 120 gear, which can be upgraded to level 130, and is not class/job specific (same gear for PLD/WAR or SMN/BLM or SCH/WHM).
Please look forward to it !
2.2:
1 deactivated tomestone
2 active tomestones
2.4:
1 deactivated tomestone
2 active tomestones
I don't see "more" currencies in 2.4
If it is like 2.2, the rate of earning soldiery/week post 2.4 would be lower than myth/week pre 2.4
I didn't understand why they did this in 2.2, I don't understand why they're doing it now. What's the point of getting rid of a currency to introduce a new one that works the same way, but goes by a different name?
Because that way you wont be able to stack your soldiery to 2000 to get a lot of loot from week 1.
Sounds logic to me.
Hope they keep the 120/130 levels and grant the 130 level to hardcore players at first. Just like 2.2. That way theres a way to distinct players skills.
And before you all start complaining about that, you will most likely be able to clear every non-hardcore content with 110 ilevel gear. So if you dont raid, you dont NEED higher power. You've got to DESERVE more power. Thats what I like.
I guess myth gear would be not a dungeon gear, because you can already get them with allied seals for cheap.
Investing all of this in Rowenas new house to make it more bigger ^^
Rowena started with a street shop during 1.0 (she alone, standing around in Ul'dahs street) and have now the biggest house in the game
Assuming they'll cost the same as sold gear, that'd be like two extra pieces on week one?Quote:

Sounds logic to me.
If you feel the need to have one extra ilvl two weeks before anyone else I guess that makes sense :/
I just hope that the things you could buy with myth now won't be drops from the new dungeons. Lately all i see is minimum and animal fat. I'm really tired of getting this kind of "loot"...
Still, i'm pretty sure that's what is going to happen - regardless of what yoshi has said so far.
Then why can't they just reset everyone's soldiery tomes the day of the patch so we start from 0? It still seems like a lot of unnecessary work for a couple of pieces of gear anyone can get on week 1 (and seeing as how this game is about working together, I'd never consider a party members with better gear than me anything but a welcomed help but hey that's me). Oooh he bought the chest and legs because he stacked soldiery and I didn't, big deal. I guess I must have spent it on something that I needed more so... I really don't see the problem.
Harder to get gear with Mythology? Because it's pretty easy to get Myth right now, or at least that tier of equipment using some combo of gear and allied seals.
Doesn't necessarily have to repeat the past exactly, perhaps they learned from their mistakes. Regardless, I wasn't playing during 2.2 so I wouldn't know. It just seems to me that if they are axing Mythology, then any time you would have earned Myth you will now earn Soldiery instead. What used to be bought with Myth will now be bought for a rather low amount of Soldiery. What is already bought with Soldiery, even if it stays the same cost, will be easier to get because those tomestones will come more easily. And whatever the new tomestone type is, will essentially come at the rate Soldiery comes now, give or take however they want to structure the new content and rewards.
But at any rate, it's just a guess on my part. Surely they must be trying to manage the gear treadmill in a way that softens the grind for older tiers, otherwise newer players/classes will just take longer and longer to get to current content.
Things you can do with Myth before they go away, in the order that I will be doing them:
- Grab the three myth minions if you haven't already ([0-3]*30).
- Finish any Atma Books you have left to do, if any ([0-9]*1,500).
- Buy 3X vials of Superior Enchanted Ink, where X = the number of relics you plan to get through the Atma grind (only one for me, I think) ([0-10]*1,500).
- Buy X bottles of Quenching Oil, where X = number of retainers plus one, storing one on each retainer, up to the number of relics you don't have yet (including the one for Ninja) ([0-10]*225).
- Buy 3X bottles of Thavnarian Mist, where X = the number of relics you don't have yet (including the one for Ninja) ([0-10]*900).
- Buy one piece of each Myth gear that you like the look of, or just one piece of everything you don't have yet since the Equipment Guide is coming at some point (varies).
- Convert all remaining Myth into either GC Seals by buying Myth accessories and turning them in (1k GC Seals per 375 Myth).
At least, that's what I'll be doing with mine! Anything I missed that's worth doing?
yeah I used all my empathy on things that actually matter, not a videogame, sorry :/
Actually .. it isn't. I check the market board every time i get something and rarely i find something whose value is higher than 700gill (and these mats drop in very low quantities).
Anyway, fine. I can't ignore crafting: if i want to gear my secondary class up i can't count on dungeons, if i want a specific glamour i need to repeat the same new dungeons for ages (it took less to get the foestriker, the acolyte and the battlemage sets) and new players or people levelling up alts can't catch up quickly enough because the chances of dropping gear and improving your item level are less than when i started the endgame phase.
So can you convert mythology into soldiery?
What I read here is "I don't want to stack up on tomes so take away the tomes from those that do want to." How does that even make any sense at all? You get out of it what you put into it. You put in effort to cap tomes, you get more soldiery after the conversion and therefore more gear. As far as how quickly people gear up, I know I personally already have one class at i109 and am working on my alt classes now. There are times I want to do something different. The faster I can get them geared up, the faster they are usable and relevant in the new content.
Soldiery will be the new myth, and something else capped will be the new soldiery. The more things change the more it is the same. I am not sure why they can't reprice the token exchanges. I suppose new currency is fun to play with, but it is not like there is even paper money to look at all the neat holograms.
Check out all the fancy new currency in real life:

It would nice to able to actually hold gil coin and look at it and flip it, and the same for myths and soldiery. And so you can do a emote "/flipcoin" for when you need a quick and easy RNG.
Myth was initially made hard to get after it was uncapped, they did some updates to myth drops at 2.25 that made myth more common.
There seems to be a misunderatanding. You can stock up 2k myth, and 2 soldier and buy 2500 soldiers worth of items right away. You can't convert anything to the new tombstone so no one gets to start with more of the new gear then anyone esle. Everyone starts at 0. I have blm at i110, war at i101, and drg at i100. So soldiers on the first day doesn't brake anything, especially since it becomes farmable. In fact it will help the current players who choose to try ninja, which is already gimped in the fact you can't prebuy the books for it and you still have to light farm for nexus, ntm the next stage of the weapon
bye bye mythology, ill miss you for all the items you paid for, for all the crafting items you got me, and the mystery maps /tear
...It's official. Someone at SE has finally lost their marbles. I knew it had to happen eventually. It's clearly the stress of having to please thousands of players and being unable to keep everyone satisfied. Hopefully their insanity can be cured with some time off and a nice relaxing onsen, but I fear the damage may already be permanent.
What... the... actual... heck?
Tomes are becoming a joke. Not in the funny 'haha' sense, but in the stupid, retarded kid brother sense. You know, the one who likes to lodge Lego bricks up each nostril and chews the edge of your couch just to feel the texture. I think the person who came up with these changes shares the same sense of logic at least.
Why do they constantly need to throw out the baby with the bath water? Philo tomes were fine, Myth tomes are fine. You want to add a new item? STICK IT IN SOLDIERY! The cap is already there, and you can 'rebrand' all of the weathered gear under Myth tomes. Keeps the status quo and doesn't make a mess.
Do we even need to point out the major flaws in this? They seem to be doing a pretty good job of that by repeating the same stupid mistake they made when they removed Philosophy tomes. When you're basically repeating the same tired update as last time, you clearly messed up. Give us a break SE and try to be original!
meh, same old cycle..
Love people who are getting so heated over the fact that they are adding a new currency... we will still be dealing with 2 types... what's the big deal here?
