The 4th of nov feels strong with this one.. I knwo everytime I have expected a patch date its always much farther than I thought it would be. So it will most likely be the 4th

Pshh hijacking my thread to shamelessly plug the fan fest. And not even giving us a hint. Ooorrr did he. Just by posting here we know one of the dates we picked is the true date my plan has worked!!! Now we just need to narrow it down to the correct date.

If they schedule them like they did the XI Fan Fests then it will be once a year. In the same area. Had a friend cancel this week due to work it's sad he can't do anything but lose the money since you can't transfer the tickets after August 30th. /sigh so sad.

I'm betting on the 28th. It makes most sense. Everyone will be done with the fanfest and be able to enjoy it with all the great memories from the fanfest along with all the hype. I'd be surprised with if landed on the 21st because that would screw up all the people that are going to the EU fanfest from playing it and later makes even less sense since it would kill the buzz.

Im in the same boat - got so much holiday saved (no clue why I haven't used it) and I have to use it by the end of the year :/

If this patch comes out on the 21st of october, i am going to make a forum post titled HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

and the main pages me going to be singing happy birthday followed with "now lets all be ninjas" :D

... i like ninjas.. and its like when you were 4 or something and they ask what do you wanna be when you grow up i just imagen most of us went NINJAHHH :D

Well - here's my "crazy" prediction / guess: Not earlier that 21st ... DUH! ... but - December! As many of you're deducting it will be after the fan fests:

I highly doubt it will be December, that would make it 6 months since the last "major patch" - not really something SE wants to do..

so far yoshi-p and his team have made each patch 3 months apart because the "hardcore" will start getting bored of whats in the patch 2.3 while the casual will start finding it near difficult if not impossible to join in the hardcores, the 3 months comes in at the right time giving the hard cores the insentive to do the last patch things until they get there loot while letting the casuals in, then once thats done for the next 2 months they will be working on getting to the next step, if they waited 6 months the game's end point would be at a virtual standstill with people with all there high allagahn for most if not all classes and no real test to use them :3

Second one is I believe Chinese release dates.
Third row is for the release of the Korean version, which is launching the game starting at 2.3.

all of you saying the 21st is wrong, 21st we will hopefully get all saints wake event but patch wont come until 28th because they wont screw over players going to EU fanfest.

28th will be tough too, since yoshida is at an event in Fukuoka the 27th (source)

and about the people saying thet people at the fanfest will be screw, sorrry, but it's different matter. they will not hold the content for a small part of the community that did decide to go there and meet them, while getting tons of stuff. sorry but i don't see why this people must be more important than thet most part of the community.

It probably will be mid/late week like on the 23rd or the 30th, last time 2.3 was released on a Thursday IIRC. Even the 31st is still October, see they would totally make their promised month date.

they will do it the tuesday because of the reset of the week, simplier for them to change all and start fresh than do it in middle of the week.

Screw over players how exactly? It's not like missing a day of a newly patched game is akin to having their firstborn kidnapped. People will live missing a day of their game.

"screw over"..how can you screw over a handful of players with a patch release? lol. Everyone has access to the same game.

Like 2.3, it will likely land the first or 2nd week of November (4th month instead of 3rd month.)

That's just the time limit to log on so the game can deliver the items to you. If you log on after midnight the 23rd you won't get it. It's not the patch.

I reckon the patch will be released on the 28th, but now I have been wondering about something else. What if they are going to release the patch near the release date of the new WoW expansion? I mean this happens often in mmorpg's they release a patch or expansion near the release date of another mmorpg.

I hope the 28th of October, but I fear we might get it in November.

they did a presentation in china showing the 2.4 for october, stop with the 2.4 will come out in november, actually the best course for them is the 21th, like this people that will come to the fanfest of london will focus mostly on the expansion and they have time between the two fanfest (las vegas and london) for the 28, they have the fanfest of london that start the 25 and finish the 26, the 27 they are at a live event in japan, that leave them with an extremely heavy planning if it the 28, the 21 seems more calm.

The 21st is in 5 days. Isn't that a bit soon with no announcement of a maintenance date? It's gonna be the 28th or the 4th.

Remember: They initially stated 2.0 would release in Dec 2012/Jan 2013. Yoshida also said originally golden saucer was slated for 2.3 - Square Enix also said Versus XIII would be out in 2012. Point is: Square Enix and Yoshida says a lot of things.

you don't do a recent presentation in china and say something happend and don't do it after, they are not microsoft hehehe

the patch is in october, not in november, you can be sure of this.

i dunno if it will be the 21th, but it seems the most calm moment they have in the october, like i have said before the 25-26 fanfest to london (yoshida will the present) and the 27 he is at a japan even in Fukuoka, you can't be the director/producer and not be present the day before a patch for make the last check up with the team. the fanfest to las vegas end the 19th, it leave him the time to get back in japan and check with the team if everything is up.
but i can be wrong, however, they will not announce the downtime before the official announcement of the 2.4 and it's not the first time that we do have a live letter right before the patch...actually it did happend 2 times in the past. they tend to keep secret the arrival of the patch until the last minute.

They wouldn't release a trailer right before a fanfest, they are trying to amass as much "content" for a fanfest as they can. Which means those at the fanfest will be the first to see a patch trailer. It is just a timing thing. Gotta please all those who are dishing out the cash to attend the fanfest.

Actually - based on FFXI history (same company and dev team) they would release trailers before the fanfest, what they normally would do is release more during the fanfest. The trailers prior to it is to drive up the hype for the fanfest (Hey more info here!) not the other way around :p
