Hard truth, is that you don't want know why people leaves. The last diaspora I witnessed, was almost all raid members go in another FC because we were starting our progress while they already had t9 on farm status. Easy things are better, for someone. But then they found on their skin that elite FC wants elite players, and got trashed out or put in b-side groups. Get served.
When I first started playing, I left an FC within a week of playing. It was nothing personal, I just didn't fit in/gel.
Sometimes it's not your fault as a FC leader, different strokes for different folks. Some people bounce around until they find there people, and I don't see anything wrong with that at all. Theres no ownership on players, if someone not enjoying themselves they should peacefully leave (thats what I did, no drama, no goodbye comment) One tip of advice I can give is this: try your best to include the "fringe" players in events or dungeon/raid/primal runs or just anything you can to make them feel welcomed. One of the things I see to an unhealthy FC is when there is an "inner circle" (lets keep it real, every FC has that inner circle thats hard to crack into) starts to pull away from the new members and fringe FC members. The bigger that gap is, the worst your FC is gonna be in general, because they will still start to feel unneeded/lost/unwanted and just leave.
Hmmm. I never thought I'd be part of a FC or a LS - this being my first MMORPG and I always considered myself a lone wolf.
But that changed even in beta3. Was part of a LS that later formed into a FC. And it was fun at first but then some people started rushing through and it just wasn't me anymore
so I let the FC leader know I'll be leaving - he understood my reasons and we are still friends to this day(infact he is one of the two still left originally).
Then I joined some FC that was made of former members but that lasted a total of 3 weeks before nobody was on anymore. So left and then responded to a random recruitment shout and had a chat with that person.
The chat helped me decide on joining that FC and I was in that FC until end of April. It was a nice FC, helpful, friendly etc... but there was some underlying tone in there that I couldn't place my finger on.
We lost some of the more prominent members over the time. Like one here and one there. Until in the end most of the original crew(from my understanding was gone).
Then something happened and one thing led to another and the core(second in command and officerrs)(by this time I was part of that core) of the FC left due to disagreement and behaviour of the FC lead.
It hurt a lot to do what we did. But trust has been lost on both ends. Once that happens there isn't much you can do to salvage things.
We started our own FC with the previous second in command accepting leadership role but hooking all the rest of us as her council.
Since then have seen people come and go. It hurts a bit inside each time they do leave. But the small joys of seeing people come and progress outweight that a lot of the time. We also look at helping them along, even though most of the council enjoys raiding we try to include members or encourage them to start their own groups or find their own groups. We do this with having a LS where smaller FCs and other friends of the FC can talk to do stuff. We will ask for people to help out when we are down a person or two(or more). Our leader is a very non raid focused person and she didn't even have CT unlocked or done. We got her and a lot of others in the FC to help her out and do it then we got her to ST in the next week. The whole FC was happy for her. We are focused on helping our members and other players and we encourage our members to do the same.
We do strive to contact each person that leaves for their reasons. And a lot are simply I found some of my RL friends are playing and have their own FC. Some simply look for different things. Some will be forever wanderers.
I have come to enjoy the ups and downs. Their joys and their frustrations. It makes a FC a living breathing being. And it's what it makes it worth it in the end.
I bumped into this thread by mistake in search of the possibility of future server merges. I can empathize with the OP as Coeurl is dying a slow death people have quit the game or transferred.This week we lost a whole raid group who transferred to Gilgamesh looking for greener pastures. Arguably, they were core veteran members - I do feel its left us a bit broken. I havent been the FC leader for a while. I passed the role to fresher set of eyes (while still assisting as an advisor).I would like to think that I still try my best to make everyone's stay as pleasant as possible within realistic boundaries.Is it so wrong to feel attached to something you put so much effort into?
Every time someone leaves it does hit you in the feels a bit particularly if even after the relationships built they don't even bother saying goodbye but what can you do? The show must go on for those that are still around. Chin up OP. We have all been there in one way or another and we will all make it out : )
This is kinda why i prefer advisory roles over absolute leadership roles, and prefer smaller more tightly knit gaming groups.
I've joined some FCs with whose leader I was friends with. Then parted ways cause they had some racist officers or lack of active players or some other reasons.
I'm still friend with those FC leaders.
Of course they were sad that I left, but there was no other way for me to find happiness.
You can't fullfil everyone's desires. You can be 'friend' with all your FC mates, doesn't mean THEY will dig each others.
