I feel you! I reaaaaally wanna switch to a male toon, but I have a female name.

No because it's the best name.
I'd love it if they set up a namingway item in mogstation like they did for fantasia. Granted its a limited system until they set up a better way.
Technicality the OCG name for Lightsworn is "Lightlord".
Ontopic. No I don't regret my character name, but then again I doubt I'm gonna be changing species/gender anyway.
I picked the name because I like Auroras and because it'd fit into Lalafell's naming conventions with a little fudging. I think I may have based her design around it, with hair colors evoking the twilit sky and heterocromatic eyes loosely colors after the common colors of the auroras
Yes.
And unfortunately I play on Jenova, so can't use the transfer trick to get a rename (transfer out, but not back in). Just hoping we get some kind of paid name change at some point similar to Fantasia - it'd seem to make sense given the whole ability to change your race/gender, get married (eventually), etc....
Final Spark?
Nope. Fits me and people make funny jokes in raid/ dungeons.
My character names are made up from songs, movies, newspaper articles and many other things - don't usually regret them. As long as anyone can more or less read and spell it relatively easy it's a good name.
Sometimes i get tells from people asking if im from the Orient , because apparently my name sounds orientalic^^
the last name is from game name generator
Ramen is still on F. Roe's name. now he is a m. kitty :O
Nope. I got Kaelah from my WoW characters name. I wanted to call her Kayla but it was taken so I got creative with the spelling. My surname Tae, comes from my XI character Taeyu. Everyone called her Tae. I like how it almost has a tribal feel to it. I didn't like how it looked with the ' K'aelah. So I left it out. I'm kinda disappointed to see that another character on another server has my same name now though, I was proud of it being my own creation. ; ; lol.
Hell no, I am hot to the touch and i will unpredictably explode without warning.
I am happy with my name. At first I wanted to make a Lalafell with your typical Lalafell names. Since with this game, you can be 1 character all classes, I had to make sure that my name would suit both genders and all races. With the new expansion bringing in a new race, I know 95% that I will be tempted to race change and with a gender/race neutral name, I wont have to fear that my character name will not fit my ingame character. :p
My character first name is Yuki, which has been my mmorpg name for the past 5 years and the surname Phantomhive comes from the surname of a character in one of my favourite manga's called Kuroshitsuji or Black Butler
I spent probably a good twenty hours just mulling over character names. Finally, I decided on one I was truly happy with.
Up until the first dialogue in the game, when a playful female NPC exclaimed 'Ooooh, papa! <3' And then I realized that I had made a HUGE mistake.
There should be a name change option by now. Like in almost all games. I bet the dev team is working on it but it's not top priority. Fantasia got delayed. Name change should come next.
I used to run one ;)
As for my name, I don't regret it at all. I know it's not 'correct' if you go by the anime the name is taken from (last name slightly different), but it's not a typo, and I prefer it this way. I've been using the same few names ever since my first MMO, and I always try to make the character's appearance fit with the name.
I used to be hyur then switched to miqote 2 months ago. I wish I had a lore friendly name, but oh well.
I love my characters names for the most part. There is one I wish could be different but when I tried to make the character it wouldn't let me have it. I looked on the lodestone to see if it was taken but it wasn't on any server.
I've seen you around Cactuar before and I've never once thought of said male toy.
Have I ever regretted my name? Hell to the no! My name is awesome!
Seeing your name my first thought was not of a toy. Obviously those who make that reference must have one handy at their side while playing. I could think of a few choice comments for them as to how they know about it, as its not like its advertised in the main stream media. Getting many pop-ups on your PC screen? Wonder which sites you frequent?
As for my name all I can say is:

Lol Yolanda!
I have no Ragrets either. I have been and will always be Synestr. This is however the first time I have had to pick a last name...which threw me off. Took me like 5 mins to think it over. To go with my personal backstory and all(char wise). Duskwight Elezen that is actually Wildwood by birth but was hidden with the Duskwight due to his regal status. Parents were killed in front of me when I was 5 and our house maid Sherie brought me to her clan, where I taken in, raised and taught the ways of the Duskwight and educated on the history of my clan and family. Hatred and vengeance burned within me with the goal of one day meeting face to face with with the Garlean criminals that perpetrated the act. Through time I was taught the folly of these emotions, and was given a new path. I am a protector, defender of Eorzea. To those that seek to oppress it's people I will strike them down. I will bring them down like a flame to a field, I am the Ashbringer.
LOL, geekspew 9>9
Oddly enough when I made this name I had no Idea it was in reference to a weapon from WOW as I never played wow...From time to time players will bring that up, and I don't know where to go with it lol.
But at any rate, I likes my name!

My name Yuki Shiku is original to this game as my normal handle "Leon Blade" would not make sense on my female Miqo'te, it's also a bit ridiculous. My first name Yuki(雪) is Japanese for snow and my character attributes with ice, plus it's a cute name. Shiku is a mix between Shiro and Kuro (white and black) like a good and evil, it describes my normal (good) blue eye and my evil yellow eye, similar to characters in anime that have one odd eye for various reasons.
I like the name personally, and have no regrets over it. If you look up my name on lodestone, I'm the only person to have it, so I feel like it's a name with meaning and expression while still being fun and easy for people to remember and also unique.
I'm very happy with it.
The only thing that occasionally bugs me is that "Kai" is a popular name, both first and last. Which is only a problem when someone says "Kai" and could mean either/any of us.
My reason for choosing Kai is better than theirs, though.
"'Enter name? Hehehe, gonna put 'Zoosmell Pooplord'. There's no way that's EVER gonna stop being hilarious!"
*Three days later...*
"Why won't SE get off their duffs and give us Namingway Cards already! Gawd."
I don't regret my name; it's a mostly-lore-friendly Hellsguard name (I say mostly, because apparently most Hellsguard ladies choose a plant or flower for their second name - but not all) that I made from an anagram of the letters in my real life name. I have no plans to change my race, but if I did it'd be nice to have the option to change my name to something more lore-friendly for that race.
I hate my name. It was meant to read "Eight Fates," which is just supposed to be casually ironic (in that fate implies there is only one outcome, but if I have 8 of them....mind blown! I know, I'm a loser).
Instead, people read it as: "I hate FATEs," which I don't. I don't really have a strong opinion on them one way or the other, and I made this character at launch without knowing that FATEs were a thing. I would change it in a second, and I have like 6 other names I'd like to change it to.
I don't regret my name in the slightest. I made it up 15 years ago and I've been using it in all games that give me the option to input a name of my choosing.
I'm good with my names, but there are other aspects of my characters I would like to change. When I restarted after ARR, I didn't realize that choosing a different class was going to dump me into an entirely different city-state. I started my character in Limsa in 1.0. I just reactivated that character when ARR hit, and was given a choice of "Starting class" which most of them were already somewhat leveled, and instead of marauder since I had already done that one, I picked Dragoon.
Is it a huge deal now? No, but I still cringe every time I open my character sheet and see Gridania instead Limsa. I chose a female roe for a reason, and it wasn't to dance among the flowers and trees. I wish they would let us change that. At this point there's too much work in my main to roll another char, but I'd gladly part with a few dollars for my own personal lore.
I regret my name a bit. What it means is so...dumb. To those who know its meaning, it seems like I'm a 13YO girl. I'm 18 and male. I've grown used to being called Aku (I had the same name in TERA) but if I could I'd change the last name to something else.
Nah, I like my name, which I figure isn't half bad when I split up my general username and just flipflopped the end to the front.
Sure, sometimes I wish Riaa was more lore friendly but I don't really know if she's that far off from proper moon-cat. I don't plan on changing race either.
Besides, rolling out more alts is fun, they can be lore friendly even if Riaa isn't!
no but seriously I have a alt problem send help.
I don't regret my name too much. It has a couple references I like, one is me just being a huge Norse mythology nerd(Rymr) and the other is a throwback to my roleplaying days(Dragomir), I also use "Rymr" for pretty much every main character of mine for about 3 years now. I do regret that very few people can spell it properly and seem to think I mind being called "Ry"(I don't).
Nope.
Sorry that people took the fun out of your name though. You really should report them if it makes you uncomfortable though.
I like my name but I would love to have an option to change it at some point, since I would love to try changing my character to a male Lala, maybe I will go with female.
Nah. My name isn't lore-friendly, but it's a name I've been using online for several years now (I've been through several of them; most of them are female as I'm a girl irl, but my last game had a gender lock and that kind of broke me as far as playing female characters goes). I mean, my character is a Miqo'te away from his tribe living the life of an adventurer. I'm sure there's a lore-friendly reason that he has a non-Miqo'te name.
Well, if you're thinking of transferring servers anyway, then the workaround of forcing a name change by creating a name conflict on your destination server doesn't have the drawbacks for you that it does for those wanting to stay on their current server. Just before putting in for the server transfer, create an alt on the new server you plan to move to and name that alt Marcella Cat. After that, when you move your main character there, she can't have the same name, so you'll be prompted to change it.
I think to do it yourself might require having a standard subscription (the type that allows you to have multiple alts on the same server). If you have a basic subscription, then you might not be able to transfer to a server where you already have an alt. So if that's the case, just let us know where you want to transfer to and one of us could create that alt for you.
Regret the name? Nope, not at all.
Hate the fact I cant use special characters to emphasize how its actually pronounced thanks to SE using an archaic typeset? Very.
Covârleasa - Sounds like: COE-vair-LAY-suh, and NOT... COE-var-LAY-suh.
But nope, couldnt use the â in game so...... Just call me "Cova"....
GW2 lets you use special characters just fine, but not SE, nope, nosiree.... bleh.
