No, the zerg always forgets that they aren't the only ones using the content. The idea is that if you're not a part of said group, you get ostracized, even if the people in the large group don't intend to. Like say an FC group, of say 2-3 parties finds an S rank and starts taking it down, what would the zerg do? How would they feel? How would some of them treat that group?
There's been examples on these very forums about our very server, of this happening. Of people not being able to do the content until they joined said zerg.
Hunting was bad on Moogle when it started, but it's largely calmed down now. Sure you still get ninjas, but people mostly just accept that now instead of shouting expletives at them. I had a fun experience in North Shroud last night where we made a running gag out of the B-rank mark that kept getting killed while we scouted for the A (and made a token attempt at spawning the S). I wasn't even in a party; this all happened in the shout channel. Then again that was out of peak hours... I wouldn't say that everyone tries to limit their damage, but people seem to know to try and take healers and tanks if possible to build more enmity and get a higher contribution.
I agree that B's should replace FATEs on the dailies as well, making A's the weeklies. I've also suggested a couple times that everyone in a mark holders party get rewarded for downing an A, say 30 seals to the mark holder and 5 to everyone else. That encourages co-operation and socialization, teaming up with 7 other people to hunt down 8 marks every Tuesday.
If they made As the weeklies with no other changes, we'd be right back where we were. No, wait, it would be worse than it was before. Not to mention, people have complained that they have no reason to zerg down Bs anymore, what do you think would happen if they did that to As?
Let me point out, I don't really care what they do with them. I personally have little use for seals.
Just saying what would happen if they did that to As. You would get threads of people complaining that they only have S ranks to zerg down. Not those words of course, but that's what the complaints about the B change boiled down to.
Anyone who complains about B's being ruined is just butthurt that seals are harder to get now. They weren't worth going after anyway when they got zerged in 5 seconds, no-one would ever get any credit.
And when I said that A's should be made the weeklies, I meant that they should not drop rewards except to mark-holders and their party members and have their respawn dropped to, say, 5 minutes. Maybe keep the possibility of them dropping a Hunting Log even if you don't have the mark, although the only thing I think a zerg rush should be any good for is S ranks, where the damage they do to the hunting experience is limited. Heck, they might even help fulfil the spawn trigger.
Oh, I agree. It's just those complaints were shared by many zerg group members. Even if not everyone in said zerg felt that way, there was enough of them to cause problems.
First bolded part. Refer to what I said earlier about having to be part of the zerg. Second bolded part. Not everyone is like that, not to mention, just by virtue of there BEING a zerg, reduces the chance for any given person to get full credit. Lastly the other issue is people frowning upon people not using a tank or healer.
I feel ppl only pull the monsters fast so they can beat the godly lag that comes with waiting sadly :(
You find an S rank and think it best to simply go for it with your 2-3 teams with your FC when in fact so many more people can easily partake in its rewards. Seems rather selfish to me.
Furthermore, you're on Excalibur. You should know full well nobody gets ostracized and everyone is able to simply log into the TS and get into a party almost right away usually. If not, simply finding a mark and shouting it usually leads to someone from the TS group making a big deal about making sure the person who found it is invited to a party.
It's essentially a problem for someone who chooses to do something the hard way, and then complains that people who have made it incredibly efficient and rewarding are doing better than them.
Don't try to paint a picture where an organized server hunt group is evil or inconsiderate when the reality is the exact opposite. The only people who are "suffering" are the ones who are adamant in going against the established flow because they feel the design "isn't the way it was intended, or should be in their opinion" when in fact the community of players determine the way content will be handled just as effectively as the developers in many cases. Yoshi P said himself that although the team may envision a certain playstyle when designing content, they never really know what the players will make of it until it's released, and then their job is to find a compromise.
White Knights gonna White Knight.
Hunts are a faulty design, made terribly, that encourages a lot of bad behavior, even people from your supposed "perfect" server is telling you that is not such, not to mention the rest of the whole server, not to mention how even japanese players don`t like the whole thing. Hunts are bad, and encourage players to behave in not a good way, if you dont become part of the zerg, you are out of the game, and that is bad design here and in north korea. Stop trying to justify it. SE needs to fix the whole thing, B change actually just hurted the hunts.
/thread.
Hunts are what they are because of the reward. It's nothing more, nothing less. Nerf the reward, hunts go away. I personally like the rewards hunts give, because who doesn't like awesome rewards with little risk? :P The only "risk" in hunts is player greed and the race against time to get there to get credit - can people wait? On ultros, a "long" wait is about 30 seconds after announcement. I've even seen people drop dungeons just for a S rank. "I did it all for the loot, come on, the loot, come on, so you can take the dungeon and stick up your yea, stick up your yea, stick it up your yea"
