Poeple complaining about prices in a free market. Unbelievable!
Sounds like I need to sell some fruit
Why you complaining I know for damn sure, if you could grow fruit to paint chocobo's you would be selling them for the same exact price making the same gil.
So basically you made this thread for what? Saying people are making gil and I am not and if I am not SE please do something about it.
You DON'T have to dye your chocobo NOW. End of problem. :p
But j/k aside, I think a lot of the limited supply issue related to FC only items *may* go away when personal housing gets introduced. A lot of the current FC only features can also be available on personal housing levels.
Personally, I strongly believe personal housing will just be a mini-size version of an FC house w limited features. But we will have to wait and see on how SE will implement it.
The first day snacks started harvesting (got a few hundred myself because I planted with Shroud soil on that hope) I was handing them out for free to people in Limsa Lower Decks, because I was mad that the market value on them was higher than the 5k each I had originally anticipated. But then I realized many people were throwing dozens of them at their chocobos at a time with no clue what they were doing, and decided that encouraging that wastefulness was a greater crime. Now I'm making gil hand over fist. I flip-flopped my stance on the foods. It could happen to anyone too.
People know what they are doing, or at least getting an understanding of it. There are a lot of color combos coming out and people are duplicating the results.
The issue here is, most of the time you have to feed your chocobo 10+ fruit just to get one color scale change, and you often have to feed as much as 40-60 fruits to achieve the result you desire. That isn't players not knowing what to do, but it is how SE programmed it.
Its a new system that just came out, of course its going to expensive as hell for those who don't have a FC true to its members. This might be a good thing really as there seriously tons of FCs claiming all to be helpful yet here we are. Find an FC that really does care about the people within it and move on. Otherwise wait it out for a little while and let the rush die down.
Stop being poor, it is a luxury good.
Please don't start the undercut wars. I'm making millions from my FC home for once. I hope everyone on my server aims for a black chocobo, then changes their mind and goes for white instead.
I sold one lemon at 175k. I thought the price was a joke... but people BUY it.
OCCUPY EORZEA!!!
No, they have a built in bias against greed and elitism.
ALSO: All of you claiming this is basic free-market capitalism working as intended? No, no it's not. Some content is arbitrarily difficult to produce and/or arbitrarily limited in production ability/cost by RNG, etc. Plus, money enters this economy from nowhere (gil drops, etc) This is not a true free market.
Damn the man, always trying to bring the Lalafell down.
Why would I put up an item for 5,000 when someone will buy it for 125,000? And like others have said, you can join a FC that will let you garden. If you can't find one, then create one. If this is truly a problem and you are not in the solo minority then you should be able to find like minded players to found a FC for it. There are good FCs out there. There are FCs that will let you garden. If you're not in such one, then what FC are you actually in?
You should not have envy of other players simply because they have more gil then you. That is what this is really about. You look on the market board, see the fruits for what you think is an outrageous price. But someone else comes along and buys it without a second thought. If that wasn't happening, the prices would come down. Its not like a select few FC's have a monopoly on fruits. Anyone with a FC can do this, and there is 1 FC for every 4 characters in this game.
But the fact is, someone with more gil now has their chocobo a color they want it to be. Yours is still yellow. That makes you think you didn't get a fair shot. It makes you envious. It makes you jealous, and hence upset. This is when you start with the insults of calling people greedy and extortionists. That couldn't be further from the truth. What is really happening is people are feeling out the market and trying to get compensation for their trouble.
Right now the fruits are new, they are desired, and hence call for some high prices.
When Skyrim came out, it was listed at $60. For me, it wasn't worth that much. For me it was worth $35. So I waited till the Xmas sale 2 months after it was released. At no point in time did I ever call the publisher's of the game greedy. At no point in time did I ever grow envious of friends or strangers who bought it at full price. I was content to wait. Same thing with these fruits.
I don't think they are worth more than 5k gil. I really don't. But I'm not going to fault anyone for spending that much. I'm not going to call the sellers greedy. The market is what it is. It has no soul, it has not sentience, it only is. There's no reason to get emotionally attached to the issue. There's no reason to get upset at others over it. And no one should judge others based on the market.
As for suggestions capping prices on the market board.. what would that accomplish? All that would do is encourage sellers to use another currency and forgo using the market board. You want to see prices get to outrageous levels when you have to purchase things using rare dungeon drops as currency? Well limiting the market is one way to do it.
What people are currently doing is price skimming which is something that we come by a lot in real life as well, if you can earn something at a higher price why sell it for less?
Everyone is not entitled to every new feature in this game.
Wait a week or two when the market crashes or start working for the gil to buy it now. Plain and simple.
I want lotus pink and nobody has found it yet. I'm going to wait and let the market calm down as once people have what's they want, demand will drop and so will the prices.
wow, glad my FC doesn't suck....we've been growing fruit for our members since the stuff came out....sounds like some of you need to find better FC's. GL
Like how the OP says it's long overdue...what!? It just released! A total of 2 players in my FC have changed their choco colors, the rest of use are waiting while we stockpile so we know how to get the colors we want. The fruit on the market right now is very limited so obviously they would be absurdly overpriced. Give it time and the price will go down as the supply matches up with the demand. Eventually these fruits are going to be dirt cheap....
Fed up of seeing this kind of argument, my FC has garden access for everyone (except trial members). Get a better FC and stop assuming FC leaders are hogging all the FC functions for themselves, just because yours is. -eye roll-
Side note, Doman Plumes were 20k yesterday on my server, now down to a consistent 7k. Pointless, impatient OP.
We have a small FC and I'm the one that 'controls' the garden plot.
By that I mean I foot the cost of all the berries, soils (someone started helping me with these at least), and provide Chocobo food for free to everyone in the FC normally. As soon as this started I began to grow and sell things, helping to drop the market over time - the fc came to an informal agreement that it's FAR better to let me sell all the fruits we have now (as I looove to help kill market prices) and make as much as possible before it becomes worthless to sell them. They can wait for chocobo colors, we all can wait!
Most of the reason is most of this Gil goes directly into the FC via crafting and more; even to funding a bigger house and replanting the garden which IS NOT CHEAP. Sounds like bigger issue with people's FCs over anything else to me.
I feel so rich these days :D
That sucks for people in an FC that doesn't want to help :(
I'm in a 45 man one, but the person that mainly did any gardening footed a lot of upfront costs of seeds and soils, then made all her money back and gave everyone different combinations of fruit to try to get them what they wanted.
Maybe if you get a bunch of your FC people together and ask the leader together to help they would be more inclined to listen to the mass as opposed to an individual? Idk. Apologies. :(
It's not that my fc doesn't want to help out our members. It's that we literally have 300+ active members right now. Even if we were to fill both plots with seeds, there's no way we would be able to cater to every single person's demands. So in my FC we've decided to forgo planting chocobo dyes for now until we can come up with a solution that is fair to everyone. And trust me, we're not hoarding anything. Since FC gardens were released, our policy hasn't changed. We've always grown stuff in the gardens to bolster our company coffers. This policy hadn't been an issue until SE started releasing things like thav onions etc that really should be in personal gardens instead of an FC garden. :/
