Hunts are the best thing to happen to XIV's community since launch

I've played this game more because of hunts than anything lately.

YOUR community in your mind does not = Gilgamesh. It ='s the Hunt LSs...and from your own admission, only the 'good hunt ls's' So even within your 'hunting crew' there's a pecking order, a crew more deserving than the rest.

But see, those 'trolls' or 'early pullers' they are doing nothing of the sort.

First off, there is no such thing as an 'early pull'. If there were, people would be pulling mobs before they even spawned. This is not happening. They see it, they claim it. If it was anything else in life, if would be theirs. This is like seeing a co-worker eating a salad they got from the salad bar you have access to as well, and instead of getting up, and making your own salad, just grabbing theirs and saying 'thanks...this is mine. And when they get up, and bring back a new salad, and now maybe a cup of soup, saying 'That's mine too, and taking both from them again'. Also, you're not waiting 'to help others' in some noble quest. You're waiting because you need them. If your party's not there when that mob is engaged, you'll likely not get full credit...so you respect that they too want full parties there...esp since again, you hail from the same FC/LS/Alliance. Duh you take care of your own ppl. But you're not being noble...or respecting those on your server.

Secondly, 'trolls'. Well, if they really ARE trolling, they can be reported. So, I'm going to guess that 'trolling' really means=they don't play by the rules we made up and mess up our system, even though what they are doing is totally within the mechanics and proper intentions of the game. Because if they were abusive or rude=reportable. If they were abusing game mechanics=cheating and reportable.

The only 'trolls' in your post btw are the 'afore mentioned

You start off your 'HB' post by pointing out that you too were a victim of our server's 'kindness Alliance' But that, now that you joined them everything's peachy. And if you're happy this way, that's fine. But you're still letting them bully you. Sure, you're raking in the Allied Marks now, but your doing it by their rules, assisting them...helping you is just par for the course for them. And sure, you probably made some awesome friends like you who also are just cogs in the larger system...who like you got tired of getting yelled at and decided to just join the path of least resistance, but there's nothing 'kind' or 'generous' about these groups overall. It's very much a 'I'm helping you to help me more' scenario.

Still, Its NOT OKAY to me that they think they set the rules for the entire server and it's 'do it our way or we scream at you'. Your kind and gentle, circle of friends have harassed me, and screamed at me on at least 3 different occasions now. 2 of them, I FOUND AND TOLD THEM WHERE THE MOB WAS. The 3rd, I wasn't even in the same zone...someone else ticked them off and they made sure I heard of it as they felt I could 'keep my FC members in line' Yeah, cause THAT's what a good leader does.... enforces other groups made up rules that undermine your groups progress. They have harrassed my friends...some have been that abusive towards my friends they received temp bans from the game (the abusers not my friends).


So again, you start off your 'HB' post showing off what exactly is wrong with these 'bullies'... you're 100% correct, NO ONE should be screaming at anyone over 5 allied seals. You saw it first, no one was around...you changed gear, and STILL no one was around. They had no right to yell at you. You illustate how 'ellusive' getting into a Hunt LS/the TS server can be on our server, you show how frustrated you were....

Then you erase it all when you JOIN them. You know, they are still bullying those not it the 'alliance' right? You know, there's still no respect for the person with the initial claim right? Nothing changed... you just are on the 'inside' now. And even if your Hunt LS, is polite and welcoming as pie, it is still so tarnished by the bad behaviors of the faceless hoarde there is no salvation for them. (ESP since LS groups aren't easy to identify...how can any solo player know the LS griefing is always LS 'blah')....all the small group sees is 'masse of people screaming ...oh hey, I know that person yelling at me...gee, thanks'

Mental note: Never transfer to Excalibur...

Yea multiple times I'd run into a mark, 100 people around me, not a single person invites. I end up inviting 1 or 2 others asking for invites but with only 3 of us we don't generate enough aggro and don't get the full reward.

I wonder if it's a Legacy Server / Non Legacy Server thing in that case. A lot of people have posted in here agreeing with the OP.

I don't really know if it's legacy or not legacy or whatever but isn't Excalibur legacy? Behemoth isn't legacy and its awful.
People who agree are those who play off peak hours...and of course all the idiots are at school/work. When I get home it's a disaster so I've tried not to participate too much anymore.
It's just not fun.

I've had more fun 2 manning a fate boss with a random passerby than this.

I've found hunts to be both positive and negative. I do enjoy getting out in the world more than standing around in Mor Dhona or Limsa waiting on Duty Finder. I've met a bunch of new, cool people by participating in hunting parties and joining a few LS's. When the monsters are popping, it's a good time, going from place to place.

However, with it comes the bad. That bad is in the form of certain people. On my server, while there are a lot of people who are polite and helpful and wait a little time before pulling, there is a particular FC who is quite infamous for being downright disrespectful to anyone who is not a part of their FC. It's people like this that put the negativity in the hunts.

It's the same on legacy I'm afraid, even when it's not peak hours. I remember doing an S rank in mor'dona once. I was a WHM and solo, I must have rezed 8 players during the entire fight just waiting for the NM to appear on my screen. After a while my hp just dipped from full to zero. Didn't get a single Rez even after the battle ended :/

I've seen a negative effect from hunts already. One time, I had to wait almost five minutes as a healer trying to get into a duty roulette, and that's never happened. Clearly, tanks were out hunting. Just imagine what it's like for DPSs who try to que... any content nowadays. Hunts are not real content in my opinion. They're too easy to do and give out way too much in terms of rewards. It's changed the dynamic of the game a great deal.

If you really went into TS hunt channel, you will hear people repeatedly said do not yell at random people who pulled early.

I still can't believe how much your reply bugs me @ 3am of a sleepless night. I believe in "I" can wait for people because most of us are nice and also wait for each other. We form a nice circle around the mob and wait. even after once and once more ridiculous extension, we still follow the rule and hold our fires. Most of us don't yell at early pullers or solo hunters. However, there are always few bad players who is either too young to think for the others or miss clicked range skills or who has mental illness that can't hold their temper to just lose control.

I experienced both side of the situation and now I know sharing with the other 200 people is better. You believed in your own theory and started to yell at my belief, experience and all other well-behaved people are wrong. Pin picking little passage that I don't even meant to say inside my previous post. What made you different than these 1-3% ppl, who believed hunting should be done in a huge group and wait for everyone, yelled at you "you shouldn't solo the hunting target"? bully bully bully everywhere... so easy to just point out some bad people and accused the whole other 200 ppl as the same.

And the person who yelled at me for soloing the hunt target, I never saw her inside the hunt group.

Again, I have no interest to convert your thinking. that's your believe and experience. However, please respect mine.

Day after day I see a slew of "inv pls" shouts after a mark is announced and day after day I see people ignoring those - experience it, even; be it by not inviting or by just deciding to go ahead and pull. Even when there's obviously another 5-10 people who are on their way and wanting to be in. Day after day I see/experience arrivals at the given locations only to find the zergsquad dispersing and the dead mark already vanished, not one minute after it's been shouted about. And this is nothing compared to what goes on afterwards - the namecalling, the cursing, the general bad atmosphere in. every. zone. day. after. day.
I'm not convinced if disabling /shouts altogether is a proper way of dealing with this, but ignoring the hunt system like that is currently the only way of avoiding it. And y'know, from what I see, I can't imagine any of these LSs being of the "friendly social" kind either. I don't know anything about Balmung, save for the fact that it's basically 'the' unofficial rp server - that might be a reason why people are generally nicer over there. If they are. But that's still just Balmung. And people I know on other servers ain't telling me anything positive related to hunts either.

Resetting mobs can also be bannable offence, since it is disrupting a players gameplay and most likely making them lose out on credit they rightfully deserve (ToS 3.2 Disruption).

I don't blame communities for finding solutions to bad game design.

This is...pretty much what party finder raiding was for me, before hunts killed it. It's not really something hunts gave, it just moved it, and added a lot of other baggage (lengthened queues, trolling, toxic entitled attitudes from hunt LSes, dead party finders on fragile population servers) along with it.

I play on Balmung during NA prime time. All the negative behaviors are still present. This last weekend was especially awful.

B and A rank marks die almost instantaneously. Sometimes people will shout out pull-times, but no one ever waits for that time. People curse and scream at each other and try to start witch hunts for the people that pull the mobs (not even early, oftentimes).

What they should do is remove the ability for A and S Ranks to drop Oils/BML. Then buff dailies. Then give Hunt monsters visual priority over everything else. Then I think it'll be fine.

I only try to include people in Hunts if we need more, it's an S-Rank or I'm feeling generous. Otherwise, I tell my FC/Party/LS what I found, wait for a sizeable group to be there (not too big) and then announce a pull time. That way, everyone is on the same page. If there's already 50 players there though, I announce a short PT and then pull. Contrary to popular believe, the more people that show up the less everyone gets. This conclusion is based on experience with all of my hunts. No one likes getting 1-5 seals for an A Rank despite being there the entire time and successfully using their rotations.

Oh Balmung isn't nicer, believe me. This place is mostly a cesspool and I don't venture out of my FC because of it. There's not a day that goes by I don't hear abusive shouts, people telling to blacklist, screaming that someone pulled early... I've turned it off entirely and pretend hunts don't exist because of it.

Yes there is a lot of RP here, but there's a LOT of dbags too. You'll see the RP'ers in town and everyone else? On the hunts!

They should do a lot of different things but from the live letter and the general lack of response, it seems like they think everything is working as intended.

I was pointing out that originally when you were out minding your own business, happily playing, these groups came in, and made you uncomfortable....for playing the game differently than they wanted you to play. Then you said you wanted to be in one of their groups, but had trouble finding one, because again, it's not simply a 'I want in, where do I sign up!' on our server, but you need to know who to ask, and who has openings still. But you found a group, and are happy with that group. That's fine.

You joined them. which is fine. You're having fun with them. Also fine. But the ONLY reason, they are being 'nice' now, is because you're one of them. So yes, I'm quite sure it's a positive experience from the inside...but that doesn't excuse their behavior previously.

Deli, I point blank don't do the hunts. I HATE the screaming. Hate it. But even in not doing them, I still have to hear about it. I see the constant bickering when out gathering. I get nasty tells if the hoarde thinks someone I know should 'fall in line' ....I've gotten picked on for killing a B rank with no one around. I'm not antagonizing them, I'm not purposefully, claiming mobs or 'soloing' or anything of the sort. Those 3 B mobs I killed (yes only 3)? 2 were the Same mob...I was out gathering Amber for leveling carp desynth. The other, out gathering lighting shards. I don't deserve to be hated on for that. NO ONE does.

I only was pointing out that you are saying how 'wonderful' your Hunt Group is, after saying how much these same groups hurt your feelings and , treated you before you were in a Hunt group/while you were looking to join. I am saying, I'd rather stay ilvl98 forever than join in people who ever bullied YOU or me over a Silly B rank, worth 5 seals that they didn't even see and that will respawn soon enough. And even though the shell you're in might be sweet as pie, wonderful people who would never bully, and who like you were the victims of our servers Hunt Bullies as well, the fact is, when you see 100's of people, many shouting nasty things, you can't tell who's in which groups so they all get tarnished.

So yes, I'm happy you're happy. I'm sad you joined the bullies so that you could be happy.

I personally enjoy hunting, I do prefer going with my FC because we can communicate faster over voice channels. However, one thing I still will never understand, why people rage so hard over these. The design and implementation was around random findings and random players fighting these elite hunts. There's no rule that says anyone has to wait to pull. You're lucky if they wait even 5 seconds because it was not designed to be done in the way which every server currently does the content.

Not going to lie, I blacklist people who cry over an "early pulled" B rank, because I don't want to play with people like that. I miss marks all the time or am just arriving as it dies, no big deal there will be more. Not to mention these people are probably the ones waiting in town just leeching off their party. If something is called and you teleport immediately, you will make it, even if it's a B rank.

I just feel bad for the gathers caught in the middle of it all. I saw a poor miner get slaughtered by a B rank mark just because it spawned on top of him.

I've noticed this. I definitely think SE could be a lot more communicative with the community on these forums. We get professional answers, which is always welcome, but there's still a huge disconnect.

I'm surprised that none of the community reps have chimed in on this one. I didn't expect a response to the rage over thief vs rogue, but I absolutely expected SE to acknowledge that NA sees a big, BIG problem with the way hunts were introduced. Is there really no one listening?

Nothing wrong with the introduction of the hunt. The problem is how people are doing the content. The way the content is done is not the way it was intended. I don't think they should acknowledge anything because it's a waste of time. They gave the design of how the content was suppose to be, people did something different, and now they complain. Sounds like a problem with how people do the content, not the content itself.
