Request: Racial Gear Expanded (Dyeing, Interchangable)

Yes please~ Let me run around in the pretty, Elezen clothes, OR HELL, I would love all the pantie shots with that miqote skirt.

I just feel bad for the Elezen. Whoever designed their initial equip seemed to LOVE Jackboots. I personally dislike boots that go higher than halfway up one's shin, but that's just my personal preference.

A much as I love a lot of other race gear, I like the fact that it's unique to that race. I fully support the idea of dying them though, more so than any other suggestion I've seen in this forum.

The majority of boots in the game look chunky and horrible, to be blunt about it; on women and men. I'm glad I am a Midlander because without the female thighboots I'd be stuck with shoes that make my legs look like tree trunks. There's only one pair of boots that don't go above the knees that aren't chunky and that's Lightning's. The rest all look too thick and bulky and don't suit the general feminine appearance of just about every other piece of gear on female characters.

I'm all for being able to dye RSE, but like the race specific underwear I don't want other races wearing it. While yes there are pieces from other races gear I like I still don't REALLY want to wear it cause its something unique for them. And in an MMO its quite hard to be unique, & I'm still pretty unique-ish with my Highlander strappy undies. But if this were to happen I would see tons of people wearing it (or should I say tons of miqote lol) & that would be one less thing that sets me apart from the other races.

Whilst I appreciate this would require more work than simply dyeing the gear, as additional models for the equipment would need to be made, I feel it would be a positive step. Some of the racial gear is very unique compared to other equipment. There are no skirts in the style of a Miqo'te's and no leather tights like an Elezen's. Being able to use these gears in our glamour sets would add another rich layer to this already enjoyable system - even more so if they can be dyed.

I never even thought of the underwear! I'd love to combine the Midlander Top with the Miqo'te bottoms, since the Midlander bottoms look a bit, well... Weird.

the easy way around the lore would be to have race quests. such as an Elezen or maybe a Miqo'te in Gridania that wants you to join something like a dinner or a ritual but they want you to dress the part. it wouldn't be that hard to add cool quests to allow other races to wear race specific starter gear and it would be nifty if they did.

lots of possibilities that could make neat little side stories and still keep with lore

Indeed. Not too hard to come up with something lore abiding (hohoho):

Quest from a Midlander NPC somewhere: "Ah, greetings Tete! We want you to gatecrash the Annual Miqo'te Gathering XXXVI in Gridania and strengthen bonds between our people."
Quest Dialogue: "Well, you're a prrrretty Hyur but you'd look better in our trrrraditional rrrracial garb. Here, I think this will fit your size."
Quest Reward: An untradeable Miqo'te Skirt that can be worn by all Females.

I don't understand the argument that by keeping RSE race locked it allows people to be more unique. Giving people less options actually makes it more likely that you won't be unique. So please SE, give people more options on gear and less unnecessary, arbitrary lock outs! I think you'll all be surprised at the amazing things people come up with. ^_^

I just want more gear that isn't recycled visuals in general. Heck, I'd be absolutely sitting happy if they came out and went "Guys, the next update is just 500 pieces of vanity armor." I would be ecstatic! Instead of the 20 or so non recycled sets of armor that exists before the class specific stuff. Biggest complaint with this game is that we have a glamour system and then a joke of an armor selection. Don't get me wrong, the armor they release looks amazing, usually a little to ornate for my taste, but really good looking none the less; there just simply is not enough of it.

Hope we can get a dev response on both of these :D

Agree completely on the unique part. It's nice that we're getting new glamours each patch, the downside is a lot of them look the same as other pieces in that patch or pieces in previous patches. Or, worst of all, there's multiple pieces that are simply recoloured versions of each other. I really don't like that, no matter how good the piece looks (Royal / Crimson Vest), or in some cases bad (Scylla Robe.)

Seeing as the dye system got a recent update, this could be well on it's way in the future.
(At least the dye side)

Would be a nice addition for 2.4 or 2.45 / 2.48.
